STEWARDS REPORT – FRIDAY 6TH OCTOBER, 2000

RACING:
RACE 1 CLASS 2 HCP.1300 METRES - (10 STARTERS) TILBA ROSE (A. Cowie) jumped away awkwardly and blundered shortly after the start.
CAMBRAD jumped in at the start and crowded PRINCE OF ALMS onto IN THE GUN.
GLENBOLT ran wide rounding the first turn.
Approaching the 300 metres IN THE GUN and BEGERE (NZ) came together when racing under pressure.
Inside the 50 metres EUROPA STAR shifted in under pressure and momentarily crowded TILBA ROSE.
Following the event the connections of TILBA ROSE reported that mare had sustained an injury to the off side hoof after losing its plate in the event.
RACE 2 CLASS 1 HCP.1100 METRES - (14 STARTERS) MAURICE was slow to begin.
AMENDS jumped away awkwardly.
KOHINOOR BLUE was hampered at the start between SPICE BOY which jumped out and LITTLE JACK which was taken in by IN THE KICK.
Approaching the 1000 metres DUG ‘N’ ME shifted in and momentarily tightened SEA BOUND onto NO SHOW. As a result SEA BOUND shifted out and made contact with SPICE BOY.
Rounding the first turn AL SHARLEE was crowded between DUMMY BID and CHESS PIECE both of which shifted ground slightly. As a result all three riders raced wide in the middle stages.
Approaching the 200 metres IN THE KICK shifted out under pressure and as a result momentarily tightened NO SHOW onto MAURICE.
RACE 3 MAIDEN HCP.1200 METRES - (8 STARTERS) SPECIAL FIRE jumped out at the start and crowded FORGING’S LASS and CAVALLO VAPORE onto GLORY ROAD.
KING’S LEGEND was slow to begin.
Approaching the first turn SPECIAL FIRE shifted in and struck the running rail and as a result commenced to race fiercely.
At the same stage CAVALLO VAPORE also commenced to race fiercely when being restrained.
A post race vet examination of CAVALLO VAPORE which compounded in the straight failed to detect any abnormality.
RACE 4 3YO CLASS 4 HCP 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS) MAGIC OF MACKAY and ARBEE were both slow to begin.
MISS THREDBO jumped away awkwardly.
A Cowie the rider of STORMY BLUE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137a in that leaving the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in MISTER ADVANTAGE (App. D. Johnston) being placed in restricted room between STORMY BLUE and MAGIC OF MACKAY (J. Piper), and further approaching the 800 metres he continued to shift in resulting in MISTER ADVANTAGE having to be checked by its rider. A. Cowie’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 Capricornia Racing Association meetings to commence after the 7/10/00 and to expire after the 21/10/00.
Approaching the 200 metres MAGIC OF MACKAY shifted in under pressure and momentarily crowded LORD MALCHI onto BELLORN. ARBEE was held up for clear running for some distance approaching the 200 metres. MAGIC OF MACKAY lost its near hind plate in the running.
RACE 5 CLASS 5 HCP. 1200 METRES - (14 STARTERS) On two occasions inside the 600 metres SOVEREIGN CHALICE shifted in and struck the running rail and after entering the straight was unable to obtain clear running.
TALE OF TRIOMPHE was held up for clear running when approaching the 300 metres.
Following the event trainer L. Manzelmann reported TALE OF TRIOMPHE had pulled up lame in the near side hoof.
The judge initially semaphored the number 7,9, 6 following the running of this event, but prior to correct weight being declared he amended the placings to read 7,8,6. Correct weight was declared on the amended placings.
RACE 6 OPEN HCP 1200 METRES - (13 STARTERS) DIVIOT jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the home turn AVION WAY raced awkwardly when being restrained off the heels of DIVIOT.
Approaching the 350 metres DISCO BOB was momentarily held up for clear running.
RACE 7 CLASS 4 HCP 1600 METRES – (11 STARTERS): Approaching the 1100 metres RAMBO’S KWILA (G. Evans) commenced to race in restricted room to the inside of FAIR KWILA which commenced to race ungenerously when being restrained off the heels of MATTRAY.
FAIR KWILA shifted in despite the efforts of its rider Phillip Moodie, resulting in RAMBO’S KWILA having to be checked by its rider.
MY SWEET DARLING which was following FAIR KWILA was also hampered and as a result shifted out causing BRANDON DAN to blunder. In this incident the saddle slipped forward on BRANDON DAN and placed its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event and as a result he was unable to test his mount in the straight.
A post race veterinary examination of BRANDON DAN revealed that gelding to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the off side foreleg.
RACE 8 SPECIAL CONDITIONS HCP 1400 METRES – (14 STARTERS): CARDINIA jumped in at the start and crowded CULATER onto CAUGHT ME.
REGAL STRIKE jumped away awkwardly.
PEGASO commenced to race ungenerously shortly after the start.
After entering the home straight until inside the 100 metres PEMWAY BOY was unable to obtain clear running.
BOOKMAKERS: 6 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
