Trainer D. Schultz reported that BLAZE TO FORTUNE will be freshened up for 3 or 4 weeks prior to its return to training.

Late Riding Changes

When Jockey A. Pattillo was ill and Jockey J. P. Stanley failed to obtain a stay of proceedings and was therefore ineligible to fulfil his engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Pattillo was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.

Race 1: Prydes Easifeeds F&M Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
1st PINANZA 2nd CLAIR DU MONDE 3rd FANTASTIC EIGHT 4th - BACK TO WHARTON

CLAIR DU MONDE (J. Stephens) was difficult to load into the barriers.

At the start MOXIE DOLL (C. Pye) and PINANZA (D. Evans) made contact.

FANTASTIC EIGHT (D. Hayes) began awkwardly.

App. A. Kitson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 900 metres she permitted AZAHARA to shift in when insufficiently clear of CLAIR DU MONDE (J. Stephens), which was forced to race in restricted room and was tightened onto the hindquarters of SPLASH OF CLASS (D. Missen), which lost its rightful running. Apprentice Kitson’s licence to ride in races was suspended from midnight on Saturday 11th May, up to and including midnight on 18th May 2013 (2 CQ race meetings)

Near the 400 metres PINANZA (D. Evans) shifted out and bumped MOXIE DOLL (C. Pye).

RHODESIAN LASSY (D. Simmons) raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormalities.

On returning to scale Jockey B. Stewart reported that BACK TO WHARTON may not have appreciated the track surface. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed that BACK TO WHARTON was displaying a slow post-race recovery rate.

Race 2: Kennas Chartered Accountants CG&E Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
1st ALOTTA MOJO 2nd I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW 3rd BAGNACE 4th - CEDARSTAR

I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW (D. Hayse) and STAR MATERIAL (C. Whiteley) were slow to begin.

At the start HIDDEN DUCK (App. A. Taylor) shifted out and made contact with DUAN THEO (A. Coome).

Near the 400 metres OH GOLLY (C. Pye) shifted out and away from BAGNACE (App. S. McGovern) and bumped JOSIE'S WELL (N. Patchett).

Over the concluding stages OH GOLLY (C. Pye) shifted ground.

Race 3: Central Maintenance & Welding BM 79 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st TEN SECONDS 2nd FALVADORE 3rd CARRY THE CLUBS 4th - DIRECT DEBIT

After leaving the enclosure, Jockey A. Coome was dislodged from HODGIE AND MO. On being recaptured and after arriving at the barriers HODGIE AND MO was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

HODGIE AND MO (A. Coome) shifted in at the start, resulting in PEGUNNY ROY (C. Whiteley) and CARRY THE CLUBS (App. S. McCullum) being tightened for room between HODGIE AND MO and DIRECT DEBIT (D. Hayse).

YOU DONE IT AGAIN (N. Patchett) and FALVADORE (D. Evans) raced wide throughout.

PEGUNNY ROY (C. Whiteley) bled during running. As this was the first time the gelding had bled, PEGUNNY ROY will be barred from racing for 3 months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward, in accordance with A.R. 53A.

Trainer C Garland reported that YOU DONE IT AGAIN was exhibiting signs of being in season, which may have contributed to its performance.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey A. Coome as to the performance of HODGIE AND MO. Jockey Coome stated he that had been instructed to take up a handy position, however the gelding failed to show its customary speed in the early stages and as he did not want to be caught wide, he elected to obtain cover. Jockey Coome said that gelding travelled fairly throughout the event, but when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight HODGIE AND MO responded only fairly and was disappointing. Jockey Coome added that the gelding had changed stride on a number of occasions and did not feel comfortable on pulling up. A post-race swab sample was taken from HODGIE AND MO. Stewards will seek a report from Trainer J. O’Sing in the coming days.

Race 4: Cranston Pies BM 65 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st DESPERATE WOMAN 2nd LIGHT RIO 3rd EURONGILLY 4th - KING RAY

Prior to the race trainer J. Brown advised stewards that Jockey O'Hara would be instructed to ride STREETFIRE more forward if circumstances permitted. Public announcements were made to that effect and the gelding was ridden accordingly, when ridden forward to lead.

KING RAY (A. Coome) reared in the barriers prior to the start.

NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC (D. Evans) was slow to begin.

Jockey C. Whiteley reported that BALBOA was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

Near the 400 metres EURONGILLY (D. Simmons) shifted in and placed pressure on DORF RILEY (App. A. Kitson), which was taken in and had to be steadied from the heels of KING RAY (A. Coome). Jockey Simmons was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. A. Kitson in regard to the performance of DORF RILEY. App. Kitson stated that the gelding travelled fairly throughout the event, however after suffering some interference near the 400 metres had become unbalanced and with the impost of 62.5 kg had failed to regain momentum. A post-race veterinary examination of DORF RILEY did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Best Doors QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1050 metres
1st ISIS DEVIL 2nd CHEAPSKATER 3rd MAXIMUM COMMAND 4th - BUDDY ROCKS

Trainer J. Manzelmann advised stewards that he will instruct Jockey T. Bannon to ride ROCKETMOUNTAINHIGH, which had drawn wide, to ride the filly back in the field with cover. Public announcements were made to that effect and the filly was ridden accordingly.

MURRAMARANG (App. K. Gates) was slow to begin.

LITTLE VICTORIES (D. Simmons) was a little slow to begin, shifted in and was steadied from the heels of SARSGHI (A. Coome).

Near the 700 metres ROCKETMOUNTAINHIGH (T. Bannon) rolled in, resulting in SIX OF HEARTS (S. Sheargold) having to be eased.

Race 6: Charlies Pest Control Class 1 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st APACHE GULF 2nd WOODEN EYE JOE 3rd FRENCH GARRISON 4th - MISS JACKSON

Prior to the race trainer D. Stafford reported that BLACK POINT had been treated for liver and kidney complaints following its previous run.

ROCK MODE (App. S. McCullum) was slow to begin.

MISS JACKSON (A. Coome) began awkwardly and shifted in onto APACHE GULF (D. Hayse).

FUNKY FEET (App. A. Kitson) and AL MUHANAD (M. Usher) were a little slow to begin.

Jockey D. Evans reported that STREET CIRCUIT was inclined to lay out over the concluding stages and that the saddle on the gelding had shifted, placing him at some disadvantage.

Race 7: Peter Boodle’s Quality Meats Class 3 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st BALLROOM DANCE 2nd BAGABOB 3rd CLICK UP 4th - PRECIOUS LILLY

As Jockey L. Dillon had been stood down, Jockey C. Pye was substituted as the rider of CONSTANT CRAVING.

BOSE (T. O'Hara) shifted out at the start and made contact with BALLROOM DANCE (B. Stewart).

PRECIOUS LILLY (App. A. Kitson) and FOUAREE (S. Sheargold) were slow to begin.

DRUMKIT (T. Bannon) shifted out at the start, taking HEAD HIGH (D. Evans) outwards.

CLICK UP (A. Coome) and SOCIETY LASS (D. Hayse) raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey D. Missen for the performance of TRUSTY GREY. Jockey Missen stated that he was disappointed with the performance as the gelding took up a favourable position and travelled well throughout, but when placed under pressure failed to respond and he was of the opinion that, given that this was the horse's second start from a spell and the time lapse between runs, TRUSTY GREY would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed that it was showing a poor post-race recovery rate
