SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Trainer A. Jones was found guilty to a charge of misconduct and fined the sum of $200.00 under AR175 (q) in that he shouted and gestured at the steward’s in an aggressive manner in the stewards room during a steward’s inquiry.
Steward’s adjourned an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed in the reason jockey G. Scimone left the course after being directed not to.
Race 1: OAKWOOD FARM QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1300M
1st – PEDRO’S OPINION 2nd – KAI ANNA 3rd – KUNNINKIK 4th – OUR BELLA STAR
PEDRO’S OPINION (D. Griffin) jumped in at the start making contact with KUNNINKIK (R. Thompson).
OUR BELLA STAR (J. Taylor) began awkwardly and shifted in at the start.
Shortly after the start OUR BELLA STAR (J. Taylor) commenced to over-race until near the 800m.
Leaving the 400m OUR BELLA STAR (J. Taylor) shifted out making contact with LANGLEY MISS (App A. Coome)
KUNNINKIK (R. Thompson) raced greenly in the home straight.
When questioned into the improved performance of PEDROS OPINION, as to its previous run, C. Smith stated the horse had began awkwardly that day almost dislodging its rider and lost ground. Steward’s noted his explanation.
Race 2: FRENCHVILLE SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M
1st – A SECRET KEPT 2nd – TRUE GENERAL 3rd – GO THE RED 4th – MAROCKET
MAROCKET (M. Bennett) and HUTCHIE (N. Day) made contact at the start when both horses shifted ground.
PEPPERMINT BAY (D. Evans) had a tendency to lay in shortly after the start and had to be steadied off the heels of ROCK THE NIGHT (App A. Coome) at the 950m and again at the 900m.
Following the event M Bennett was examined by the ambulance personnel and was cleared to ride after his right foot had been squashed in the barriers.
Race 3: FINE WINE PARTNERS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1100M
1st – MILORA MISS 2nd – SPRINGDINGO 3rd – RATHILLET 4th – SURROUNDER
ONLY A FLING (D. Evans) was slow to begin.
SURROUNDER (W. Morris) began awkwardly.
GORDON’S TIME (App L. Dillon) sifted out near the 750m momentarily inconveniencing SUBSEQUENCE (N. Evans).
RATHILLET (C. Whiteley) blundered near the 500m.
Race 4: JUDY DOYLE MEMORIAL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
1st – CATCHIT 2nd – FINN O’REILLY 3rd – DOUBLE GLOW 4th – LUNA LASS
CATCHIT was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to start.
SORROW (App E. Hooper) and RATHER FIERY (G. Scimone) were both slow to begin.
KEY ALTO (J. Taylor) jumped in at the start making contact with CATCHIT (B. El–Issa).
PURE DESTINY (App T Bannon) jumped out at the start making contact with SALLY’S GONE FERAL (R. Goltz).
SHAWNEEN (R. Thompson) jumped in at the start making contact with GOLD DART (J. Stephens).
Approaching the 1000m C’EST LE TEMPS (D. Evans) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room by CATCHIT (B. El-Issa) which was taken in by KEY ALTO (J. Taylor) which shifted in and away from CYCLONE GEORGE (R. Mason).
SHAWNEEN (R. Thompson) had to be steadied near the 1000m after becoming awkward on the heels of GOLD DART (J. Stephens).
C’EST LE TEMPS (D. Evans) lay out under pressure over the final 200m.
PURE DESTINY (App T. Bannon) had to be steadied near the 300m after becoming awkward on the heels of SHAWNEEN (R. Thompson) which shifted out under pressure.
SHOW YOUR COLOURS (C. Whiteley) hung out for the majority of the race.
KOKONINA (W. Morris) and RATHER FIERY (G. Scimone) both raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 5: PETER BOODLE’S QUALITY MEATS KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 2000M
1st – BEAU GLASS 2nd – LIGHTON 3rd – ROJO DIOS 4th – MIGHTY MITE
BLISS MISS (J. Felix) and ELLE’S FIRE (App L. Dillon) were both slow to begin.
IN JEOPARDY (D. Evans) jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.
Shortly after the start I’M FABULOUS (App T. Bannon) was tightened for room between MIGHY MITE (N. Day) and LIGHTON (K. Wharton) which shifted in.
IN JEOPARDY (D. Evans) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 6: NORMS CAR SALES ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB 100 CLUB CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M
1st – TAG 2nd – FLIPPER MACARTNEY 3rd – HARD WOOD FOREST 4th – KRYSTALATE
Stewards granted D. Jefferies, the trainer of DON HERNANDO, permission to replace senior rider B. Pengelly with apprentice L. Dillon due to the meeting being transferred from its original
date and the unsurety of available riders in a large field.
KRYSTALATE (R. Goltz) was slow to begin.
STAR OF TRINITY (App T. Bannon) shifted in near the 800m making contact with SHOWER UPON (R. Thompson).
SHOWER UPON (R. Thompson) shifted in near the 600m momentarily crowding KRYSTALATE (R. Goltz).
As G. Scimone, the rider of TATT’S PIANO had left the course. Steward’s adjourned an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed into the running and handling of that runner over the final 400m.
Following this event the track was upgraded to dead.
Race 7: XXXX GOLD ROCKHAMPTON NEWMARKET OPEN H’CAP – 1300M
1st – NEDIYM’S IMAGE 2nd – NOBLE GAZE 3rd – ROCK OF MUFASA 4th – TEMPLE JACK
SCHAHRIAR (D. Griffin) and UMAPRINCE (N. Day) were both slow to begin.
NOBLE GAZE (K. Wharton), TEMPLE JACK (App L. Dillon) and SNIPPETY SNIP (G. Scimone) all began awkwardly.
DANZIG WARRIOR (J. Stephens) over raced in the early and middle stages of the race and had to be steadied off the heels of ELMESSIAH (M. Bennett) near the 800m.
SEA ZULU (J. Felix) became awkward for a short distance when placed in restricted room when racing to the inside of STIRLING (App D. Carrigg) which was taken in by ELMESSIAH (M. Bennett) which inturn was taken in by NOBLE GAZE (K Wharton) which shifted in.
K.Wharton, the rider of NOBLE GAZE, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
A post race veterinary examination of KING HUNTER which seemingly raced disappointing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Apprentice A. Coome, the rider of NEDIYMS IMAGE, was fined the sum of $200.00 under the provision of AR137 (c) in that he made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
Race 8: JILLIAN ST GEORGE CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1400M
1st – JACKSON HILL 2nd – LLAMA LIP 3rd – CEARNAIGH 4th – NEWTOWN LAD
Prior to the running of this race, A. Jones, the trainer of BACKSTAGE GIRL, and jockey G. Scimone, were denied permission by steward’s to break their agreement and both were reminded of there professional conduct.
LLAM LIP (C. Whiteley) was slow to begin.
TIMBERS (App L. Dillon) over raced in the early stages of the race.
RUSSIAN BEAU (App T. Bannon) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason JON RON (J Stephens) appeared to clip heels and blunder near the 800m. After hearing all the evidence and viewing the official film it was established that RUSSIAN BEAU (App T. Bannon) had a tendency to lay in despite the efforts of its rider and near the 800m momentarily shifted in forcing JON RON in and as a result clipping the heels of THINK ZINK (C. Beets), RUSSIAN BEAU continued to lay for a short distance leaving the 800m. As stewards were of the opinion T. Bannon had made sufficient effort to keep RUSSIAN BEAU out, no further action was taken.
Race 9: REALWAY PROPERTY CONSULTANTS ROCKHAMPTON GOLD CUP OPEN H’CAP – 2000M
1st – ADAVALE HORNET 2nd – MILADY CLANG 3rd – DELICATA 4th – KING LATARMISS
ARENACEOUS (G. Scimone) began awkwardly and shortly after the start was tightened for room between BIG BEDOURIE (D. Evans) and TYCOON TED (App D. Carrigg) which shifted out.
ARENACEOUS (G. Scimone) shifted in near the 1700m making contact with the inside running rail.
TYCOON TED (App D. Carrigg) over raced in the early stages of the race.
Steward’s opened an inquiry into an incident near the 500m and after taking evidence from R. Thompson (MILADY CLANG) apprentice D. Carrigg (TYCOON TED), stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed as G. Scimone, the rider of ARENACEOUS had left the course.
