Total Prizemoney: $64,000. QTIS: $2,800.

General: Trainer Garth Tully (through his stable representative Brett Gundersen) was fined the sum of Fifty dollars ($50) for failing to declare a rider for Golden Drake in Race 1, by the prescribed time as per the terms of LR 70(1). Trainer Grant Wiles was fined the sum of Fifty dollars ($50) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time for IRONHIDE in Race 2 as per the terms of LR 70(1). Urine samples were obtained from three (3) riders who rode at this meeting. Stewards throughout the meeting conducted routine inspections of all riders skull caps.

Race 1: Bell & Moir Hyundai Terracan – Class 3 Plate. Distance – 1450 Metres - (10 Starters).

1st – LURE THE LION 2nd – GOLDEN DRAKE 3rd – DAYLIGHT DIAMOND 4th – GUILT TRIP (NZ)

Jockey G. Cullen was semaphored as the rider for GOLDEN DRAKE. The starting time for this event was delayed approximately 15 minutes, due to the farrier having to replate the off side hind racing plate of THE COOLER (Apprentice Ms N. Summers). SEAFORTRESS (D. Jones) was fractious in the barriers prior to a start being effected (rearing in the air on several occasions), which necessitated the assistance of an attendant. Immediately after the start, ROCCABAROCCA (W. Kenning) (who had jumped awkwardly) lost its footing and stumbled, subsequently the horse lost ground. RAIATEA (D. Ballard) lost considerable ground in the early and middle stages of the event (despite being hard ridden) when unable to maintain sufficient pace to go the early speed of the event. Both GUNMAN (K. Ballard) and MR ALBERT (Apprentice J. Rudd) raced wide on the track in the back straight. When questioned following the event, Jockey W. Kenning (the rider of ROCCABAROCCA) stated that after stumbling shortly after the start, the gelding did not appreciate the sand coming back, when obliged to race in behind the race leaders, and the horse was under pressure from the 700 metre mark to maintain its position in the field. A subsequent veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities. A routine swab sample was obtained from the gelding.

Race 2: Bell & Moir – Over 67 Years Service – Maiden Plate. Distance – 1000 Metres - (7 Starters).

1st – CEDE NULLIS 2nd – CONNAISSANCE 3rd – FROST BITTEN 4th – OSCARLENO

Apprentice C. Gilby was semaphored as the rider for IRONHIDE. On their immediate arrival on course, Stewards were notified by Trainer Mr Ray Ryder that PEPPERTREE DANCER appeared lame after kicking the wall of its stall earlier in the morning. The horse subsequently inspected by the Club veterinary surgeon, and found to be lame in the off hind fetlock joint (RSC veterinary incident report 2083 refers) and therefore unfit to start. The horse was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards, (acting on veterinary advice) at 01:10 pm. No alteration to betting was required. CEDE NULLIS (D. Ballard) was reluctant to load. FROST BITTEN (A. Spradau) jumped outwards slightly and brushed CONNAISSANCE (K. Ballard). LOVE TO KNOW (D. Jones), who was having its first race start, was a fraction slow into stride when a start was effected. MISS MANIPULATOR (M. Cummings), who was having its first race start, lost considerable ground when the gates were released, due to the filly standing flat footed. Following the event, Jockey M. Cummings (the rider of MISS MANIPULATOR) reported that the filly raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event.

Race 3: Bell & Moir Hyundai Elantra – Class 4 Handicap. Distance – 1000 Metres - (7 Starters).

1st – GRIFFIN GATE 2nd – SPECIAL CELESTE 3rd – JESTERS LAD 4th – IN ALCATRAZ

GOLDEN DRAKE (who was a dual acceptor) was scratched after final acceptances. JESTERS LAD (G. Cullen) was declared fit to start after undergoing a veterinary inspection, as the gelding was a late scratching on veterinary advice at the Mount Isa meeting on 26/05/2007, when found to be lame in the off side front fetlock. LORD YUM YUM (T. Brummell) was hampered on jumping, when NORTH ALERT (K. Ballard) jumped inwards and GRIFFIN GATE (A. Spradau) jumped outwards. SPECIAL CELESTE (D. Jones) was obliged to race wide on the track (from its extreme outside barrier) in the early and middle stages of the event. LORD YUM YUM (T. Brummell) raced wide on the track from the 700 metre mark to the entrance to the home straight. Following the event, it was noted that SINNED (Apprentice C. Gilby) had haemorrhaged from both nostrils in running. This condition was confirmed upon examination by the Club veterinary surgeon. As this was the horse’s second (2nd) bleeding attack, the mare now incurs a lifetime ban from racing (as per the terms of AR53A4(5)). Stewards notified the connections of this embargo, and the mare’s document of identity was endorsed accordingly. A routine swab sample was also obtained. On returning to scale, Jockey D. Jones the rider of the second placegetter (SPECIAL CELESTE), lodged an objection against GRIFFIN GATE (A. Spradau) being declared the winner, for alleged interference over the final 250 metres. After taking evidence from both riders involved, viewing of the stewards patrol film footage and on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was subsequently semaphored on the judge’s final placing’s. No further action was taken in relation to this incident, after it was established that both horses had demonstrated a tendency to shift ground under pressure over the final 250 metres of the event. It was noted that NORTH ALERT (K. Ballard), after racing in a forward position in the early and middle stages, compounded over the final 300 metres of the event. Jockey T. Brummell the rider of LORD YUM YUM, returned to scale with a small laceration to his lip, as a result of being struck by a small rock in running.

Race 4: Bell & Moir Hyundai Santefe – QTIS Class 1 Handicap. Distance – 1200 Metres – (9 Starters).

1st - DEVILSINTHEDETAIL 2nd - EASE THE FREEZE 3rd - RAPID LOVER 4th - LEGAL AID

LEGAL AID (Apprentice J. Rudd) was reluctant to load. DEVILSINTHEDETAIL (D. Ballard) was fractious in the barriers prior to a start being effected, and required the assistance of an attendant. Both RAPID LOVER (D. Jones) and EXPRESS ROMEO (K. Ballard) lost ground when the gates were released, due to being slow into stride. Approaching the 700 metre mark, HURRICANE HAL (W. Kenning) threw its head in the air on several occasions and raced very ungenerously for a considerable distance thereafter, subsequently the horse lost considerable ground. It was noted that MAJESTIC SKY (Apprentice C. Gilby) after racing in the lead, compounded over the final 400 metres of the event, finishing a considerable distance from the main portion of the field. Stewards questioned Jockey W. Kenning the rider of HURRICANE HAL, in relation to the very poor performance of that runner in todays event. Jockey Kenning stated that the horse lost considerable ground leaving the 700 metre mark, when it resented the sand coming back and failed to stretch out from that point onwards, and gave the impression that something was amiss as it was short in its action over the final 300 metres. A subsequent veterinary inspection failed to reveal any visable abnormalities. Stewards intend to contact the gelding’s trainer Mr Bob Snelling in the coming days, to be updated on the horse’s condition subsequent to the race. The race winner DEVILSINTHEDETAIL (D. Ballard) was the only placegetter QTIS registered and therefore qualified for the QTIS bonus.

Race 5: Ray Donaldson (Snr) Memorial – Coppermarket Stakes – Weight For Age. Distance – 1200 Metres – (5 Starters).

1ST - KING WELLS 2nd - MR KASHMAN 3rd - CENTA SEQUALO 4th - PICNIC POINT

MR KASHMAN (A. Spradau) jumped awkwardly when a start was effected. Jockey D. Ballard (the rider of CENTA SEQUALO) received a small laceration to his right hand after being accidentally struck by the whip of Apprentice C. Gilby (the rider of PICNIC POINT) approaching the 200 metre mark. A routine swab sample was obtained from MURDSA which finished last of the Five (5) runners.

Race 6: Bell & Moir Hyundai – 2007 Mount Isa Cup – Open Handicap. Distance – 1800 Metres - (7 Starters).

1st – ROYAL BULLION 2nd – BYWORD 3rd – MEDOWIE EMPEROR 4th – FLICK N SPIN

FLICK N SPIN (W. Kenning) was slow away. EAGLE REIGN (Apprentice J. Rudd) shifted inwards shortly after the start and brushed with MEDOWIE EMPEROR (A. Spradau). Leaving the 1400 metre mark, both EAGLE REIGN (Apprentice J. Rudd) and BYWORD (K. Ballard) (the joint race leaders) raced fiercely, resulting in both horses pulling hard and refusing to settle, subsequently both riders had difficulty in restraining their respective mounts. REGULUS (NZ) (Apprentice C. Gilby) raced wide on the track in the back straight. Routine swab samples were obtained from the second placegetter BYWORD and also the third placegetter MEDOWIE EMPEROR.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

BOOKMAKERS: Four (4) bookmakers fielded at the meeting (JD Comerford; Lloyd Mitchell; FV Pauza & GN Saunders). (Local Hold $42,078 – Intrastate Hold: (Eagle Farm) - $21,294 – Interstate Hold $19,968 – Total Hold $83,368).

TOTAL STARTERS: 45
