OAKLEY AMATEUR PICNIC RACE CLUB INC. –FRIDAY 11th MAY, 2007 (Day One).
WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING - Good (Dirt).

General This meeting was conducted under the conditions of the Queensland Community Racing Scheme (QCRS). No Photo Finish operated at this meeting. All prizes were in the form of trophies only. The only professional riders who rode at this meeting were John DAGAN, Les CRITOPH and Michael HARRIS . All other riders who competed were licensed Approved Riders. All races started by means of flag start. Minimum Weight for all races = 70kg.

Race 1: COLEMAN’S STOCKFEED MAIDEN PLATE – SET WEIGHTS.
800 Metres. ( 4 Starters).
1st - TORNADO GOLD 2nd - KALINGA PARKER
3rd - AS IF SHE KNOWS 4th - EBONY FOX (NZ).
EBONY FOX(NZ) (M.Harris) and TORNADO GOLD (D.Owens) were both slow into stride when the flag start was effected each losing some two lengths.

Race 2: HONEYCOMBS SALES & SERVICES- (RESTRICTED TROPHY 2 RACE) – SET WEIGHTS 800 Metres. ( 8 Starters).
1st - VICTORY DOLLAR 2nd - MASTER STIRLING
3rd - FLOATING NOISE 4th - ABAGNALE
TINGO’S RETURN (J.Dagan) lost some six lengths when the flag start was effected, similarly, ABAGNALE (M.Davey) lost some two lengths when the flag start was effected. Jockey L.Critoph, the rider of FLOATING NOISE, viewed the video footage of the finish regarding his mount being placed third at the finish. After the viewing he was satisfied with the judge’s decision.

Race 3: WILSON, RYAN & GROSE- JOHN PRICE MEMORIAL 2007 KOOROORINYA CUP. W.F.A. - 1400 Metres (6 Starters).
1st - SAND CAY 2nd - A PROMISE 3rd - THUNDER TIME
4th - DELSHIN
CONENTION (L.Critoph) lost two lengths when the flag start was effected. SUNACLANG (W. Drenan) lost two lengths as the flag start was effected

Race 4: PARRY-NISSAN – BERRIE LOGAN MEMORIAL BANGLE –
SET WEIGHTS 800 Metres . (8 Starters).
1st - BOB’S COUNTY 2nd - COMPACT CURVES 3rd - FRISKY CAKE 4th - CREOLASCA
PROUD CANADIAN (L.Critoph) lost two lengths as the flag start was effected. From the 600 Metres to the 400 Metres Proud Canadian which had the inside running and BOB’S COUNTY )Ms R.SOLWAY) raced very tight. Near the 300 Metres mark BOB’S COUNTY had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of CREOLASCA (J.Dagan). COMPACT CURVES (J.KEARNEY) shifted out under pressure in the straight.

Race 5: D.GRAY’S GRADER HIRE OPEN TROPHY RACE. W.F.A. –
1000 Metres (7 Starters).
1st - HOUSE OF HORRORS 2nd - MR. WYNDAM 3rd - AQUA DIANA 4th - NIP OF BRONZE.
No incidents in running.

Race 6: ROBINSON CATERING SERVICES (RESTRICTED TROPHY 4 RACE). W.F.A. – 1000 Metres. (8 Starters)
1st - YAMADO 2nd - BLEIGHSBOY 3rd - KALANI BOY
4th - SAFE LANDING.
Stewards requested a Veterinary Certificate of fitness from the connections of BLEIGHSBOY before that gelding was allowed to start owing to that gelding being a late scratching at Ewan on 29th September,2006 when the gelding had been found to be lame, (R.S.C. Vet.Cert. 2354 refers). A suitable certificate was furnished today under the hand of Veterinarian Dr. A. WAY. No incidents in running.

Race 7: HUGHENDEN SUPERMARKET (RESTRICTED 3 TROPHY RACE). W.F.A. – 1200 Metres. (5 Starters)
1st - PURITAN MAN 2nd - NATIVE BARON 3rd - KALINGA TASH
4th - HURRY HOME.
HURRY HOME (L.Critoph) was slow inside into stride from the flag start and then raced wide on the track and hung out for the entire distance of the race. Jockey Critoph advised he also experienced trouble because of the thick dust.
