Approaching the 500m ROCK SENS (App R Ride) shifted in of its own accord making heavy contact with the running rail and losing significant ground. MAKALON, which was trailing, improved onto the heels of ROCK SENS and blundered, dislodging App Serjeant. Mr S Burns, trainer of ROCK SENS was advised that gelding would be required to compete in an official trial prior to its next race start. A veterinary examination of both ROSK SENS and MAKALON revealed no abnormalities. App Serjeant was examined by the club medical officers and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements.
Approaching the 400m SANZIDA (App B Derbyshire), while racing in a forward position, was eased and lost its position when racing to the inside of SHAZZLE PAZZLE (W O'Connell) and LILLABELLE (S Apthorpe). At a subsequent inquiry App Derbyshire, in the presence of the trainer of SANZIDA Mr. W Melville who also represented App Derbyshire on the day, indicated her reason for easing at that point of the race was because she was of the opinion that the two outside runners might shift in. Stewards advised App Derbyshire her actions at that point were an over-reaction, unnecessary and disadvantaged the chances of her mount particularly as this was an 800m event. After taking into account App Derbyshire's limited race riding experience stewards advised App Derbyshire that her ride would be referred to the Rider Advisory Panel.

Following the running of this event stewards heard a complaint from licenced stablehand Mr. T. Lawson, representing Mr W Lawson, trainer of TRULY VEXING, regarding the riding of that filly by jockey L. Appo. After hearing submissions from Mr T Lawson and L. Appo stewards found that after TRULY VEXING was slow to begin the filly settled at the tail of the field, and after being placed under pressure between the 900m and 500m, failed to run on when placed under further pressure in the straight. Stewards advised L Appo that in their opinion he erred in not maintaining pressure between the 500m and 200m, however were not of the opinion that his actions were culpable to the degree that direct action should be taken under the rules.
Further, L Appo was reprimanded under AR83(a) for the manner in which he conducted himself following the event, specifically comments made when engaging in conversation with connections when unsaddling. NO HOOPS (L Appo) jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with OWIE (D Gill) resulting in OWIE losing ground.
Rounding the first turn at the 1300m TOKYO BOB (App B Derbyshire) had a tendency to lay out. From that point on, App Derbyshire elected to allow TOKYO BOB to stride forward and assume the lead at the 1200m.
GOLD RECORD (I Cooombes) raced in restricted for a short distance between the 400m and 250m resulting in the gelding being unable to improve its position.
