ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB - STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 10/05/2003


STEWARDS PANEL: Mr P Cooper (Chairman), G Wust C Harris (Cadet)

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good

RAIL POSTION – Short Course Rail out 5m 800m to 400m, 4m elsewhere.
Long Course Rail out 4m from 700m to Winning Post.

RACE 1: CLASS 6 HCP – 1000 METRES (5 STARTERS)
Trainer L.Hearn was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of Lr42(2) in that he failed to lodge an amended stable return for ESPIRE.
No incidents in running.

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS)
YARRAMIN NURI (App L.Timson) broke through the front gates prior to the start being effected. The horse was quickly restrained and resumed its place in the field.
YARRAMIN NURI (App L.Timson) was slow into stride when the start was effected.
Apprentice D.Johnston was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of Ar137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount, ROYAL THONG out to the winning post.

RACE 3: CLASS 2 H'CAP – ABOUT 1200 METRES (9 STARTERS)
TYCOON TED (G.Evans) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected.
RAAMI RHYTHM (M.Evans) was slow into stride.
TYCOON TED (G.Evans) laid inwards at approximately the 200mtr mark, and placed the rider, Jockey G.Evans in difficulty to ride the horse out to the end of the event.
Apprentice D.Johnston was admonished for allowing his mount to shift inwards at approximately the 250mtr mark and inconvenience the running of WITH INTENT (App L.Timson).

RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP- ABOUT 1100 METRES (7 STARTERS)
MISTER PO (App L.Timson) jumped outwards as the gates opened then brushed the running rail at approximately the 900mtr mark.

RACE 5: CLASS 1 H’CAP – ABOUT 1400 METRES (9 STARTERS)
Apprentice T. Mathieson was the replacement rider for HAYCH HOUR when the declared rider N. Nelson was engaged at another venue.
Stewards questioned Jockey G. Booth as to the poor performance of BOLD REGAL which finished a distant last. Jockey Booth informed the stewards that he felt the horse was reluctant to gallop and never responded to vigorous riding at any stage. Stewards noted Jockey Booth’s explanation. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed a substantial amount of dirt in the off-side eye.

RACE 6: CLASS 4 H’CAP – ABOUT 1400 METRES (9 STARTERS)
TAMBO ROAD (S. Quick) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected.
Apprentice D. Johnston was reprimanded under the terms of AR145 in that as the rider of
WILLY NILLY he returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over weight.

SWABBING
Routine samples were taken from all winners and forwarded to the racing science centre for analysis.
