STEWARDS REPORT – TUESDAY, 11th March 2003

STEWARDS PANEL: P Cooper (Chairman), G Hargarves, G Meek & G Scott, C Harris (Cadet)

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short Course - Out 2m 1300-800m. Out 4m 800-400m. True Elsewhere. Long Course – Out 3m 700-400m. Cutaway – 400m.

RACE 1:– CLASS 1 HCP ABT. 1600 METRES (8 STARTERS)
As Jockey M Dakiz was indisposed Stewards permitted Jockey M Unwin to be the replacement rider for TROBOK TOWER.
LATE INDICATOR (App D Johnston) was slow into stride as the start was effected.
Jockey T Kruger the rider of RIPASYN was issued a reprimand for allowing her mount to shift inwards at approximately the 1500 metre mark and in doing so inconvenienced the running of LATE INDICATOR (App D Johnston).
Stewards ordered a veterinary inspection be carried following the running of this event on CHAN STAR (App H Watanabe) who tailed off and raced uncompetitively. The inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2:– CLASS 6 HCP. ABT. 1600 METRES (4 STARTERS)
BONZERO (App D Johnston) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected.
TRUE ENOUGH (C Beets) laid outwards abruptly whilst being hard ridden at approximately the 50 metre mark and this resulted in Jockey Beets having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

RACE 3: - MAIDEN PLATE ABT. 1200 METRES (13 STARTERS)
App G Bannister was charged with a breach of AR92(12) for failing to claim his full allowance as the rider of MANEDGE. Subsequently App Bannister was fined the sum of $100.
As the start was effected LUDLOW LAD (App Y Yamazaki) jumped inwards and made contact with KING OF COS (G Evans).
At approximately the 700 metre mark PEACE DANCE began to hang inwards placing Jockey D Lloyd in considerable difficulty. This resulted in his mount applying pressure to THUNDER AND ROSES (R Barone) who in turn shifted inwards, which resulted in LUDLOW LAD (Y Yamazaki) clipping heels of THUNDER AND ROSES.
The Stewards advised Jockey Y Yamazaki, the rider of LUDLOW LAD to show more care after allowing his mount to shift in and hamper the running of TANTITHA TRAVELLER (T Kruger) when rounding the hometurn.

RACE 4– 2YO MAIDEN HCP. ABT 1000 METRES (9 STARTERS)
GALWAY DRIFTER was a late scratching at 1.20pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.
BAY FELT (S Watkin) was reluctant to enter the starting stalls and delayed the starting time of the event. Trainer B Baker was advised that the horse was now barred until such time as it can successfully pass an official barrier trial.
Jockey D Lloyd the declared rider of GREY TURK was unable to make the allotted weight and was subsequently replaced by App Dale Evans. Jockey Lloyd pleaded guilty to a breach of AR120(b) and was fined the sum of $100.
App D Johnston the rider of RURAL SONG was unable to make the allotted weight and was replaced by Jockey J Stephens. App D Johnston pleaded guilty to a breach of AR120(b) and was fined the sum of $100.
BAY FELT (S Watkin) hung out from approximately the 900 metre mark.
MR KNOW IT ALL (C Beets) raced ungenerously from the home turn to the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 5: 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – ABOUT 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
As Jockey M Dakiz was indisposed Stewards permitted Jockey N Jolly be the replacement rider for GRAHABB.
Stewards sort an explanation from Trainer Lyle Rowe to the improved performance of DANJOSE. Mr Rowe informed the Stewards that he felt the horse was having its first start in blinkers and that was the reason for the improvement. Stewards noted his explanation.

RACE 6: 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN H'CAP – ABOUT 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
FLEET STREET (MJ Stephens) was slow into stride as the start was effected.
At approximately the 700 metre mark SIROBS FANTASY (App Y Yamazaki) improved onto the heels of SMEE (ML Evans) and had to be restrained which resulted in contact being made with BACKSTAGE GIRL (M Barnham).


RACE 7: OPEN H'CAP – ABT 1100 METRES (14 STARTERS)
Apprentice G Bannister was unable to make the allotted weight to ride MAO’S IMAGE and was replaced by App Y Yamazaki. App Bannister pleaded guilty to a breach of AR120(b) and was subsequently fined the sum of $150.
App Y Yamazaki, the rider of MAO’S IMAGE was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift inwards at the 900 metre mark which resulted in CHIEF BULLI (D Simms) having to be restrained and lose its position in the field. A further result of this was YALLAH’S POLONAISE (S Quick) had to be steadied off of CHIEF BULLI and BARSAC (M Goodwin) having to be steadied from YALLAH’S POLONAISE.
App Darryl Johnston pleaded guilty to a breach of AR118A in that he did change his body protector after weighing out, subsequently App Johnston was fined the sum of $250.

RACE 8: CLASS 3 H'CAP – ABT 1100 METRES (14 STARTERS)
As App Darryl Johnston was unable to ride the allotted weight on WHISKY A PO PO Stewards permitted Jockey M Unwin be the replacement rider. Subsequently App D Johnston pleaded guilty to a breach of AR120(b) and was fined the sum of $100.
DIVA DIVINE (App D Evans) was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon prior to being loaded into the barriers and was passed fit to resume its place with the field.
As the start was effected DREAMS OF WEALTH (M Barnham) jumped outwards and made contact with WHISKY A PO PO (M Unwin) who in turn shifted out and made contact with WESTERN ROUGE (M Stephens).
Trainer M Crouch was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of LR42(2) in that he presented BIKINI LOVE to race with the incorrect gear. Mr Crouch reported to the Stewards that BIKINI LOVE returned to the enclosure lame in the near foreleg.

RACE 9 CLASS 4 H’CAP – ABT 1300 METRS (14 STARTERS)
BLANCHFLEUR was a late scratching at 3.58pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary Advice.
As the start was effected STORM STRIKE (N Jolly) jumped outwards and made contact with KAJNO (M Barnham).
BIHANNA SEAS (M Stephens) raced ungenerously in the early to middle stages of the event.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
