1st CRACOW 2nd I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW 3rd MOXIE DOLL 4th - DUAN THEO
After being placed in the barriers CHAMPAGNE WILLIE (L. Dillon) lunged forward and broke through the barriers, then went through the inside running rail. On being re-captured, the gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and, acting on his advice that CHAMPAGNE WILLIE was unfit to take its place in the field, stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2.35 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:
8¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, CRACOW
6¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, CRACOW
8¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW
11¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, MOXIE DOLL

Near the 200 metres CRACOW (J. P. Stanley) laid in under pressure and made contact with PICAPUB (T. O'Hara).
For the majority of the event MOXIE DOLL (App. C. Schmidt) raced wide.

1st PINANZA 2nd PRECIOUS LILLY 3rd BOLD DICTATOR 4th - RED DORF
Shortly after the start PINANZA (D. Evans), which had been slow to begin, was further hampered when tightened for room between BOLD DICTATOR (App. A. Taylor) and HEAD HIGH (App. C. Schmidt).
RED SAVANNAH (C. Whiteley) was slow into stride and then raced wide throughout.
Near the 200 metres PRECIOUS LILLY (App. A. Kitson) shifted out and made contact with RED DORF (T. O'Hara), which was taken out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of BOLD DICTATOR (App. A. Taylor), resulting in BOLD DICTATOR shifting in and further hampering RED DORF and PRECIOUS LILLY. App. Kitson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Stewards sought an explanation from App. C. Schmidt for the seemingly poor performance of HEAD HIGH. App. Schmidt stated that she was not able to obtain a more forward position, in accordance with her instructions, and that HEAD HIGH had failed to travel comfortably throughout the event. App. Schmidt was of the opinion that the gelding had not been suited by the quick backup from racing on Saturday. A post-race veterinary examination of HEAD HIGH did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 6: XXXX Splintex Sprint BM 75 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st TEN SECONDS 2nd PEGUNNY WARRIOR 3rd BALLROOM DANCE 4th - BONNY THE VIPER
The start was delayed when it was observed that the bit on FALVADORE (D. Evans) required adjustment.
FLINDERS CITY (D. Simmons) began awkwardly and lost ground, then raced ungenerously and pulled fiercely in the early stages.
For the majority of the event BALLROOM DANCE (App. C. Schmidt) raced three wide.
Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey D. Evans for the performance of FALVADORE. Jockey Evans was of the opinion that the gelding was not suited by today's slow track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of FALVADORE did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

1st COVERT CHARMOUR 2nd MAXIMUM COMMAND 3rd ISIS DEVIL 4th - WRITTEN ELEISON

Near the 900 metres WRITTEN ELEISON (A. Coome) shifted in when not completely clear of HOODED DESTINY (App. A. Kitson), which had to be steadied and commenced to race keenly. Jockey Coome was reprimanded for shifting ground when not completely clear.
In the middle stages MAXIMUM COMMAND (N. Patchett) improved onto the heels of FLINDERS SEA (App. C. Schmidt) and had to be eased.
Stewards sought an explanation from App. C. Schmidt in relation to the performance of FLINDERS SEA. App. Schmidt stated that she was disappointed with the performance. App. Schmidt added that FLINDERS SEA today displayed different mannerisms than had been evident on the other occasions on which she had ridden the gelding, and in her opinion raced flat today. App. Schmidt said that the travel involved to attend the race meeting in recent days may have been detrimental to the gelding's chances. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
