SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Steward’s considered a request from trainer A Stephens to have a dead track or worse bar placed on Race 2, Colonial Bill and Race 3, Innocent Encounter at Saturday’s, Rockhampton Jockey Club, 10th June 2006 removed. After considering the trainers submissions and Saturdays weather conditions which resulted in the meeting being abandoned, stewards acceded to the request and lifted the bar, permitting both horses to start.
As jockey D Johnston was indisposed he was replaced as per steward’s summary sheet.
As jockey C Beets was indisposed he was replaced as per steward’s summary sheet.
As apprentice T Bannon did not arrive on course due to traffic complications she was replaced in races 1 & 2 as per steward’s summary sheet.
L Morrison, who was stood down by the clubs medical officers after the running of race 4, was replaced in races 8 & 9 as per steward’s summary sheet.
Race 1: NQX GLADSTONE/EMERALD MAIDEN H’CAP - 1400M.
1st – SUNSHINE TYCOON 2nd – REGAL HENRY 3rd – TIME TO GAZE 4th – SO FORTH
MADDISON COURT (C Whiteley) jumped out at the start taking SUNSHINE TYCOON (App M Radecker) out onto OBAN (M Cant).
KAPPTIVE BOUNTY (App A Coome) began awkwardly and then raced wide throughout the race.
Leaving the 1000m MADDISON COURT (C Whiteley) commenced to race ungenerously and had a tendency to lay out, then near the 600m shifted out making contact with OBAN (M Cant), shortly after, MADDISON COURT commenced to hang out, shifting wider on the track and was retired from the race leaving the 500m, BUNBURY (J Stephens) which was following had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of MADDISON COURT as a result.
C Whiteley, the rider of MADDISON COURT reported to stewards that the bit pulled through the filly’s mouth. J Wigginton, the trainer of MADDISON COURT was advised the horse must trial to the stewards satisfaction prior to its next start.
TIME TO GAZE (D Evans) lay out under pressure over the final 200m.
Race 2: GOLDING CONTRACTORS CLASS 2 H’CAP 1400M.
1st – OUR YOUNG EMPEROR 2nd – REGAL ACCLAIM 3rd – STORM CITY 4th – SEATTLE ZIP
SHAZRADAD (App D Carrigg) had to be eased shortly after the start when tightened for room between REUBENS GOLD (S Quick) and THE ROAN RANGER (App M Morris) which both shifted ground.
STORM CITY (D Evans) began awkwardly, then shortly after the start shifted in having to be steadied off the heels of THE ROAN RANGER (App M Morris) and then commenced to overrace for a short distance.
Race 3: 3D PAINT QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M.
1st – LET’S NOT 2nd – SOUNDSLIKEJAZZ 3rd – HATANGI 4th – MY GREEN MACHINE
The start was delayed when both WINONA BRAVE (N Evans) and GRACE’S GREY (L Morrison) were declared late scratchings at 1.15pm after WINONA BRAVE was unable to loaded and L Morrison, the rider of GRACE’S GREY sustained an injury when that horse broke through the barriers after becoming unsettled when TUSCAN SHADOW (C Whiteley) became fractious in the barriers. TUSCAN SHADOW was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on WINONA BRAVE and GRACE’S GREY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. T McMahon, the trainer of WINONA BRAVE was advised the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
HARRY TOOK A LOT (App R Plumb) jumped out at the start making contact with GLENDALE PRIDE (App A Coome).
SOUNDSLIKEJAZZ (M Barnham) was disappointed for a run between HARRY TOOK A LOT (App R Plumb) and GLENDALE PRIDE (App A Coome) near the 400m having to alter course.
Both HARRY TOOK A LOT (App R Plumb) and GLENDALE PRIDE (App A Coome) raced wide throughout the race.
HATANGI (M Cant) had tendency to lay out for a majority of the race.
HARRY TOOK A LOT (App R Plumb) dropped his whip near the 300m.
A post race veterinary inspection of TUSCAN SHADOW failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: CEMENT AUSTRALIA QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – FINE SEAS 2nd – AKOWE 3rd – STAR OF TRINITY 4th – CYCLONE GEORGE
L Morrison was examined by the clubs medical officers and cleared to fulfil her further engagements.
The start was delayed a considerable time due to repairs being made to the running rail when XODIA, dislodged its rider G Booth, during its preliminary and crashing through the inside running rail being declared a late scratching at 1.50pm. M Cooney the trainer of XODIA was advised a warning would be placed on that horse’s parading manners.
The start was further delayed when JAYDEES COUNTY was declared a late scratching at 2.12pm after it broke through the barriers riderless and escaped off the course proper before being caught. A Jones, the trainer of JAYDEES COUNTY was advised a warning would be placed on that horses barrier manners.
AKOWE (L Morrison) which began awkwardly shifted in making contact with ONALAR (D Green).
CYCLONE GEORGE (App D Carrigg) began awkwardly.
Both LAID BACK JACK (S Quick) and STAR OF TRINITY (App T Bannon) raced wide throughout the race.
L Morrison was examined by the clubs medical officers following the event and was stood down from her further engagements and was replaced as per steward’s summary sheet.
Due to considerable time being lost, all remaining races were rescheduled as follows:
Race 5, 2.45pm – Race 6, 3.20pm – Race 7, 3.55pm – Race 8, 4.35pm and Race 9, 5.10pm.
Race 5: NQX ROCKHAMPTON OPEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – TEMPLE JACK 2nd – KING HUNTER 3rd – MR BALLISTIC 4th – PRIDE AND POWER
GENERATOR (App C McIver) jumped in at the start forcing ATRIUMS (D Lloyd) in onto CRAIGLEA BELLS (App D Peisley) which lost ground.
KAPITZA (N Evans) raced wide throughout the race.
Race 6: BEST DOORS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M.
1st – BELLO GINO 2nd – STRATEGIC WIN 3rd – LEA LISA 4th – HARD WOOD FOREST
HARD WOOD FOREST (App L Dillon) was tightened for room at the start between BROWNS PLAINS (D Green) and HEAVENLY CRUISE (App C Gilby) which both shifted ground.
BROWNS PLAINS (D Green) commenced to overrace shortly after the start and near the 800m threw its head in the air and shifted out abruptly having to be checked off the heels of STRATEGIC WIN (N Evans) losing ground, PAMELA JEAN (J Stephens) and STRATEGIC MADNESS (App R Plumb) which were racing to its outside were forced wider on the track, EMPIRE BURLESQUE (C Whiteley) which was following had to be steadied and shift out as a result.
The clubs veterinary surgeon reported that STRATEGIC MADNESS was found to have bled following the event. As this was the horse’s first bleeding attack it will now incur the mandatory three month ban.
Race 7: GREENSTEEL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M.
1st – RAPID RUBY 2nd – DUMA STAR 3rd – DODA 4th – KENYA KEEPA SECRET
LILLY BE SMART (App M Radecker) began awkwardly.
DUMA STAR (A Erhart) jumped in at the start making contact with AURAMII (App C McIver) which inturn shifted in making contact with RADAR ALERT (App R Plumb).
OUR OLIVER YING (App M Morris) jumped in at the start taking SACRED HARMONY (App C Pay) in onto ZITI (App A Coome).
DODA (S Quick), ERROL STREET (L Timson) and OUR OLIVER YING (App M Morris) all raced wide throughout the race.
Race 8: MCDONALD’S ROCKHAMPTON GOLD CUP OPEN H’CAP – 2000M.
1st – FASTNESS 2nd – DELICATA 3rd – AWESOME WARRIOR 4th – FAMOUS DANE
As D Lloyd was overweight, he was replaced as the rider of PILLIGA by L Timson. At a further inquiry stewards accepted D Lloyds explanation and no further action was taken.
GO GAZZA was declared a late scratching at 2.54pm by order of stewards acting on vet’s advice.
ARENACEOUS (App B Young) was slow to begin.
MAIZY MAY (J Stephens) made contact with DEBONAIR (N Evans) at the start when both horses shifted ground.
TYCOON TED (App D Carrigg) commenced to overrace shortly after the start until leaving the 1000m.
Both FAMOUS DANE (M Barnham) and TYCOON TED (App D Carrigg) raced wide throughout the race.
On jumping away, the saddle of LEGAL BRIEF (App C Pay) slipped back placing its rider at a disadvantage throughout the race, and near the 1400m shifted in inconveniencing DEBONAIR (N Evans) which had to be steadied, ARENACEOUS (App B Young) which was following had to be checked after improving onto the heels of DEBONAIR.
Race 9: NQX MACKAY CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1100M.
1st – CRAIGLEA EMMA 2nd – CRAIGLEA MISS 3rd – YO KIDOKI 4th – ROCK OF MUFASA
Both EXCITIUM (App M Radecker) and CORRIENTE (D Green) were slow to begin.
Leaving the 600m SPOOKYS BEACH (App C Gilby) shifted out making contact with BIG DAVE (M Cant).
RORY’S NORTH (S Quick) was unable to obtain clear running from the 200m until the 50m.
MYDAM TWIST (App M Morris) was held up for clear running leaving the 200m until the finish line.
Both ONE ALONE (T Bannon) and YO KIDOKI (App A Coome) raced wide throughout the race.
ALL WINNERS, 2nd PLACEGETTERS IN RACES 3 & 8 AND STATEGIC MADNESS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
