Race 1: Blacks Real Estate Class 2 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – DELAGO RAIDER 2nd – MONNIE 3rd – STRATEGIC WEAPON 4th - TOYHERO

At the start STRATEGIC WEAPON (A. Coome) shifted out and bumped TOYHERO (T. Bannon).

From the 400 metres to the 200 metres STRATEGIC WEAPON (A. Coome) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Race 2: Trend Interiors Tile & Carpet Court Maiden Handicap – 1300 metres
1st – MEDDLESOME MISS 2nd - ALUCARD 3rd – GOLD MACHINE 4th – COCOMAN

After arriving behind the barriers MR GOLD (M. Usher) was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

When the start was effected MEDDLESOME MISS (App. B. Floyd) stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Mr G. Green, stable foreman for trainer Ms J. Green, was advised that the filly must perform to the satisfaction of the stewards in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

In the middle stages MR GOLD (M. Usher) raced ungenerously.

In the early part of the straight MEDDLESOME MISS (App. B. Floyd) shifted out to improve when not quite clear of MR GOLD (M. Usher), which was checked. App. Floyd was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that she is clear of other runners before shifting ground.

From near the 300 metres until approximately the 100 metres GOLD MACHINE (App. A. Kitson) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

ALMOST RIGHT (S. Watkin) and MR GOLD (M. Usher) raced wide throughout.

Race 3: Mackay Property Management Open Handicap – 1560 metres
1st – SARBI 2nd – BLAZE TO FORTUNE 3rd – ELASTANE 4th – IL CARDINALE

At the 300 metres ELASTANE (A. Coome) shifted across the heels of IL CARDINALE (App. A. Kitson) to improve.

Race 4: Milton Picture Framers Class 1 Plate – 800 metres
1st – EXDEED ALL LIMITS 2nd – TRIAL TO TRIUMPH 3rd – TELLKANE 4th – RECORD TAKER

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey T. Bannon, the rider of TELLKANE which finished third, to view the official films to determine whether she should lodge an objections against the winner, EXCEED ALL LIMITS (M. Usher). Having viewed the films, Jockey Bannon lodged a protest against EXCEED ALL LIMITS, alleging interference on the point of the home turn. After taking evidence from the parties involved, again viewing the official films, and taking into account their own observations, stewards conceded that TELLKANE had suffered interference on the point of the turn, however they could not be comfortably satisfied that such interference was entirely attributable to EXCEED ALL LIMITS. Stewards were also of the opinion that in the straight TELLKANE had every opportunity to finish ahead of EXCEED ALL LIMITS, therefore the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand. Correct weight was then declared. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that on the point of the turn TELLKANE was inconvenienced when tightened for room by EXCEED ALL LIMITS, which shifted in slightly. As a result of the incident TELLKANE then shifted out and made contact with EXCEED ALL LIMITS, which was taken out slightly and made contact with the hindquarters of TRIAL TO TRIUMPH (D. Simmons), which shifted in slightly.

Race 5: Torque Recruitment Group Class 6 Plate – 1100 metres
1st – TYSON RULES 2nd – ROCKET TO GLORY 3rd – LILY TWENTY 4th – HUSSANA

The start of this race was postponed from 4.22 p.m. until 4.32 p.m.

At the start FORECLOSURE (J. Babarovich) shifted out, taking HUSSANA (C. McIver) out onto LILY TWENTY (T. Bannon).

FORECLOSURE (J. Babarovich) and TYSON RULES (D. Simmons) raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Fiesta Rentals Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st – ZANATUS 2nd – EXPLOSIVE STAR 3rd – SHORT TRIP 4th – ROCK LIKE CRAZY
The start of this race was postponed from 5.02 p.m. until 5.12 p.m.

SHORT TRIP (M. Usher) began awkwardly.

At the start ZANATUS (T. Bannon) and ARDENGO (D. Simmons) made contact.

EXPLOSIVE STAR (A. Coome) raced wide until the 600 metres.

ZANATUS (T. Bannon) was inclined to lay in for the majority of the straight.

ROCK LIKE CRAZY (S. Watkin) and SHORT TRIP (M. Usher) raced wide throughout.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics employed on ROCK LIKE CRAZY and Jockey
Watkins riding of that gelding. After taking evidence from Jockey S. Watkin and trainer Mr C. Smith, and viewing the official films, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of ROCK LIKE CRAZY did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
