Race 1: QUALITY STEELS FRABRICATIONS & ENGINEERING P/L MAIDEN PLATE 1100M:
1st - COSTPLUS 2nd - COLUMBO 3rd - BAY ROUTE 4t h - GOLD CARD
NGAN DA BAA (R. Seymour) jumped away awkwardly.
BOUCHALANG (K. Stone) began awkwardly and lost ground.
BAY ROUTE (T. Brummell) had a tendency to lay in under pressure for the majority of the straight.
ATOMATION (T. Hill) and NGAN DA BAA (R. Seymour) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 2: RABO BANK QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1100M:
1st - HARDHEADED 2nd - PRESSURE’S ON 3rd - ARDEKUHNI 4th - RANMOORO
SOLOIST (W. Kenning) was slow to begin.
At the start, RANMORRO (G. Cullen) jumped out making contact with HALO TO HEAVEN (P. Cullen) who inturn shifted out making contact with ICE DANCING (T. Brummell).
Near the 200m, PRINCE JET (D. Slack-Smith) had to be steadied when tightened for room between PRESSURE’S ON (K. Ballard) and ARDEKUHNI (App J. Rudd) when both horses shifted ground. As a result PRINCE JET was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the straight.
Race 3: HASTINGS DEERING CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
1 st - MERRIE VINTAGE 2nd - GOODTOBETHEKING 3rd - EIGHT REALS 4th - FRISCO’S MAGIQUE
MARFIA HUNTER was declared a late withdrawal at 12.10pm due to a discrepancy with its official Brands and Markings. After taking initial evidence from Trainer Mr N. Byrne stewards adjourned the matter to a time and date to be fixed.
Apprentice D. Foster the rider of MEDOWIE MOTIVATOR was fined the sum of $100 for failing to claim his full allowance.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight trainer Mrs D. Jones, trainer of GOODTOBETHEKING which was placed 2nd by the judge, asked to view the photo finish. However, as there had been a malfunction with the photo finish equipment, stewards were unable to accede to her request. Stewards after viewing the official patrol film of the race were comfortably satisfied that the placings had been: No. 7 MERRIE VINTAGE first; No. 6 GOODTOBETHEKING second, No. 4, EIGHT REALS third and No. 10 FRISCO’S MAGIQUE fourth, stewards declared correct weight on those placegetters.
HOT DESIRE (D. Slack-Smith) and CANNY PLAY (T. Hill) which both broke through the barriers prior to the start being effected were examined by the clubs veterinarian and was cleared to start.
YOU’RE GUILTY (App J. Rudd) jumped away awkwardly.
CANNY PLAY (T. Hill) reared on jumping away and lost ground.
Near the 1100m, EIGHT REALS (K. Stone) shifted out taking MEDOWIE MOTIVATOR (App D. Foster) out onto MERRIE VINTAGE (D. Jones) which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DERMERE (A. Spradau). K. Stone was reprimanded.
Race 4: STAFFORD STOCK & PROPERTY OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
1st - CENTGEORGE 2nd - NORTH ALERT 3rd - ABSOLUTE TRUTH 4th - HOW GOOD IS HE
REMINGTON STEEL (App J. Rudd) jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, VICTORY SANDS (K. Ballard) shifted out making contact with REMINGTON STEEL (App J. Rudd).
Near the 1000m, DAYLIGHT DIAMOND (T. Brummell) had to be steadied off the heels of REMINGTON STEEL (App J. Rudd) after being taken in slightly by WALTZ TO GLORY (G. Cullen).
REMINGTON STEEL (App J. Rudd) and WALTZ TO GLORY (G. Cullen) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: QLD COUNTRY RACING/COLEMAN’S STOCK FEEDS FOSSIL TRAIL CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400M
1st – ETERNAL’S CHOICE 2nd - DEVIL’SINTHEDETAIL 3rd - KOMO LAD 4t h- MINER’S GHOST
As A. Spradau was found to be overweight Stewards permitted L. Critoph to be substituted as the rider of IN ALCATRAZ. At a subsequent inquiry A. Spradau was fined the sum of $100 under AR120(b).
Near the 700m, DEVIL’SINTHEDETAIL (K. Ballard) which was over racing shifted out forcing MICHIGAN (App J. Rudd) out onto SHELF SPACE (G. Cullen) which was taken wider on the track.
IN ALCATRAZ (L. Critoph) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 6: RISING SUN HONDA CLASS 6 PLATE 1000M
1st – ROLLING RICH 2nd - PEAYE ARJAY 3rd - CRYPT 4t h- GURU CHEIRON
Near the 100m, ROLLING RICH (T. Brummell) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with CRYPT (A. Spradau) which became unbalanced. T. Brummell was reprimanded.
LAMARK (K. Ballard) raced wide for the majority of the event.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
