STEWARDS REPORT FRIDAY 24TH MAY, 2002


STEWARDS PANEL: P. COOPER (CHAIRMAN), J. BOON, G. HARGREAVES,
N. FOX, S. WALSH, D MACKLYN

WEATHER –Fine TRACK – Good

RAIL POSITION: Short Course – Rail out 3 metres from 800m to 400m. True elsewhere

RACE 1: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1600 METRES (8 STARTERS)
When the start was affected both TRUE ENOUGH (A Gillett) and MONEY WASTER (D Simmons) stood flat footed and missed the start.
At approximately the 1000 metre mark MAISON BUSTE (App D Evans) settled in the field which resulted in JACK’S DREAM (A Pattillo) improving onto that horses heels, which resulted in JACK’S DREAM being placed in considerably difficulty and made contact with TRUE ENOUGH (A Gillettt).
Jockey M Bennett rider of RITE TO SUCCESS was severely admonished by the Stewards for allowing his mount to shift outwards over the concluding stages of the event which resulted in ALLIE BOB (B Appo) having to be steadied.

RACE 2: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
PACK OF GOLD (App D Evans) was a late scratching at 11.15am by order of the Stewards.
The Stewards advise Mrs Sullivan that a veterinary certificate would be required for the horse.
As the start was affected IMA BARON (S Quick) jumped inwards and cannoned into UPHOLD (App D Johnston).
Both NORTHERN RESERVE (A Gillett) and MAGIC MICK (D Whitmore) raced greenly throughout the event.
At the 500 metre mark STREAM GUL (S Watkin) hung off the track which resulted in EVER REGAL (M Evans) being taken wide onto the track. When corrected inwards STREAM GUL inconvenienced the running of UPHOLD (App D Johnston). UPHOLD (App D Johnston) laid outwards over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 3: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1100 METRES (14 STARTERS)
As the gates opened GRANDE SEQUALO (D Whitmore) and FIERY GOLD (L Attard) cannoned into each other.
MACGNOME (C Beets) brushed the running rail at approximately the 500 metre mark.
AFTER YOU (App J Dagan) was held up for a clear running over the concluding stages of the event.
MACGNOME (C Beets) laid out over the final stages and made heavy contact with GRANDE SEQUALO (D Whitmore).

RACE 4: CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1100 METRES (11 STARTERS)
Starting time of this event was delayed due to BELLORN (App D Evans) having the bit twisted in its mouth.
IF YOU PLEASE (C Beets) was disappointed for a clear run at the 300 metre mark.
MATTHEW BENNETT the rider of STOP WATCH accidentally dropped his whip at approximately the 100 metre mark.


RACE 5: OPEN H'CAP – 1200 METRES (14 STARTERS)
Jockey M Bennett the rider of TARANA AVENUE was advised to show more care after permitting his mount to shift outwards at the 900 metre mark and inconvenience the running of AMUSING NED (N Coyne) who in turn was taken outwards and hampered INDIAN BRIDE (App J Dagan).
REGAL ASCOT (B Appo) steadied at the 400 metre mark when his mount laid inwards behind TYPHOON TED (M Evans).

RACE 6: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200 METRES (11 STARTERS)
At the 1150 metre mark SHAY DANCER (M Bennett) shifted inwards which dictated the line of ALPAGO (B Appo) inwards, this resulted in TENBY SOMETHING (App L Attard) being inconvenienced. Jockey Bennett was advised to show more care in the future.
At approximately the 600 metre mark MONOCLE (App F Okawa) was steadied momentarily and shifted inwards marginally which resulted in TENBY SOMETHING (App L Attard) being hampered.

RACE 7 OPEN H’CAP – 1200 METRES (16 STARTERS)
SAMMY (C Beets) became momentarily unbalanced at approximately the 350 metre mark.
At the 250 metre mark SCENIC GEM (J Felix) shifted outwards which resulted in MANAKWILA (App D Evans) having to be checked, this further hampered the running of AMBER BOY (M Barnham). Stewards cautioned J Felix and advised him to show more care in the future. It was noted that minimal pressure was being applied to AMBER BOY (M Barnham) by MEGA JET (App T Mathieson).

RACE 8 CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300 METRES (14 STARTERS)
HE’S ALL OURS (J Stephens) became unbalanced when entering the first turn from the back straight at approximately the 800 metre mark.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
4 BOOKMAKERS FIELDED AT THE MEETING.
