1st- Shychenka 2nd – GRAUMAN 3rd – In His Element 4th- Christmas Vampire

DREAM ON DREAMER (Shane Pawsey) had to be eased off the heels of SHYCHENKA (Kirk Stone) at about the 500 mtrs.

LIABLE (Bradyn Swaffer) was slow to begin and didn’t stretch out in the early stages of the event.




Race 2:.COLOR STUDIO CLASS B HANDICAP (1) 900 MTRS
1st – Winged Warrior 2nd –Read All About Me 3rd –Overanga 4th –Puzianowski

PUDZIANOWSKI (Emma Ljung) jumped awkwardly.

TAMARIKI STAR (Michael Harris) and EREBUS (Shane Pawsey) both jumped in at the start and made contact with KANA AKA (Frank Edwards)

OUR GEORGIA’S ROSE (Sonja Wiseman) raced wide rounding the 800mtr corner.




Race 3:.MAREEBA TC SUPPORTING FNQ CLASS B HANDICAP (2)900 MTRS
1st – Glaurung 2nd –Family Freeze 3rd – Significant Choice 4th – Dart Head

GRAND ELEGANCE (Shohei Kaya) was slow to begin.

DART HEAD (Emma Ljung) hit the running rail at the 400mtrs.

FAMILY FREEZE (Sonja Wiseman) travelled wide rounding the home corner.

Race 4: . CLEALL’S BUTCHERY QTIS BENCHMARK60 HANDICAP1210 MTRS
1st –Canyon Road 2nd –Thirty Three Large 3rd –Rojo Buzz 4th Manalute

ZATSACAT (Graham Watson) wanted to hang in in the early stages while racing wide and continued to race wide for the entire event.

MANALUTE (Kirk Stone) jumped awkwardly from the barriers.


Race 5:. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHERIDAN BALLARD –
LEGAL AT LAST BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1500 MTRS

1st –Koolasacat 2nd –Great Impressions 3rd –Elevator 4th – Army of One

Stewards questioned the running of BIGHORN (F. Edwards), Jockey Edwards explained that his riding instructions were to go forward and attempt to lead. Jockey Edwards further explained that the horse was slow into stride and was reluctant to go forward despite his efforts to do so. At approximately the 600 metre point the pace in the race eased resulting in jockey Edwards having to ease the horse off heels. Jockey Edwards further stated that the horse then appeared to drop the bit and was reluctant to go forward. Jockey Edwards explanations were noted.

Stewards after requesting a veterinary examination of BIGHORN found that the gelding had been removed from the track prior to the requirements of AR 117(3).
Stewards questioned trainer’s representative S. Hoffmann as to the reasons why the gelding had been removed from the course prior to the required time. Miss Hoffman could offer no reasonable explanation as to why the gelding had been removed. Subsequently stewards acting under the provisions of AR 117(3) charged Miss Hoffman who was the person in charge of BIGHORN for allowing the gelding to be removed from the track prior to the 30 mint time frame. Miss Hoffman pleaded guilty to the charge and was finned the sum of $200.
Stewards also directed that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
Miss Hoffman advised stewards that BIGHORN would be retired.


Race 6: .RIVERSIDE SPELLING HANDICAP1123 MTRS
1st –Sun Warrior 2nd -Panecillo 3rd –He’s a Ladies Man 4th -Stieg

STIEG (Shane Pawsey) stood flat footed when the gates opened and lost some ground.

Correct weight was delayed as Apprentice (Juliet Kuskopf) the rider of the second horse and the trainer Mr Michael Lee wished to view the photo finish after viewing the photo they were satisfied with the decision and correct weight was given.
