STEWARDS REPORT – TUESDAY 26TH JUNE, 2001

RACE 1 MAIDEN PLATE. 1400 METRES (6 STARTERS)..A. Patillo was fined the sum of $100 for an infringement of AR120b in that he accepted a ride for which he could not make the allotted weight. Subsequently J. Felix replaced A Patillo as the rider of CLEMENTINA.
REPAYEE jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 1000 metres CHAIN (C. Beets) which was hanging slightly shied away from SHABITAJ (N. Jolly) which was racing to its outside in advance resulting in CHAIN making heavy contact with the running rail. Subsequently TEXAS RANCHER (K. Pope) which was following CHAIN had to be steadied.
Mr. Ouston trainer of CHAIN advised stewards that he will be endeavouring to rectify the problem and would furthermore be altering the geldings gear.
A post race veterinary examination of CLEMENTINA revealed that the filly was lame in the off fore knee.
RACE 2 CLASS 3 HCP. 1600 METRES (11 STARTERS) MAYBE MAGIC (J. Felix) jumped awkwardly and was subsequently slow to begin.
Approaching the 1400 metres BATU (W. Welburn) which was racing fiercely shifted out and made contact with KORUPSII (B. Appo) which as a result commenced to race ungenerously.
Approaching the 750 metres DATUM CREST which was racing in restricted racing room to the inside of DR. SUN (D. Johnston) had to be steadied when the gelding was inclined to race onto the heels of DR. SUN.
RACE 3 CLASS 6 HCP 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS) As the gates opened TRAVELLIN’ MAN reared resulting in the gelding being slow to begin.
Approaching the 500 metres SAJANA MISS (S. Lovegrove) made contact with the running rail.
Over the concluding stages TRAVILLIN’ MAN was obliged to shift out when racing to the outside of NETAZI (NZ) (K. Pope) heels.
RACE 4 SUPER QRIS 3YO CLASS 2 HCP. 1000 METRES (11 STARTERS). The start was delayed slightly due to LIGHTNING KNIGHT breaking through the barriers.
Approaching the 900 metres POWER HOME SAM (C. Beets) was slightly hampered when tightened for room between LIGHTNING KNIGHT (K. Pope) to his inside and SPECIAL FIRE (N. Jolly) which shifted in to his outside. Shortly after this SPECIAL FIRE (N. Jolly) shifted in when hanging causing POWER HOME SAM to be checked. Stewards advised N. Jolly rider of SPECIAL FIRE, was advised to exercise more care in similar situations, whilst it was evident that his mount was hanging.
Passing the 400 metres LIGHTNING KNIGHT (K. Pope) was slightly hampered by WINE CLUB (D. Johnston) which shifted in under pressure.
RACE 5 CLASS 1 HCP. 1000 METRES (13 STARTERS)..HASSLE’S SISTER jumped outwards and made contact with LEAVITA (G. Evans) which in turn hampered WHISKY A PO PO (S. Apthorpe).
When the gates opened DELTA PRINCE (D. Johnston) knuckled.
J. Felix rider of CLAYPAN DANCE reported to stewards that he was instructed to take his mount to a forward position however when the gelding commenced to over race he was obliged to take hold.
Approaching the 600 metres HASSLE’S SISTER (C Beets) commenced to race greenly which resulted in its rider Craig Beets having to steady the filly.
RACE 6 2YO HCP 1200 METRES (13 STARTERS). At the start BIG SHOT (N. Jolly) jumped awkwardly.
M. Evans rider of LAURIAN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at a point nearing the 600 metres causing crowding to ORIANA LASS (B. Appo) which in turn shifted in hampering BRAVE PAGO (K. Pope) which ultimately had to be checked.
M. Evans licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 Capricornia Racing Association race meetings which will take effect subsequent to his engagements at the Gladstone meeting on 30/6/01. Suspension will expire on Saturday 4/7/01.
RACE 7 CLASS 2 HCP 1200 METRES (14 STARTERS) N. Mannion stable representative for Ric Mannion trainer of WAHTING was fined the sum of $100 for failing to engage a rider.
In the early stages SCAREM HARUM (B. Appo) raced fiercely.
Approaching the 1000 metres SCAREM HARUM had to be steadied when racing to the inside of MAO'S IMAGE (J. Felix).
D. Johnston (a) rider of FROTHY TOP was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift out under pressure at a point nearing the 150 metres when insufficiently clear of ALPAGO (M. Unwin) causing that gelding to be steadied.
RACE 8 CLASS 4 HCP 1200 METRES (15 STARTERS). Approaching the 1000 metres BARN DANCE (D. Simmons) had to be steadied when crowded by ALBITIOUS (M. Evans) which had to be steadied off the heels of AUSSIE’S MATE (P. Wheeler) which was easing due to the pace of the race altering.
Approaching the 500 metres BARN DANCE had to be steadied after making contact with the running rail.
Approaching the 150 metres BRACE SLOT (C. Beets) had to be steadied when BARN DANCE (D. Simmons) shifted out under pressure.
Shortly after BARN DANCE then made contact with JUGLIMO (J. Felix) in turn brushing DANEGOLD (J. Stephens). D. Simmons, rider of BARN DANCE, was advised to exercise care.
RACE 9 OPEN HCP. 1200 METRES (12 STARTERS) DONLANI (C. Beets) jumped awkwardly.
NOT TOO VAIN (G. Evans) raced fiercely in the early stages.
Approaching the 500 metres CARRARA LAD (S. Apthorpe) made the turn awkwardly and shifted out making contact with MANAKWILA (W. Welburn).
BOOKMAKERS: (3) three bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
