RIDGELANDS RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 12/01/2002
STEWARDS PANEL: P Cooper (Chairman), J Boon
WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good.
GENERAL – Trainer A. Jones was charged by Stewards under LR82(2) in that he did present his mount POKER to the saddling enclosure at the Rockhampton Jockey Club on the 11/1/02 with the incorrect gear on the horse. Subsequently Stewards fined Mr A. Jones the sum of $50. Mr. Jones was also issued a reprimand under AR117 in that he failed to remain on course following this event for the prescribed time.
As Apprentice Bryce Dieckmann was indisposed for the entire meeting Stewards permitted the following rider changes:
Race 2 STORM HALO Appr. F. Okawa
Race 3 CORUPSII Appr. J. Dagan
Race 5 FIANDER Appr. F. Okawa
Race 6 KENDELWOOD Appr. F. Okawa
RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (6 STARTERS)
As the start was effected BEYOND SUCCES (Appr. L. Timson) jumped outwards and made heavy contact with CHUBASCO (S. Quick) who in turn shifted outwards and brushed with PEPPI PRIMAVERA (Appr. J. Dagan).
RACE 2: OPEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (4 STARTERS)
BURNING ZONE (M. Unwin) laid in when rounding the home turn which resulted in STORM HALO (Appr. F. Okawa) being placed in restricted racing room.
RACE 3: CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1000 METRES (6 STARTERS)
No incidents in running.
RACE 4: CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS)
LAURIE’S BOY (Appr. J. Dagan) was slow into galloping action as the start was effected.
RACE 5: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1350 METRES (5 STARTERS)
Apprentice S. Smith the rider of IN THE GUN was advised to show more care after allowing her mount to shift inwards at the 800 metre mark and tighten the running of BAM (Appr. J. Dagan). Apprentice S. Smith was also admonished by Stewards for using the whip on IN THE GUN whilst that horse was out of contention over the concluding stages of the event. Trainer F. Smith advised the Stewards that IN THE GUN had returned to the enclosure sore and he was of the opinion that the horse would be sent to paddock.
RACE 6: CLASS 1 H’CAP. 1350 METRES (7 STARTERS)
As the gates opened WAITING GAME (T. Williams) jumped inwards. BULLRING BABE (Appr. L. Timson) jumped inwards as the gates opened. BORD NA MONA (R. Barone) hung out off the track when leaving the straight for the first time. BORD NA MONA also hung outwards on the home turn. MILLNEM BUD (D. Simmons) returned to the saddling enclosure with evidence of blood in both nostrils. MILLNEM BUD is now barred from racing for a period of 3 calendar months under AR53A. The Stewards endorsed the horses registration papers accordingly and advised trainer Les Cooke as such.
