Race 1: PATRON’S QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m
1st –MASTER FORESHORE 2nd – ALESTELLE LADY 3rd – CHATEAU”S BLOOMER 4th SONG THIEF
When Jockey A. Coome was to be overweight, stewards permitted Jockey L Appo to be the replacement rider for CHATEAU’S BLOOMER.
As jockey S Sheargold could not make the allotted weight stewards permitted jockey C McIver to be the replacement rider for FAST PASS.
Prior to the start SHOWETOUS (I Coombes) broke through the barriers and was quickly restrained after a short distance and returned to the barriers.
On jumping SHOWETOUS lost ground when tightened between UPTOWN EAGLE (C. Small) and CRAIGLEA JAGUAR (App B Floyd) both of which had shifted ground.
CHATEAU’S BLOOMER jumped outwards onto EZY “N” BOLD (D Whitmore) which forced it in onto the hind quarters of FAST PASS (C McIver).
SHOWETOUS, UPTOWN EAGLE, SONG THIEF (S McGovern) and LOVE HAPPENS (App. K Gates) all raced wide through- out.
FROSTY ROCKET (S Bayliss) lay out for the entire journey and failed to stretch out during the race. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed that FROSTY ROCKET was sore across the back. Trainer G Mooney was advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness for FROSTY ROCKET before starting again.
Race 2: GORDON & EVELYN HUTTON MEMORIAL CLASS B – 1000m
1st – NINEDAYFORTNIGHT 2nd – DUAN ALLIBAR 3rd – FAIR SWAP 4th BEAR’S ECHELON
As jockey A Coome was to be overweight, stewards permitted Jjockey C McIver be the replacement rider for MONNAMEE. Jockey A Coome was $100.00 AR120(b).
FAIR SWAP (App B Floyd) was kicked in the mounting yard by DUAN ALLIBAR (App C Priest). As a consequence FAIR SWAP was inspected at the barrier by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
Prior to the start GRAND TURK (I Coombes) broke through the barriers and was restrained after a short distance and returned to the barriers.
Prior to the start NORTHERN TRAVELLER (App K Gates) broke through the barriers and went to the finish line in a canter and returned to the barriers.
NORTHERN TRAVELLER was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
BEAR’S ECHELON (L Dillon) had to be resaddled at the barriers.
As the start was effected ALMOST DIAMONDS (S Sheargold) jumped inwards and bumped heavily with RED ACE (L Appo).
BEAR’S ECHELON was slow into stride.
NORTHERN TRAVELLER raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 3: AUSSIE Q RESOURCES Class 4 HANDICAP- 1200m
1st – SIR EMLAND 2nd – DON’T YOU WORRY 3rd – WINGER IN 4th – CALARABEN
CALARABEN (S McGovern) was slow into stride.
NOAH’S SMILE (I Coombes) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
No other racing incidents to report.
Race 4: KEN & GORDON RUSSELL MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
1st PIPERS POINT 2nd – CRAIGLEA TINA 3rd – ECLAIR MAGIQUE 4th – FALVELIZABETH
CRAIGLEA TINA (App B Floyd) was fractious prior to the start and as a consequence was slow into stride.
STAR OF MINTO (C McIver) jumped out and bumped FALVELIZABETH (C Priest).
No other racing incidents to report.
Apprentice B Floyd was severely admonished for returning to scale 0.5kg under the allotted weight on CRAIGLEA TINA.
Apprentice J Kropp was cautioned regarding his use of the whip on horses that are out of contention.
Race 5: KEN OGLE MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1400 metres
1st – MISS CHANCESXAAR 2nd – DIXIE FLYER 3rd – FRIEND 4th – QUANTUM FIRE
NO SHOWS (S Bayliss) was extremely slow to begin.
MISS CHANCESXAAR (T Banks) was slow into stride.
Approaching the 500 metres MISS CHANCESXAAR, which had improved to the outside of NO SHOWS (S Bayliss) stepped in momentarily and forced NO SHOWS to shift in and place CARRY THE MING (App C Priest) in restricted room, to be checked and lose ground. Jockey T Banks was advised to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts shifting ground.
CLASSIC REWARD (C Small) commenced to yield ground from the 450 metres.
FRIEND returned to the enclosure with blood present in both nostrils. Trainer W Melvin was advised that as this was the second occasion the gelding had bled it would now be barred from racing for life.
