THURSDAY 31ST JULY 2003

STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, G Meek, N Fox, N Vagg

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short Course Out 3m 1300 metres – 800 metres. Out 2m 800 metres to the winning post.
Long Course Out 3m 800 metrers – 400 metres. Cutaway at 400 metres.

GENERAL REPORT;
Race 2 FILZAO scratched by order of the Stewards at 9.57am when that horse’s papers were found not to be in order.
Race 4 BELLE D’ACCENT. T Kruger reported indisposed and replaced by C Beets.
Race 5 PALMA STAR scratched on veterinary advice at 9.51am.
Race 7 AWESOME LAD scratched on veterinary advice at 3.55pm.
Race 8 LUCKY LAURIE scratched on veterinary advice at 12.20pm.
RACE 1: CLASS 6 PLATE – 1500 METRES (7 STARTERS)
UPHOLD (H Watanabe) jumped outwards into BALMY BAR (M Evans). UPHOLD drifted out over the concluding stages.
ALL ABOUT CLASS (D Johnston) drifted out over the concluding stages.

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 METRES (11 STARTERS)
PEPPERINA LANE (D Tanti) jumped inwards coming into contact with RAISE THE RAIN (B Appo). CRAZY FELLA (K Cunningham) disappointed for a run from the 250 metres to the 100 metres. M Gray reported ill following his ride on PRIVATE RILEY and was examined by the paramedics who recommended he stand down for the remainder of the meeting. Stewards advised M Gray that he would require a medical certificate before riding again.

RACE 3: CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1500 METRES (16 STARTERS)
M Gray indisposed replaced by H Watanabe on ROYAL THONG.
GREY CHIFFON (B Appo) very slowly away.
THUNDER AND ROSES (R Barone) trapped wide from the 900 to the 600 metres.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
MISS WINEMAKER (M Bennett) jumped inwards at the start.
An inquiry was held into the activities of jockey agent W ROWLAND. Stewards found that he was unlicensed and fined him the sum of $100.00 AR85A(2).

RACE 5: MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100 METRES (10 STARTERS)
RED GOER (M Evans) jumped outwards into ALL TOGETHER (G Evans).
STORM LIGHT (G Booth) jumped outwards into ISA GIRL (D Whitmore).
ALL TOGETHER raced greenly throughout inconveniencing JOFFA’S APPEAL (M Bennett) on the home turn. Stewards ordered that ALL TOGETHER barrier trail to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to renominating.
STORM LIGHT over raced in the early stages of the race.

RACE 6: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200 METRES (11 STARTERS)
FROSTY STAR (J Foster) lugged out from the home turn to the winning post giving its jockey a difficult ride.
MATTHEW BENNETT was treated by the paramedics for an injury to his right foot caused by striking the barriers. He declared himself unfit to ride in the last two races and Stewards ordered that he supply a medical certificate prior to his riding again.

RACE 7: CLASS 5 HCP– 1200 METRES (10 STARTERS)
M BENNETT replaced by M BARNHAM on PRINCE ZEDDAAN.
COURT COBAIN (C Beets) had to be checked at the 500 metres when that horse commenced to over race and was disappointed for a run approaching the 300 metres.

RACE 8: OPEN H'CAP – 1200 METRES (12 STARTERS)
M BENNETT replaced by B Appo on HUZZA.
When being led to the track CORD pulled away from its handler and returned to the stables. The horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed to start.
GO ROCKY bled by both nostrils for the first time and was banned from racing for 3 months.
An inquiry was held into an incident about the 300 metres in which CORD (C Beets) had to be checked off the heels of GO ROCKY (M Evans) when that horse shifted out sharply. Stewards gave M Evans of a very grave doubt due to his mount bleeding during the running of the race and no action was taken.

ALL WINNERS AND GO ROCKY WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
FOUR (4) BOOKMAKERS FIELDED AT THE MEETING.
