Race 1: Kern Group BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1650 metres
1st ARIADNE 2nd SLEEP ON IT 3rd LIBERRTY’S MAGIC 4th - SAN RAYMOND
Stewards considered an objection lodged by App. K. Aho, the rider of SLEEP ON IT which finished second, against ARIADNE (A. Butler) being declared the winner, alleging interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence from the parties involved viewing the official video films and taking into account their own observations, stewards found that rounding the home turn ARIADNE shifted out marginally and momentarily impeded the running of SLEEP ON IT, however bearing in mind the location of the interference and the manner in which both runners finished the race off, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that SLEEP ON IT would have finished ahead of ARIADNE. In the circumstances, the protest was dismissed and the judge’s placings ordered to stand.
