Race 1: Class 1 – 1600 metres
1st: POOP DECK PAPPY 2nd: OUR JIM BEAU (NZ) 3rd ART SUCCESS (NZ) 4th: BELLO GINO
OUR JIM BEAU (NZ) jumped in at the start, making contact with BURLEE GIRL.
At about the 1200 metres, SYDNEY JACK shifted in slightly, causing FORGOT to steady, and placing POTENTIATE in restricted room. Shortly after that, POTENTIATE became unbalanced and brushed the fence.
Over the concluding stages, POOP DECK PAPPY drifted in, and OUR JIM BEAU (NZ) drifted out. Both horses brushed on the line.
STAMUS PRO HONNEUR raced wide in the straight.
Jockey W Morris the rider of UNIQUE ASCOT was fined $50 under (AR120(b)) for being unable to make the allotted weight. He was replaced by jockey P Saunders.

Race 2: Class 3 Handicap – 1600 metres
1st: GRAND SEMI 2nd: DIFFERENTIAL 3rd: TSOLIAS (NZ) 4th: CRAIGLEA WARRIOR
MOORABBIN OVAL jumped out making contact with TSOLIAS (NZ).
IDIDIT MY WAY (NZ) jumped out making heavy contact with GOLD TRUCE.
Leaving the 600 metres, GRAND SEMI shifted out to take a run, and in doing so, caused MOORABBIN OVAL to be steadied.
Jockey D Lloyd was fined $50 under (AR85(B)) for failing to fulfill his engagement on (FLUFFIES REEF). He was replaced by jockey L Timson.

Race 3: QTIS 2yo Handicap – 1000 metres
1st BONVOLONTE 2nd BOSS GIRL 3rd FLEET THE BONGO 4th CIVILIAN
FINE SEAS jumped out at the start, making heavy contact with FOUR SOX.
At about the 750 metres, SON OF WAR was cramped for galloping room when ROLLAWAY stepped in marginally.
Both CIVILIAN and BONVOLONTE struck the running rail at about the 400-metre mark. SON OF WAR raced awkwardly and blundered rounding the home turn.
Shortly after straightening and when securing a run, BONVOLONTE (J Grisedale) shifted out sharply, and in doing so, bumped REIGNING HAIL. Jockey J Grisedale was reminded of his responsibilities.
SURE GUN GAL compounded badly and finished well back. Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of SURE GUN GAL, which revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: F & M Class 2 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st: ALEYSA KAN 2nd: CASH MISTRESS 3rd: CINDY KATE 4th: SCARLET SARI
An enquiry was held into an incident at about the 450 metres, in which MAIZY DAYS struck the heels of SANITA, and blundered. Apprentice C McIver pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under (AR137(a)), and was suspended from riding in races up to and including 25/6/05 (Two (2) CRA Meetings).

Race 5: Open Handicap –1000 metres
1st: THE FALCON 2nd: TOWN PLAYER 3rd: GENERATOR 4th HERACLES
HERACLES jumped out making heavy contact with GENERATOR, resulting in GENERATOR having to be steadied.
Leaving the 700 metres, THE FALCON shifted away from the fence, causing KAPITZA to be taken wider.
Rounding the home turn, THE FALCON tended to lay out.
Jockey B Thomson (DISTINCTLY) was fined $50 under (AR145) for weighing in, in excess of .5kg.

Race 6: Rockhampton Gold Cup Open Handicap – 2000 metres
1st: KOHNRAY STAR 2nd: MAGRITTE 3rd: LEGAL BRIEF 4th: CELTIC TRIAL
In the early stages MIDNIGHT AVENUE refused to settle, and raced with its head in the air for some distance.
At the start, LEGAL BRIEF jumped out onto ON A HIGH.
Leaving the straight for the first time, LATINLOVER (NZ) shifted out sharply, forcing MYCENAE wider on the track. Jockey A Best reported to stewards that the bit had pulled through the horse’s mouth during the race.
ON A HIGH was held up for clear running between the 300 – 200 metre mark.
Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination on GET IT GOOD (NZ), which revealed no abnormalities, however it was reported that the gelding had lost its near fore plate during the race.

Race 7: Class 5 Handicap –1200 metres
1st: STIPEND (NZ) 2nd: SPOOKYS BEACH 3rd: ST SPARTICA 4th: DOODA HUCKLEBUCIK
During the running of the race TOPAZIOS bled from both nostrils. A routine swab sample was ordered by the stewards.
DOODA HUCKLEBUCK was slow to begin.
STIPEND (NZ) tended to over-race in the early to middle stages.
