At about the 600 metre mark SAILOR (S Quick) shifted out marginally forcing LOCAL BLOKE ( M Bennett ) wider on the home turn.

An inquiry was held into a incident at about the 900 metre mark where INVERSE RATIO (L Morrison) clipped heels of FACIAL (G McKeon). Jockey M J Stephens (SUNRISE ROAD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear and after taking into account his good record he was suspended from riding in races from 18/12/2004 up to and including 25/12/2004 (5 meetings).

GENERAL:
R Mules was questioned as to his reasons why he failed to fulfill his engagements on EBONY EDGE on 10/12/04. He explained the car he borrowed broke down on the way to the course in an area with no mobile coverage. He was not picked up until 7pm. Trainer W Pomfrett corroborated this.
