Supplementary Report
From Rockhampton meeting, 6.9.12 – Race 4
Stewards today reconvened and inquiry from the above meeting regard Jockey L Dillon’s riding out of ROBERT’S GIFT over the concluding stages. Evidence was taken from trainer of that horse, Mr P. Camilleri and further evidence from Jockey L. Dillon. Mr Camilleri stated that he was satisfied with jockey Dillon’s riding out of Robert’s Gift. It was established that Robert’s Gift had tired over the concluding stages, and stewards were of the opinion that the gelding had comfortably held its margin to the winning line, however jockey Dillon was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish of the race.

Race 4: Jockey L. Dillon, rider of Ya Reckon was reminded of his obligations regarding use of the whip and what may be deemed excessive.
Race 5: Stewards sought an explanation regarding the performance of Doreboy from trainer C. Dore. Mrs Dore reported the gelding had pulled up well following the race however blood tests would be obtained and the gelding sent for a spell.

Race 1: XXXX Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st Mist In The Morn 2nd Lady Pania 3rd Falls Creek 4th- Sheza Hero
LADY PANIA (C. Pye), which was standing awkwardly was slow to begin.
SHEZA HERO (A. Coome) jumped away awkwardly.
J. Stanley reported that FALLS CREEK slipped on jumping away.
MIST IN THE MORN bled following the event. As this was the second time the horse has bled, MIST IN THE MORN would now incur a lifetime bar from racing.
Race 2: XXXX Summer Bright Class 6 Plate - 1300 metres
1st Princely 2nd Marmillion 3rd Il Cardinale 4th- Canny Smith
Jockey C. Whiteley reported that IL CARDINALE had lost its footing behind on jumping away.
DIAMOND ACE (D. McWhinney) began awkwardly and raced fiercely in the early stages.
From the 400m PRINCELY (C. Pye) was held up and unable to improve due to insufficient racing room, and near the 200m, DIAMOND ACE, which was tiring, rolled in slightly, resulting in PRINCELY having to be steadied and then obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
Race 3: Rockhampton Jockey Club Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap- 1050 metres
1st– Miss Jackson 2nd – Townie 3rd Cyril’s Dragon 4th- Precious Lily
Apprentice B. Floyd was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance on LADY OAKS (2.5kg of 3kg claim) In considering penalty, stewards took into account that this was apprentice Floyd’s first breach of this rule.
SAVANNAH WAY (J. Stephens) jumped away awkwardly.
TOWNIE (C. McIver) and PRECIOUS LILLY (J. Stanley) were slow to begin.
LADY OAKS (B. Floyd) raced greenly in the straight.
WICCA SMILE (N. Patchett) raced wide throughout.
Stewards sought an explanation regarding the performance of TOWNIE. Jockey McIver stated he was issued with no specific instructions however had anticipated being in a forward, handy position. After being slow to begin, he was able to place the mare midfield. He added that TOWNIE, which was resuming from a spell today, would derive a fitness benefit from the race.
Apprentice B. Floyd, rider of LADY OAKS, was reminded of her obligations regarding use of the whip when out of contention.
A post race veterinary examination WICCA SMILE revealed the mare to be a suspected roarer. Stewards will seek follow-up veterinary reports on WICCA SMILE.
Race 4: XXXX Bitter Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap- 1050 metres
1st Nan Bell 2nd Phantom Beau 3rd Mister Louis 4th – Ricordo
As S. McGovern was currently under suspension, L. Dillon was substituted as the rider of STRATOLOGY.
GOTTAGET (C. Pye) was slow to begin.
TRIPLE CENTURY bounded in the air and began awkwardly, and then shifted in and made contact with TSIGANE’S LAD (D. McWhinney), which lost some ground.
MISTER LOUIS (A. Coome) and PHANTOM BEAU (J. Stephens) made contact on jumping away.
PIED PIPER (J. Stephens), REDOUTE’S POWER (D. Jung) and RICORDO (A. Kitson) raced wide throughout.
REDOUTE’S POWER shifted ground in the straight, and near the 50m bumped PIED PIPER.
Race 5: Hahn Super Dry 3.5 Class 1 Handicap- 970 metres
1st Strategic Weapon 2nd Secret Scene 3rd Speeding Dragon 4th- Testya Time
Correct weight was slightly delayed to allow jockey C. McIver, rider of the 4th placegetter, TESTYA TIME, to view the stewards’ patrol video with a view to lodging an objection against SPEEDING DRAGON being declared the third placing getter. After viewing the video, jockey C. McIver declined to proceed.
STRATEGIC WEAPON (A. Coome) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with TESTYA TIME (C. McIver).
Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred the 800m. Apprentice D. Jung, in the presence of his host master, Mr C. Smith, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 800m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FOR LOVE ALONE (J. Stephens), which was taken in onto TESTYA TIME, which lost its rightful running. Apprentice Jung’s licence to ride in races was suspended from midnight, Saturday, 15 September, and up to and including 22 September, 2012 (2 CQ meetings)
Near the 750m, TESTYA TIME, when being steadied, has overreacted and made contact with the hind quarters of FOR LOVE ALONE and lost ground.
C. McIver, rider of TESTYA TIME, dropped his whip near the 400m.
Stewards questioned Apprentice D. Jung over his riding out of SPEEDING DRAGON close to the finish line. Trainer C. Smith was satisfied with App Jung’s actions. Stewards were of the opinion that his actions had not cost the horse its placing and reminded him of his obligation to ride his mounts right out to the finish line.
Race 6: Become a member of the RJC Class 2 Handicap- 1300 metres
1st Perfect Hussey 2nd La Lune De Miel 3rd Toy With Me 4th- Deb’s Hope
KARZING (C. Pye) was slow to begin.
Leaving the 600m, DOUBLE YOUR BAG (J. Stephens) was held up and unable to obtain clear running until near the 300.
Near the 400m, PERFECT HUSSEY (N. Patchett) rolled in and hampered WAITING ROOM (A. Kitson).
WESTERN YORK (T. Bannon) raced wide for the majority of the race.
STAY THE NIGHT (C. McIver) raced wide throughout.
