Race 1: Maiden Plate (3yo & up S/W) – 1000 metres
1st: GENERAL ARTHUR 2nd: PRIMODORO 3rd LEA LISA 4th: SESSANTANOVE
A veterinary certificate was produced for PROVOCATIVE MISS clearing that horse to start.
FARNBOROUGH ROAD was slowly away.
At about the 800 metres, STRENGTH AND HONOR stepped out sharply, coming into contact with LEA LISA, causing that horse to be checked.
STRENGTH AND HONOR hung badly on the home turn.
APRIMADONNA (NZ) drifted out over the concluding stages.
Trainer’s representative L Plumb was advised that a warning under (LR36(b)) would be placed on STRENGTH AND HONOR regarding its racing manners.
Trainer M Cooney was fined $50 under (AR140(A)) for presenting FARNBOROUGH ROAD with incorrect gear.

Race 2: Class 6 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st: VORACIOUS 2nd: CRAIGLEA QUEEN 3rd: MOMENTUM 4th: KING JON JON
Prior to the start, GRAND SEQUALO was examined by the veterinarian and was cleared to start.
Approaching the 450 metres, KING JON JON rolled out, causing KID CHARLEMAGNE to be forced wide and steadied from the heels of MOMENTUM, which shifted in momentarily.
Over the concluding stages, KING JON JON was disappointed for a run.

Race 3: Class 4 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st: NICEOSS 2nd: BACKHAND 3rd: OLD GOLD FOR ME 4th: RORY’S NORTH
NICEOSS drifted out over the concluding stages.
BACKHAND lay in over the concluding stages.
An enquiry was opened into an incident at about the 1000 metres, in which NEDIYM’S IMAGE was forced to ease from the heels of BACKHAND, which in turn, was steadied from NICEOSS.
N Evans, the rider of NICEOSS, was given the benefit of a very grave doubt, and was issued with a severe reprimand under (AR137(a)).
Trainer’s representative T Cook was told to advise trainer N Petersen that he had been fined $50 under (LR83(b)) for the horse BACKHAND arriving late on the course.


Race 4: Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st: CLOSED OUT 2nd: COP SHOP 3rd: BIG DAVE 4th: MOURVEDRE
Stewards permitted apprentice L Fyfe to ride AMBER KING when he was unable to take his full claim, as no other rider was available.
OCTAGONAL’S STAR was fractious in the barriers. The horse was examined by the veterinarian and was cleared to start. Stewards ordered a further veterinary examination on OCTAGONAL’S STAR after the race, which revealed marginally short stepping in the right hind.
COP SHOP blundered at the start.
Shortly after start, CLOSED OUT shifted in and bumped MOURVEDRE, which in turn bumped COP SHOP.
Shortly after this incident, CLOSED OUT shifted in, and MOURVEDRE, which had commenced to over-race, was forced to move in, and in doing so, caused COP SHOP to be checked.
Jockey G Booth (CLOSED OUT) was issued with a severe reprimand under (AR137 (a)).
Trainer G Wehlow was fined $50 under (AR59A(a)) for failure to produce documents of description for SERIOUS HERO.
Apprentice L Fyfe was fined $50 under (AR92(12)) for failing to claim his full allowance.
Apprentice L Fyfe was fined $50 under (AR145) for weighing in in excess of .5kg.

Race 5: QTIS 3 & 4yo Class 4 Handicap –1300 metres
1st: KAS NEDIYM 2nd: TRY SOME MAGIC 3rd: SHORE 4th FOUR JACKS
From the 1200 to the 1000 metres, both CRAIGLEA PATH and MYDAM TWIST tended to over-race, and had to be restrained.

Race 6: Special Conditions Handicap – 1600 metres
1st: MAGRITTE 2nd: CEARNAIGH 3rd: ADILLO ADILLO (NZ) 4th: KID TREASURE
At about the 350 metres, DON’T MUKAROUND drifted out, coming into contact with ADILLO ADILLO (NZ).
SHAKESPEARIAN drifted out over the concluding stages.

Race 7: Class 3 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st: DIFFERENTIAL 2nd: LION DOWN 3rd: HIGH KWILA 4th: SAVANNAH ROAD
SAVANNAH ROAD was slowly away.
Approaching the 700 metres, and again at the 600 metres, SAVANNAH ROAD, which had commenced to over-race, had to be steadied from the heels of JUMPIN’ JARED.

GENERAL: Foreman M Cochrane, representing trainer D Crouch, was advised to inform D Crouch that the stewards had fined him $50 under (LR83 (b)) on two counts for being late on the course with horses MAIZY DAYS (Race 4) and LINK HOGTHROB (Race 5).
Trainer D Crouch was fined $50 under (LR70 (1)) for failure to declare a rider for MAIZY DAYS (Race 4), by the prescribed time.
Stewards spoke to foreman M Cochrane with regard to his dress.
