Race 1: HOT PROPERTY REALTY CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1500M.
1st – ABOVE THE HORIZON 2nd – RUSSIAN BEAU 3rd – OUR QUICK TESS 4th – TRUSS
END SONG (App T Bannon) had to be steadied leaving the 1300m after improving onto the heels of TRUSS (R Mules)
DON’T TELL ANNA (D Evans) over raced in the early and middle stages and had to be steadied off the heels of ABOVE THE HORIZON (N Evans) for a short distance leaving the 1100m.
DON’T TELL ANNA (D Evans) shifted out under pressure leaving the 200m brushing OUR QUICK TESS (W Binder).
Race 2: HARDY WINES OPEN H’CAP – 1050M.
1st – VULCAN 2nd – YA WAHEED 3rd – HIGH RANGER 4th – CAMBOOYA
Due a misunderstanding apprentice T Bannon was notified as the rider of both HIGH RANGER and ATEE, and as a result was replaced by S Watkin as the rider of ATEE. Stewards accepted there reasons into this matter and no further action was taken.
VULCAN (D Evans) commenced to race fiercely near the 650m and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels HIGH RANGER (App T Bannon) which shifted in slightly.
Race 3: BRIAN FIELD P/L AMP FINANCIAL PLANNING CLASS 1 PLATE – 1050M.
1st – RED MESHACH 2nd – WAY HOME 3rd – KENDEL FLYER 4th – ON A PRAYER
S Kendrick, the trainer of RED MESHACH, was fined the sum of $100.00 under AR140B in that he presented that horse with out its nominated gear of winkers. As Mr Kendrick did not have a set of winkers at his disposal and was unable to locate a set, RED MESHACH was permitted to race without that gear.
CAPRIZANT (S Watkin) and UNTOUCH A BELLE (J Long) were both tightened for room at the start between CHELSEANN (R Mules) and RED MESHACH (D Evans) which began awkwardly and shifted out.
RED MESHACH (D Evans) had a tendency to race ungenerously in the middle stages.
A post race veterinary examination of CHELSEANN which finished tailed off revealed the mare to be lame in both front fetlocks. W Pomfrett, the trainer of CHELSEANN was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness must be produced prior to the horse’s next start.
Mr Pomfrett advised stewards it would be his intention to advise the owners to retire the mare.
Race 4: NORTH GOONYELLA CFMEU MAIDEN PLATE – 1250M.
1st – CINNAMON ROAD 2nd – ONITSEAR 3rd – LILY OF THE WEST 4th – KINGSLEY
CARMEL’S GEM was declared a late scratching at 8.35am by order of stewards. When questioned, A Jones, the trainer of CARMEL’S GEM, stated that due to confusion as to the availability of rider’s he was of the belief that no rider was available and had exercised the horse. Whilst, stewards accepted his explanation, Mr Jones, was advised to use a more professional manner in similar circumstances.
Due to a misunderstanding D Evans was notified as the rider of both CINNAMON ROAD and KINGSLEY and as such was replaced by W Binder as the rider of KINGSLEY. Stewards accepted the reasons into this matter and no further action was taken.
ONITSEAR (N Evans) began awkwardly.
Race 5: GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1250M.
1st – LA GRISHAN 2nd – STRATEGIC WIN 3rd – MAPPERNIQUE 4th – MR KISEKI
LARRIKIN LANCE (J Long) jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
BECQUEREL (N Evans) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
