SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT ROCKHAMPTON, 5th APRIL 2011:

Race 7: XXXX Gold Class 4 Handicap

Jockey S. Watkin was reprimanded under A.R. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than five occasions prior to the 100 metres.

Race 1: Wilpeena Cattle Co Maiden Plate - 1600 metres
1st – PEBS MAGIC 2nd – SHY YASEY 3rd – HOT DUBAI 4th – INFAMOUS DANCER

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey J. Byrne to view the patrol film between the 1200 metres and the 800 metres with a view to lodging an objection against HOT DUBAI (D. Missen). After viewing the film, Jockey Byrne elected not to lodge a protest and correct weight was declared.

When Jockey G. Colless was unable to arrive on course by the prescribed time, due to transport difficulties, Jockey T. O’Hara was substituted as the rider of CHECKER CHAMP.

At the start KUDA ROCK (A. Spinks) was inconvenienced when tightened for room between SHY YASEY (B. Stewart), which shifted out slightly, and SPACED OUT (G. Lee).

FRESHWATER DELIGHT (D. Tanti) and SKYDECK (App. C. Pye) were slow to begin.

ITALIAN DANZA (S. Scriven) began awkwardly.

At approximately the 1300 metres INFAMOUS DANCER (J. Byrne) shifted in and bumped SKYDECK (App. C. Pye), which over-raced for a short distance. In the incident INFAMOUS DANCER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SKYDECK.

Near the 500 metres CHECKER CHAMP (App. T. O’Hara) hung in, despite the efforts of its rider. ITALIAN DANZA (S. Scriven) shifted out to avoid the heels of CHECKER CHAMP, and caused HOT DUBAI (D. Missen) to shift out and made heavy contact with MARIA ROSA (J. Stephens).

In the early part of the straight INFAMOUS DANCER (J. Byrne) was held up for clear running.

CHECKER CHAMP (T. O’Hara), MARIA ROSA and HOT DUBAI (D. Missen) raced wide throughout.

When questioned about the apparent improved performance of PEBS MAGIC (A. Coome), trainer R. Vale stated that he had instructed Jockey Coome to allow the horse to become balanced and take up a position midfield where comfortable. Mr Vale said that due to the lack of early pace the horse raced in a more forward position than had been expected. He added that today’s event was over a more suitable distance than had been the case at its most recent starts, which were on rain-affected and dirt tracks. Mr Vale said further that the horse had worked well leading up to today’s event and had been supported by the stable.

Race 2: Pryde’s Easifeeds Weight For Age - 1200 metres
1st – WRITER 2nd – DANWANA 3rd – POLROSSA 4th – SNAGAPOT

POLROSSA (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

WHARTON WILLIE (J. Stephens) pulled fiercely when leading.

From the 500 metres until near the 350 metres POLROSSA had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Race 3: GJ Gardiner Homes Class 1 Plate - 1050 metres
1st – LEFT BEHIND 2nd – PURO SANGUE 3rd – HUSSONATOR 4th – SPELLO

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Jockey D. Missen for his dual engagement for SPELLO and HUSSINATOR. Jockey A. Spinks was substituted as the rider of SPELLO.

Acting on a confirmed phone call from trainer B. Bennett, stewards declared TIDY TRIM a late scratching at 12.17 p.m.

Trainer A. Jenkinson advised Stewards that FIELDS OF PLENTY would be ridden hands and heels and the whip used as a last resort as the gelding seemed to resent the use of the whip.

INNOCENT JACK (R. Mules) proved difficult to load into the barriers. A warning was placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

WINDSONG (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.

HUSSONATOR (D. Missen) and LEFT BEHIND (A. Coome) bumped on jumping.

INNOCENT JACK (R. Mules) and SAVANNAH DAWN (App.T. O’Hara) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 650 metres MAID OF SEVENS (App. C. Pye), which was racing in restricted room, shifted in and bumped the inside running rail.

At approximately the 400 metres AT SUNDOWN (B. Stewart), which was laying in, had to be steadied from the heels of SPELLO (A. Spinks), which shifted out slightly.

At about the 200 metres MAID OF SEVENS (App. C. Pye) was steadied to avoid the heels of HUSSONATOR (D. Missen), which shifted out when not fully clear. Jockey D. Missen will be spoken to regarding the incident.

Over the concluding stages PURO SANGUE (J. Stanley) shifted in under pressure.

FIELDS OF PLENTY (S. Watkin) raced wide throughout.

For a short distance near the 900 metres SPURTASTIC (J. Byrne) over-raced.

VANCOUVER GOLD (G. Lee) raced wide throughout.

Race 5: D Gray’s Grader and Loader QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – COWBOY TOWN 2nd – ZIPPITY JET 3rd – MUNDI GULLY 4th – QUEEN OF HAPPINESS

On being placed in the barrier, QUEEN OF HAPPINESS got its hind leg caught on the barrier partition. A veterinary inspection cleared the filly to start.

DALIOSENN (App. S. McCullum) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start ZIPPITY JET (J. Byrne) was restrained to take up a position close to the inside running rail.

App. C. Pye pleaded guilty to a charge of carelessness under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 900 metres she permitted IWANTIWANT to shift in when insufficiently clear of FEROCITY BLUE (A. Spinks), which was checked and lost its rightful running. Apprentice Pye had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight on Tuesday, 12th April 2011, up to and including 19th April 2011, a period covering 2 meetings.
As a result of this incident, FEROCITY BLUE when restrained shifted out wide around the turn and took MADDIE YO YO (I. Coombes) and JOE KWILA (G. Lee) wider on the track.

App. S. McCullum pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that leaving the 900 metres he used insufficient effort to prevent DALIOSENN from shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of LAYLA (App. T. O’Hara), which was checked and lost its position in the field. App. McCullum had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight on Sunday, 9th April 2011, up to and including 21st April 2011, a period covering 2 meetings.

ZIPPITY JET had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight until near the 400 metres.

In the early and middle stages QUEEN OF HAPPINESS (J. Stanley) raced wide.

At about the 900 metres FUZZALAMA (L. Dillon) was steadied from the heels of CHESTER’S EXPRESS (B. Stewart).

Leaving the 900 metres TICKLE THE KITTY (D. Tanti) was steadied to avoid the heels of UNPAID (D. Missen).

At about the 700 metres SIR VAN TEES (App. C. Pye) improved up onto the heels of CHARMINGLY (App. S. McCullum) and was restrained.

From the 600 metres to the 450 metres MARICOPA (A. Coome) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

CHESTER’S EXPRESS (B. Stewart) raced wide throughout.

On pulling up, Jockey G. Lee was dislodged from ZIGGY ZARIZ. Jockey Lee required medical attention and was treated by the Ambulance officers.
