SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Rockhampton, 18th August 2011:
Trainer's representative G. Green advised stewards that TAKOTNA had been examined by the stable veterinarian and was found to have sustained a fractured near fore sesamoid.
Rockhampton, 8th September 2011:
Trainer S. Finn advised stewards that CHECKER CHAMP had pulled up well following its run however will be sent for a short freshen-up.
Trainer M. Attard advised stewards that BJORN WARRIOR had jarred up slightly following its run and he had the gelding treated by a chiropractor and had also sought corrective shoeing.
Race 1: Helter Skelter Class 6 Plate - 1500 metres
1st BAWAARDI 2nd DUAL ECHELON 3rd EWEY BAY 4th - DASHING DOLL
IGOTITFROMMYMUMMA was a late scratching, at 11.53 a.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was exhibiting signs of colic and required treatment. Trainer Mr T. Cook submitted a veterinary report in relation to the scratching of IGOTITFROMMYMUMMA.
Stewards questioned trainer Mr T. Cook regarding the scratching of CHINRUB. Mr Cook stated that the horse had sustained an injury to its off hind leg. A veterinary report was presented confirming the injury.
There were no racing incidents.
Race 2: The Morning Bulletin Open Handicap- 970 metres
1st OTTO’S DELIGHT 2nd BLACK MORGAN 3rd ASPIRAN 4th - MYSTIC MOUNTAIN
MYSTIC MOUNTAIN, which had competed at Twin Hills on 23rd and 24th September, underwent a veterinary examination prior to the race and was cleared to take its place in the field.
Stewards sought an explanation from trainer Mr T. Cook as to the nomination, acceptance and subsequent scratching of HUSS. Mr Cook stated that it had been his intention to start HUSS in today's event; however the horse's owner had decided to have HUSS compete in what they deemed to be a more suitable race at this stage of the gelding's preparation in Brisbane on Saturday. Stewards noted the explanation and would seek confirmation of these details with RISA.
Trainer G. Taylor was fined $100 for failing to notify a change in the approved gear for OTTO'S DELIGHT, namely, the removal of the heart bar plates.
BLACK MORGAN (App. C. Pye) was slow to begin and lost ground.
LEFT BEHIND (D. Tanti) raced 3 wide throughout.
On returning to scale Jockey A. Pattillo reported that ASPIRAN was inclined to lay out in the straight.
Jockey D. Tanti reported that LEFT BEHIND had failed to stretch out and was inclined to lay in throughout the event. Jockey Tanti was of the opinion that LEFT BEHIND may not have appreciated firm track surface.
Race 3: Sea FM Class 1 Plate - 1300 metres
1st FOUAREE 2nd TREPAN 3rd IRIANA STYLE 4th - GET DITTY WITH IT
IRIANA STYLE (C. Whiteley) was slow to begin.
TREPAN (App. J. Kropp) and PLAZSNI (J. Stephens) bumped on jumping.
In the middle stages IRIANA STYLE hung out and lost ground.
MALEATON (App. C. Pye) raced wide throughout.
TREPAN (App. J. Kropp) lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 4: Family Fun Day QTIS Three Years Old Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st BJORN WARRIOR 2nd MISTER TIPS 3rd HOT SHOT SISTER 4th - SHEZA FALVELON
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainers J. Rundle and N. Coyne for the late declaration of App. C. Pye as the rider of ALEXABAR and App. J. Kropp as the rider of NAN BELL respectively.
CRYSTELL'S PIPER (C. Whiteley) and MINARDI MAGIC (T. O'Hara) were slow to begin.
I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW (App. A. Butler) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BJORN WARRIOR (D. Tanti) and lost ground.
Apprentice A. Taylor informed stewards that she had been instructed to ride MISTER TIPS back in the field from its wide barrier, and endeavour to obtain a position closer to the running rail.
Leaving the 500 metres ROSE OF MAYHEM (S. Sheargold) was inclined to lay in and near the 300 metres shifted out abruptly, made contact with MISTER TIPS (App. A. Taylor), which was taken out onto NAN BELL (App. J. Kropp), which in turn was taken out onto ALEXABAR (App. C. Pye), which was racing ungenerously, shifted out and hampered I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW (App. A. Butler). Trainer L. Challacombe will be interviewed regarding the post-race condition of ROSE OF MAYHEM and his intentions regarding the future racing program of the filly.
ROSE OF MAYHEM (S. Sheargold), ALEXABAR (App. C. Pye) and SHEZA FALVELON (A. Coome) raced wide for the majority of the event. .
Race 5: XXXX Gold Maiden Plate - 1400 metres
1st TOY JET 2nd OXFORD TOWN 3rd THE SKATER 4th - DELARGO SCENE
When the start was effected SAVVY CHOICE (C. Whiteley) stood flat-footed and lost ground.
MY LIONESS (S. Sheargold) was slow to begin.
On jumping MISS VALHALLA (M. Usher) was tightened for room between BANDOLIER (App. C. Pye) and THE SKATER (A. Coome).
Near the 1100 metres SHADOW THROWER (App. A. Butler) shifted in and inconvenienced DARHILT (A. Pattillo), and then near the 800 metres commenced to hang out and raced wide for the remainder of the event. When questioned, Apprentice Butler stated that the gelding seemed to be field shy and he was of the opinion that the addition of blinkers had disadvantaged the gelding's performance. Apprentice Butler added that he had advised connections to remove the blinkers from the gelding's approved gear for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of SHADOW THROWER did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
Leaving the 300 metres BOTH (App. A. Taylor) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.
Approaching the winning post, BOTH shifted out, clipped the heels of DELAGO SCENE (App. J. Kropp) and blundered.
Jockey C. Whiteley reported that he had placed SAVVY CHOICE under pressure throughout the event, however the gelding failed to respond to his riding at any stage. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the condition of SAVVY CHOICE.
Race 6: CQ Photobooths Class 3 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st BEEN BROKE BEFORE 2nd MARICOPA 3rd SEQUIZ 4th - SHELDON
Stewards permitted BEEN BROKE BEFORE (D. Missen) to race with winkers off, and a public announcement was made to that effect. Stewards will seek further information from RISA in regard to the approved gear for BEEN BROKE BEFORE.
KICKDAHABIT (S. Sheargold) began awkwardly and blundered.
At the start TUSCAN IMAGE (App. A. Taylor) and SHELDON (A. Pattillo) made contact.
Shortly after the start SHELDON (A. Pattillo) raced extremely ungenerously and near the 1400 metres shifted in and was steadied from the heels of BEEN BROKE BEFORE (D. Missen).
For the majority of the straight SHELDON (A. Pattillo) laid in.
Jockey D. Tanti, the rider of MARICOPA, reported that for a short distance after the start he lost the use of his offside iron.
When questioned as to the performance of DELAGO RAIDER, Jockey A. Coome stated that the gelding had been able to take up its customary forward position and though the gelding travelled well throughout, it did not quicken as expected and in his opinion had raced flat. Trainer S. Kendrick reported that the gelding will be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 7: Callaghan Park Class 2 Handicap- 1050 metres
1st LIGHTFEET LADY 2nd FEUER DRACHE 3rd HIDDEN REWARDS 4th - COCKTAIL ROSE
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer C. Tasker for the late declaration of App. A. Butler as the rider of EYE SEEN.
HOMBRE WARRIOR, which was resuming after 12 months spell, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.
LOUISA'S DREAM (S. Sheargold) was a little slow to begin.
SAVANNAH DAWN (App. J. Kropp) began awkwardly.
From the 500 metres until near the 400 metres FEUER DRACHE (App. A. Taylor) had difficulty obtaining clear running and was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
SAVANNAH DAWN (App. J. Kropp) and LONG ROAD TO GLORY (App. C. Pye) raced wide throughout.
