SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Jockey M Bennett, who was indisposed, was replaced as per steward’s summary. M Bennett was advised he must produce a medical certificate of fitness prior to his next race riding engagement.
Race 1: ALLENSTOWN HOTEL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M.
1st – PACIFIC SEA 2nd – TOP RANGE 3rd – FRISCO BOY 4th – I’M FABULOUS
The start was delayed when TOP RANGE (App D Peisley) required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers.
SHOVE OVER (M Usher) and FRISCO BOY (App A Coome) came together on jumping away.
OUR MOE MAN (C Whiteley) was tightened for room on jumping away between LEICANAVALANCHE (App N Thomas) and PACIFIC SEA (W Morris) which shifted inwards.
LEICANAVALANCHE (App N Thomas) over raced for a short distance leaving the 1300m.
Near the 300m RUN LIKE BLAZES (L Timson) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SHOVE OVER (M Usher) which shifted out under pressure. M Usher, the rider of SHOVE OVER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
MERDEX (S Quick) which had a tendency to lay in had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FRISCO BOY (App A Coome) which shifted out under pressure.
MERDEX (S Quick) raced wide for the majority of the event.
TOP RANGE (D Peisley) lost its off hind plate in running.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TORREQUEBRADA, jockey D Craven stated that the horse did not travel comfortably throughout the event and in his opinion raced like a horse reaching the end of its preparation. T Hess the trainer of TORREQUEBRADA was at loss to explain the horses performance today and further added that he would advise the owners to send the horse for a spell. T Hess undertook to advise stewards should anything come to light which may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance today. A post race veterinary examination of TORREQUEBRADA failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.
A post race veterinary inspection of FRISCO BOY, revealed the gelding to have bowed its off fore tendon. B Crear, the trainer of FRISCO BOY, was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior the horses next start.
Race 2: MINE WORKERS CLUB BLACKWATER CLASS 6 PLATE – 1000M.
1st – MR ENTERTAINMENT 2nd – NO MORE DREAMS 3rd – SUNTANNED 4th – SPEEDEX
SPEEDEX which was kicked behind the barrier stalls, prior to the start, was inspected by the club’s veterinary officer and passed fit to start.
SUNTANNED (App S Holcombe) jumped in at the start and made contact with VULCAN (App T Bannon).
RATHILLET (L Timson) raced wide throughout the event.
Race 3: RAY WHITE ROCKHAMPTON CITY CLASS PLATE – 1000M.
1st – EYELASHES 2nd – STARANA 3rd – WAY HOME 4th – RENDERER
The start was delayed when OUR GENERAL (D Craven) broke through the barrier stalls. OUR GENERAL was quickly restrained by its rider, examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
RENDERER (J Welburn) and HUGH LEO (G Booth) jumped away awkwardly.
RENDERER (J Welburn) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
EYELASHES (N Evans) became unbalanced near the 500m and shifted in brushing the inside running rail.
RENDERER (J Welburn) was held up for clear running leaving the 400m and near the 300m was momentarily hampered by OUR GENERAL (D Craven) which became unbalanced and shifted in. OUR GENERAL raced ungenerously for a short distance thereafter.
Race 4: THE COFFEE HOUSE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M.
1st – GOLDEN POINT 2nd – BEAUTIFUL DIVKA 3rd – EIGHT RELIC 4th – CYCLONE GEORGE
EIGHT RELIC (App D Peisley) and HELL (C Whiteley) were both slow to begin.
Near the 700m RHUVIMBO (J Welburn) shifted in and made contact with EIGHT RELIC (App D Peisley). As a consequence EIGHT RELIC became unbalanced and shifted out resulting in RHUVIMBO having to be steadied when tightened onto the hindquarters of CHAMPAGNEBAR (App S Bogenhuber).
KIPCHOGE (App R McMahon) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of HELL which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormality.
P Fleming, the trainer of UNINFORMED (M Usher), which proved difficult to load and raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages, was advised that the gelding must perform in an official trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to good.
Race 5: PATLAW SECURITIES AUTUMN C’SHIP QUAL HEAT QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – MY GREEN MACHINE 2nd – KEY ALTO 3rd – HENRYHAWK 4th – SWEET ‘N’ INNOCENT
The start was delayed when CRAIGLEA JO proved difficult to load, J Herriot, trainer of CRAIGLE JO, was advised that the filly must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
CRAIGLEA CASSIE (M USHER), CRAIGLEA JO (N Thomas) and INNOCENT ENCOUNTER (J Stephens) were all slow to begin.
INNOCENT ENCOUNTER (J Stephens) shifted in near the 900m causing STELLA CHIARA (C Whiteley) to be steadied and shift in momentarily crowding the running of HENRYHAWK (D Evans) and again near the 800m shifted in further inconveniencing STELLA CHIARA.
J Stephens, the rider of INNOCENT ENCOUNTER, was reprimanded and advised to show more care when shifting ground.
KEY ALTO (App A Coome) was disappointed for run to the inside of MY GREEN MACHINE (D Craven) rounding the home turn.
FINE SENSATION (L Timson) lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 6: THE ROCK BUILDING SOCIETY CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M.
1st – CAN GO 2nd – SHOCK TROOPER 3rd – STRATLIN PARK 4th – ZARIZITIZ
EVADING (D Evans) was declared a late scratching at 3.49pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice when that horse became fractious in the barrier stalls. ADELONG, which was positioned next to EVADING was inspected by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on EVADING were ordered to be refunded and deductions of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable.
L Applewaite, stable representative for trainer D. Badham was advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
PRIVATE DODGE (W Morris) began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly causing its rider to become unbalanced and as a result almost being dislodged.
SHOCK TROOPER (R McMahon) was momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 400m.
ZARIZITIZ (D Johnston) was held up for clear running from near the 400m to inside the 300m.
STRATLIN PARK (J Welburn) was held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m.
FRACTURED (App A Coome) and PIXEL WORLD (D Craven) both raced wide throughout the event.
Race 7: MCDONALD’S GLENMORER CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – HANDY HERO 2nd – SPRING BLITZ 3rd – GIGGLING BOY 4th – DANCING SAILOR
App L Fyfe, who was unable to ride at today’s meeting, was replaced by App R McMahon, as the rider of SPRING BLITZ.
MAPPERNIQUE (S Watkin) jumped away awkwardly causing its rider make contact with the off side barrier partition and become unbalanced and as a result was dislodged giving S Watkin a seemingly harmless fall.
DANCE WARS (App N Thomas) stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground.
INSPECTION (App S Bogenhuber) blundered on jumping away.
REAF SHAR BAYE (C Whiteley) began awkwardly.
MARYVALLEYRATTLER (App S Holcombe), DANCING SAILOR (N Evans) and GIGGLING BOY (D Johnston) were all tightened for room at the start between HANDY HERO (L Timson) which jumped outwards and GUDUNOV (J Stephens) which jumped inwards. MARYVALLEYRATTLER had to be checked and lose its position as a result.
Approaching the 1100m DECEIVING (S Quick) shifted in taking HANDY HERO (L Timson) in, causing LIGHTON (D Evans) to be steadied when placed in restricted room. S Quick, the rider of DECEIVING, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
Leaving the 1100m DANCING SAILOR (N Evans) had to be steadied when tightened for room by MARYVALLEYRATTLER (App S Holcolmbe) which shifted in.
Approaching the 800m DECEIVING (S Quick) had a tendency to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of INSPECTION (App S Bogenhuber).
MARYVALLEYRATTLER (App S Holcombe) had to be steadied near the 500m when momentarily crowded for room by SPRING BLITZ (App R McMahon) which lay in. LIGHTON (D Evans) which was following had to be steadied as a result.
After being held up for clear running for the majority of the straight, MARYVALLEYRATTLER (App S Holcombe) shifted out near the 150m making contact with FORADE (App A Coome) which was attempting a doubtful run between GIGGLING BOY (D Johnston) and SPRING BLITZ (App R McMahon) which had a tendency to lay in under pressure, as a result FORADE became unbalanced and clipped the heels of SPRING BLITZ and blundered. Apprentice A Coome, the rider of FORADE was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
DECEIVING (S Quick) shifted out leaving the 300m to attempt a narrow run between INSPECTION (App S Bogenhuber) and GUDUNOV (J Stephens), making contact with GUDUNOV for a short distance, and near the 200m had to be steadied when further tightened for room between GUDUNOV and INSPECTION which was tiring and shifted out slightly. S Quick, the rider of DECEIVING, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
LIGHTON (D Evans) was held up for clear running over the final 200m.
SPRING BLITZ (App R McMahon) lay in over the concluding stages and shifted in bumping GIGGLING BOY (D Johnston) leaving the 100m.
L Applewaite, stable representative for trainer D Badham, reported that FORADE lost its off hind plate during the event and had a slight laceration to its of hind leg.
Race 8: XXXX SPECIAL CONDITIONS H’CAP – 1300M.
1st – TENZERO 2nd – CRAIGLE WARRIOR 3rd – THAT’S PALEFACE 4th – ORIGIN HERO
PARADISE DANCER was declared a late scratching at 9.35am by order of steward’s acting on veterinary advice.
RUSSIAN BEAU (D Craven) was slow to begin.
DOUBLE RUM (L Timson) raced wide in the early stages.
CRAIGLEA WARRIOR (C Whiteley) raced in restricted room between the 700m and the 500m to the inside of QUALO STAR (App A Coome) which was laying in.
