PICCOLO’S GOLD and DRIVESHAFT (Ms A. Williams) each travelled wide rounding the home turn.

Race 2: HONEYCOMBERS SALES AND SERVICES RESTRICTED TROPHY 2 (Set Weights) 800 Metres

CALL ME GUNYA (M. Harris) lost considerable ground at the start.

ATEE EM (D. Bannister) was retired out of the event rounding the home turn when Jockey Bannister became concerned with the mare’s action. Connections were of the view that ATEE EM had failed to back up from its recent start at Tower Hill and advised that the mare would be immediately sent for a spell. A Veterinary examination of ATEE EM revealed a small superficial laceration to the left fetlock.

Race 3: RINGROSE & BUTTON CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS RESTRICTED TROPHY 4. (Set Weights). 1000 Metres
1st - TOTARA LASS 2nd - KALINGA TASH 3rd - FRAARCAS 4th - HURRICANE HAL

MISTER MALCOLM trialled in front of Stewards the morning of the race meeting, prior to acceptances, at which point stewards were satisfied with its behaviour in the mounting yard and allowed the horse to take its place in the event.

TOTARA LASS (D. Owens) turned outwards as the start was effected causing the rider to become unbalanced and lost ground.

DIATONIC (M. Harris) missed the start badly and effectively took no part in the race.

HIT THE PAPERS (Ms A. Macintosh) performed below expectations and the rider advised that the mare had failed to show any interest in racing. A Veterinary examination revealed slight bruising to the lower jaw. Connections advised that the tongue tie may have been applied to tight which the mare then resented throughout the race.

An explanation was sought from Jockey M. Harris who rode FUEL & WATER after his ride on that gelding. He stated that he won the start however he did not wish to lead and had then eased allowing other runners to go around his outside. He had then commended to ride his mount forward but was obliged to travel wide and the gelding tired in the straight. The explanation was noted.
