Race 1: Welcome Hospital Social Club Members & Guests Class B Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – ARGOLIS 2nd – BASALTIC BANNE 3rd – LIKE CLOCKWORK 4th – ALWAYS PERSIANGULF
LIFE BELL (J. Rudd) began awkwardly and as a consequence lost ground.
ALWAYS PERSIANGULF (M. Morris) began awkwardly.
ARGOLIS (D. Ballard) and LIKE CLOCKWORK (A. Spradau) raced wide throughout.
Near the 200 metres ALWAYS PERSIANGULF (M. Morris) dipped causing it’s rider to become unbalanced for several strides.
Race 2: Doctors, Nurses & Health Workers QTIS Maiden Plate – 1100 metres:
1st – NOBLE BLOOD 2nd – MONTH OF SUNDAYS 3rd – LOST EVERYTHING 4th – DEXTERITY
NOT A GREAT LOOK (T. Hill) after jumping failed to muster any early speed.
COUNT NIKOLAI (A. Spradau) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
NOBLE BLOOD (J. Rudd) raced wide throughout.
Near the 200 metres SPACE SAVER (R. Sue – San) had to be eased when tightened for room between LOST EVERYTHING (K. Ballard) who had a tendency to hang out and NOBLE BLOOD (J. Rudd) who had a tendency to hang in. Both riders K. Ballard and J. Rudd were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 3: Better Choices & Better Health Class 2 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – NAUTICAT 2nd – MEGAROYALE 3rd – POMATINI 4th – KBENGAL
ENCOSTA SEQUALO (J. Rudd) was slow to begin.
NAUTICAT (A. Spradau) and KBENGAL (R. Sue – San) made contact shortly after the start.
EQUALES (K. Ballard), VIVIR (M. Morris) and ENCOSTA SEQUALO (J. Rudd) all raced wide throughout.
D. Ballard the rider of POMATINI reported that near the 700 metres the gelding had a tendency to hang in placing him on the heels of NAUTICAT (A. Spradau) and as a consequence POMATINI had to be steadied.
Jockey K. Ballard could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance of EQUALES. Trainer G. Tipping stated that EQUALES may have failed to carry the large impost weight of 62 kilograms. A post – race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: Happy Mothers Day Class 4 Handicap – 1450 metres:
1st – HELLUVA HURRY 2nd – MOON BOY 3rd – I’M HOT 4th – GLOBAL
MOON BOY (J. Rudd) and I’M HOT (M. Morris) raced wide throughout.
When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance of GLOBAL, jockey K. Ballard stated that GLOBAL travelled well but failed to accelerate over the concluding stages as it has in previous starts. Trainer D. Finter stated that he was disappointed with GLOBAL’S performance and that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 5: Get Ready For Cup Day June 9TH Open Handicap – 1450 metres
1st – COMMANCHE WARRIOR 2nd – ROCKET ON BY 3rd – SUPER STROP 4th – NORWEGIAN
FINAL ROAR (T. Hill) was slow to begin.
SUPER STROP (M. Morris) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
A post – race veterinary examination of ANCONI which raced below market expectations, did not reveal any abnormalities.
