ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 22/07/03

STEWARDS PANEL: R Doyle (Chairman), G Meek, D Macklyn, N Vagg

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short course – out 3m from 1300m to 800m. Out 2m from 800m to winning post
RAIL – Long course – out 3m from 800m to 400m. Cutaway at 400m.

As K Cunningham and M Gray were indisposed the following replacements were approved:

Race 4 PRIVATE RILEY S. Campton
Race 5 COUNT ON KEN T. Mathieson
Race 7 GNAEUS POMPEIUS S. Watkin
Race 7 NEW YORK CINDY H. Watanabe

RACE 1: 3D PAINT BARN SPECIALS CONDITIONS H'CAP – 1000M

Race 1 was delayed 6 min due to the ambulance being late on arrival at the course.

BELLE OF THE WEST jumped out, PARTING JESTER jumped in hampering TURF TIGER at the start.

BELLE OF THE WEST suffered a bleeding attack during the event, mandatory 3month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from BELLE OF THE WEST.

PARTING JESTER pulled up lame in the off side front fetlock. Trainer was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required before renominating.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SIMPLY THE BEST, Trainer R Dowe reported that the gelding pulled up distressed. Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GRACEWICK shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.


RACE 2: J M KELLY PROJECT BUILDERS CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1100M

SOLID REASON jumped in at the start, minor contact with LUCIFERS DOUBLE.

TELEWIN lost offside front plate in running.

RACE 3: ALLENSTOWN HOTEL CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1300M

STAR OF CLANG jumped in the air at the start.

SEAT OF KNOWLEDGE had to be eased at the 1200m to avoid the heels of STAR OF CLANG which shifted in.

RACE 4: BUNDABERG RUM MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M

BOMBADIL jumped in at the start, minor contact with MAPPERNIQUE.
RICKABY CREEK raced greenly in the early and middle stages of the race.

S Campton was reprimanded for allowing his mount PRIVATE RILEY to shift in making contact with PEPPERINA LANE at the 200m.

RACE 5: FITTON INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M

VOGT dwelt as the gates opened and lost ground. Trainer B Boys was advised that a warning would be placed on VOGT in relation to its barrier manners.

RAW TORQUE reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

PACK OF GOLD was cramped for room after leaving the 800m when TYCOON TED shifted in marginally.

FROSTY STAR shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

RACE 6: AALPHA OMEGA HORIZONTAL DRILLING CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M

PEACE DANCE jumped out at the start making contact with ANOTHER POWER.

After leaving the 1200m AVANTE GARDE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROYAL THONG, which shifted in.

At the winning post DEFAMATION had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLAMING PROMISE, which shifted in under pressure.

RACE 7: GLENMORE TAVERN CLASS 4 H'CAP –1500M

LATE WARRIOR and ASSIGN came together on jumping.

ALL ABOUT CLASS tendered to over race at the 800m and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MILLERS GUIDE.

At the 50m STARRY SYMBOLS had to be eased to avoid the heels of COURT COBAIN, which had shifted in under pressure.

MILLERS GUIDE shifted out over the concluding stages.

RACE 8:XXXX OPEN H'CAP – 1500M

Due to a misunderstanding between Trainer A Jenkinson and Jockey A Lane over the engagement for IN THE DISTANCE. B Appo replaced A Lane.

NEW YORK TIMES jumped in the air at the start.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED AND BELLE OF THE WEST.
