RACING:

NONEDIYM NOODLES (W. Welburn) jumped outwards.
Approaching the 450 metres SCAREM HARUM was placed in restricted running resulting in that gelding being steadied.
EBONY CRYSTAL failed to negotiate the turn and ran off.

RACE 2 CLASS 5 HCP 1300 METRES (7 STARTERS). Nothing to report.

RACE 3 CLASS 2 HCP 1100 METRES (7 STARTERS). GOLD BULLET (C Taylor) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 500 metres GOLD BULLET commenced to hang out badly and ran off.
Approaching the 200 metres C Taylor, the rider of GOLD BULLET, eased his mount down to the line in an attempt to keep the gelding on a straight course.
Stewards questioned C Taylor with regards to the performance of GOLD BULLET. Apprentice Taylor reported that the gelding commenced to hang quite badly when turning into the straight and he was unable to ride his mount with vigour over the concluding stages due to the racing manners of the gelding. Stewards noted the explanations of Clinton Taylor.
A subsequent veterinary inspection of GOLD BULLET revealed no abnormalities apart from several lacerations inside the geldings mouth.

RACE 4 CLASS 3 HCP. 1400 METRES (9 STARTERS). KENFIRE (M. Unwin) reared at the start as the gates opened.
Over the concluding 100 metres SANDY SEA (W. Welburn) was inclined to shift in under pressure.

RACE 5 OPEN HCP. 1600 METRES (13 STARTERS)..Upon return to scale A. Williams rider of VOLCANIC SPARKLE placed second by the judge, wished to view the stewards video patrol film with a view of lodging an objection against the winner CAPTAIN SMOOTH.
Upon perusal of the stewards patrol film, Athol Williams formerly lodged an objection on the grounds of alleged interference over the concluding 120 metres against CAPTAIN SMOOTH (D. Simmons) placed first by the judge. Stewards considered submissions tendered by respective jockeys Athol Williams and David Simmons, trainer Mrs Bernadette Williams of VOLCANIC SPARKLE and Mr Bill Trimble trainer of CAPTAIN SMOOTH. After consideration of submissions and viewing of the available patrol films, stewards determined the protest be dismissed. Correct weight was declared on number semaphored by the judge. It was established that over the concluding stages CAPTAIN SMOOTH shifted out under pressure to be racing tightly with VOLCANIC SPARKLE. Stewards were of the opinion that had VOLCANIC SPARKLE lost ground it was not sufficient to reverse the judges placings.
D. Simmons rider of CAPTAIN SMOOTH, was advised to exercise care when permitting his mount to shift out under pressure.

RACE 6 MAIDEN HCP 1400 METRES (10 STARTERS) .At the start HAPPY FESTIVUS (D. Johnston) jumped outwards hampering ITALIAN STAR (J. Stephens).
CARANI (M Unwin) jumped inwards, making contact with MISTER BANKER (C. Beets).
