Due to a clerical error, the race was incorrectly advertised in the book as being for 3 YO’S, when it should have been for 3 YO’S & Upwards. All other paperwork relating to the race was correct.
Trainer P Dwyer was fined $50 - AR140B (2), for presenting STILL WATER with incorrect gear.
As the gates opened, WOKE UP BROKE jumped inwards, coming into contact with ERROL STREET.
Shortly after the start, when being restrained, REGAL HENRY threw its head in the air, and commenced to over-race, and at about the 750 metres, had to be steadied when placed in restricted racing room when LIVINGSTONE COUNTY shifted in slightly.
ERROL STREET was held up for clear running at the 300 metres.
LIVINGSTONE COUNTY was held up for clear running at the 300 metres.

The veterinarian reported that the horse was lame in the left fore limb.
Apprentice B Hull was fined $100 - AR92(12), for failing to claim his full allowance on LITTLE MS GORGEOUS.
SPRINGSURE ROAD, which was slow to begin, was hampered a short distance later between CLANG GOES THEBELL and SIR ALISTER, which shifted out.
On jumping away, DIFFERENTIAL blundered and shifted in, and made contact with MONASH GRADUATE.
Stewards enquired into the poor performance of SIR ALISTER. Jockey D Evans stated that the horse was travelling well till about the 450 metres, where he had to place the horse under pressure to hold his position, and the horse compounded badly from the 250 metres mark. He eased the horse down over the concluding stages, feeling that something was amiss with the gelding. Trainer L Rowe stated that the jockey had carried out his instructions in the early and middle stages, but could not explain the horse’s failure to run on. He also stated that the horse was distressed on pulling up. Both explanations were noted.
A subsequent veterinary examination of SIR ALISTER failed to reveal any abnormalities, but the veterinarian recommended an endoscopic examination of the gelding. Trainer L Rowe has been advised that the gelding requires a veterinary certificate to include an endoscopic examination prior to starting again. Stewards ordered a routine swab sample to be taken from the gelding.
A veterinary examination of CRAIGLEA KNIGHT revealed minor skin lacerations to the upper left fore limb, which were sustained when jumping from the barrier.
B Hull was reprimanded for allowing LITTLE MS GORGEOUS to shift in when insufficiently clear, hampering MONASH GRADUATE at about the 1000 metres.

HOWLEY HALL was slow to begin.
HOWLEY HALL, which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of INNKEEPER’S STAR at the 1100 metres.
KUMATAI and BIANCA’S HERO bumped on jumping away.
KUMATAI over-raced in the early stages.
ROIALTE had to be restrained at the 1100 metres, when placed in restricted room by FIRE ANT.
LION DOWN was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages.
A protest was lodged by R Barone, the rider of 2nd placed FOUR JACKS against FIRE ANT (B Hull) being declared the winner alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties, viewing the video, and on their own observations, stewards dismissed the objection and placings stood. Apprentice B Hull was reminded of his responsibilities when his mounts shift during a race.
Jockey R Barone was charged with misconduct for his behaviour during the enquiry. He pleaded guilty, and was fined $200 -AR175(q).
