Race 1: Four Weeks To Go – Maiden Plate. Distance – 1000 Metres - (4 Starters).

1st – DESERT KNOWLEDGE 2nd – OSCARLENO 3rd – IRONHIDE 4th – CEDE NULLIS

PEPPERTREE DANCER was scratched after final acceptances. Trainer Mr George Tipping pleaded guilty to a breach of the rules under the terms of LR42(2), in that he failed to lodge an amended stable return for CEDE NULLIS by the prescribed time (showing the correct ownership). Mr Tipping was subsequently fined the sum of $50 (fifty dollars). In arriving at penalty stewards took into consideration all the circumstances involved. When Apprentice Corey Gilby failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time, stewards approved a late riding change with Apprentice John Rudd being semaphored as the rider for IRONHIDE. At a subsequent inquiry, Apprentice Corey Gilby pleaded guilty under the terms of AR85B, in that he failed to arrive on course fulfil his riding engagement on IRONHIDE. Apprentice Gilby was subsequently fined the sum of $50 (fifty dollars). In arriving at penalty stewards took into consideration the circumstances involved and also it was Apprentice Gilby’s first (1st) offence of this nature. Stewards also reprimanded Apprentice Gilby for unacceptable attire (under the terms of AR86), and informed him that a more severe penalty may occur in future. IRONHIDE (Apprentice J. Rudd) hung inwards under hard riding leaving the 300 metre mark, which necessitated its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount on more then one occasion. Following the event Apprentice J. Rudd (the rider of IRONHIDE), advised the stewards that the gelding had demonstrated a tendency to hang inwards throughout the entire event.

Race 2: Rock It Barnsey – Class 3 Plate. Distance – 1100 Metres - (6 Starters).

1st – GOLDEN DRAKE 2nd – QUICK MAN 3rd – GUNMAN 4th – BUCKO

BUCKO (Apprentice J. Rudd) was fractious in the barriers prior to a start being effected. Both KAPELAS (D. Price) and THE COOLER (D. Ballard) were a fraction slow away. No other reportable racing incidents in running. It was noted that KAPELAS (D. Price) compounded over the final 250 metres of the event, finishing a considerable distance from the main portion of the field.








Race 3: First Bull Ride – Class 1 Plate. Distance – 1450 Metres - (6 Starters).

1st – MY FYVEIGHT 2nd – ROYAL BULLION 3rd – POINT THE FINGER 4th – THE BREWSTER

When Jockey A. Spradau was unable to make the allotted weight, stewards approved a late riding change with Jockey K. Ballard being semaphored as the rider for THE BREWSTER. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey A. Spradau was fined the sum of $50 (fifty dollars) for a breach of AR120(b) – (overweight). In arriving at penalty stewards took into consideration the circumstances involved. When a start was effected ROYAL BULLION (D. Price) reared in the air, subsequently the gelding lost considerable ground. MARCHINETTE (R. Lock) was slow away, due to jumping awkwardly when the gates were released. No other reportable racing incidents in running.


Race 4: Complex Grand Opening – Weight For Age. Distance – 1450 Metres - (5 Starters).

1st – KING WELLS 2nd – MURDSA 3rd – REGULUS (NZ) 4th – CHOIMAR

REGULUS (NZ) (Apprentice C. Gilby) was a fraction slow away. Approaching the 100 metre mark, KING WELLS (K. Ballard) became unbalanced for a short distance when the gelding changed stride on several occasions. As a result its rider was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount.
