STEWARDS REPORT – FRIDAY 5TH JANUARY, 2001

GENERAL
RACING:
RACE 1 OPEN HCP. 1000 METRES - (6 STARTERS) D. Evans replaced M. Allen as the rider of TRUST CLIFF. It was established the trainer Mr. N. Brown trainer of TRUST CLIFF, had notified the Rockhampton Jockey Club of his intention to have M. Allen ride TRUST CLIFF however had not formally notified her of the engagement. Mr. N. Brown was fined the sum of $100 for an infringement of AR8e in that he was negligent.
Prior to the start HIGH ENCOUNTER was fractious.
As the gates opened MAN FROM UNCLE (D. Whitmore) reared and subsequently lost ground.
Approaching the 500 metres MAN FROM UNCLE shifted out and in doing so took LET’S EXPLODE (M. Unwin) wider on the track.
RACE 2 1ST DIVISION CLASS 1 HCP. 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS) Michelle Allen was replaced by D. Johnston as the rider of MISTLAK when M. Allen had not arrived on course.
MONOCLE (D. Evans) was slow to begin.
RACE 3 2ND DIVISION CLASS 1 HCP. 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS) At the start SOMETHING TO LOVE (D. Johnston) jumped outwards hampering KENFIRE (M. Unwin) who in turn shifted out and made contact with SHEER EDGE (N. Evans) which had to be steadied off the heels of CRISOMALOUSA (NZ) (D. Whitmore).
At the 1000 metres MAHOGANY JET (M. Allen) commenced to race fiercely which resulted in SOMETHING TO LOVE (D. Johnston) which was trailing having to be steadied which further resulted in M. Unwin rider of KENFIRE, having to steady his mount.
Approaching the 700 metres OOPSCAY (P. Wheeler) made contact with the running rail.
RACE 4 CLASS 4 HCP 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS) At the start KORUPSII (G. Evans) jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 800 metre TANDOAKA (N. Evans) shifted in slightly resulting in MIGHTY SPLENDENT (W. Welburn) having to steady, resulting in D. Simmons rider of BARN DANCE, which was racing in restricted room, having to restrain his mount.
RACE 5 SUPER QRIS 3YO CLASS 3 HCP. 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS) Upon return to scale D. Johnston rider of MISTER ADVANTAGE placed 3rd by the judge, sort permission to view the stewards patrol film with the view of lodging an objection. Upon perusal of the film D. Johnston rider of MISTER ADVANTAGE, lodged an objection on the grounds of alleged interference sustained at approximately the 800 metres caused by GROUCHIE PATTERN (M. Goodwin) first horse past the post.
Stewards considered evidence tendered by both M. Goodwin, D. Johnston and L. Rowe trainer of MISTER ADVANTAGE, and perused all available video shots. Stewards determined that the protest be dismissed with correct weight being declared on the numbers as semaphored by the judge. Subsequently M. Goodwin rider of GROUCHIE PATTERN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISTER ADVANTAGE placing that gelding in restricted room and ultimately losing its position. M. Goodwins licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 Capricornia Racing Association meetings up to and including the 18th January, 2001.
MANREGO (D. Whitmore) and HOODED GEM (D. Simmons) made contact on jumping.
On passing the winning post GROUCHIE PATTERN (M. Goodwin) shifted out abruptly. M. Goodwin was fined the sum of $200 for an infringement of AR137c in that passing the winning post he gestured to the crowd in a celebratory manner which resulted in his mount shifting out.
RACE 6 CLASS 6 HCP 1300 METRES - (11 STARTERS) KORN JULIO (J. Felix) was slow away.
HEROIC BOY (M. Allen) jumped inwards and made contact with GLENBOLT (D. Simmons) and in turn hampered CLAYTON’S DAY (J. Stephens).
Prior to the declaration of correct weight N. Evans rider of HULA WHO requested to view the patrol films in view of possible objection. On perusal of films N. Evans declined to lodge an objection.
Over the concluding stages HULA WHO (N. Evans) was hampered momentarily as a result of the RYDER (W. Welburn) shifting in abruptly. This was compounded by BURRADOO PRINCE (D. Johnston) shifting out under pressure. It was established that as RYDER had improved to the outside of HULA WHO the gelding was inclined to get in and W. Welburn (RYDER) was obliged to straighten his mount. Furthermore D. Johnston (BURRADOO PRINCE) had endeavoured to rectify the waywardness of his mount.
RACE 7 CLASS 2 HCP 1600 METRES – (9 STARTERS): J. Felix rider of DOCTOR SUN placed second by the judge lodged an objection against BENELITE (L. Timson) placed first on the grounds of alleged interference over the concluding 200 metres.
Stewards considered the evidence of both riders and connections and dismissed the protest and ordered that correct weight be declared on the judges numbers as semaphored. It was established that approaching the 200 metres KULA SHAKER shifted out under pressure making contact with BENELITE forcing that gelding to shift out, resulting in DOCTOR SUN (J. Felix) which was improving to the outside of BENELITE having to be steadied and ultimately J. Felix the rider of Dr. Sun was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.
Shortly after DOCTOR SUN was disappointed for a run between KULA SHAKER and BENELITE, which then resulted in J. Felix rider of DOCTOR SUN, altering course to obtain clear running to the outside of BENELITE.
RACE 8 OPEN HCP 1400 METRES – (8 STARTERS): MR. ZODIAC (D. Lloyd) stood flat footed and was slow away.
IMPERIAL ORDER jumped inwards making contact with KAAPSTAR (D. Evans).
Over the concluding 400 metres it was evident that the saddle shifted on MY KING not allowing its rider D. Johnston to ride the gelding out.
BOOKMAKERS: 2 Bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
