SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Mackay Thursday 4th July 2013

Race 5: Caneland Central Class 1 Handicap - 1050 metres

Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that BEDROCK BETTY, which finished at the rear of the field, will be barred from competing in TAB events until the mare establishes some form in non-TAB events.

GENERAL:

App. A. Butler was fined $100 failing to provide a letter of authority from his Master.

Race 1: Centre State Signs QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1100 metres

ZAZALURI was presented to the mounting enclosure to race in steel shoes. Stewards ordered the removal of these shoes and permitted the gelding to race bare footed. Public announcements were made accordingly. Trainer J. Pointon was fined $200 under A.R.140A for presenting ZAZALURI (D. Hayse) with other then its approved gear, namely steel shoes.

CHEVAL (C. Pye), ZAZALURI (D. Hayse) and MT ZIGGARO (App. K. Witten) were slow to begin.

Jockey C. Pye was reprimanded for use of her whip on CHEVAL when the gelding was out of contention.

On returning to scale L. Dillon, the rider of VAST ELEMENT, reported that he had sustained an injury to his right knee on jumping. L Dillon was examined by the Ambulance Officers and on their advice was stood down from his remaining engagements. Substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day summary.

Race 2: Bacardi Lion Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres

The start of this race was delayed when AZAHARA (App. A. Kitson) broke through the barriers and cantered for some distance. The mare was returned to the barriers where it was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

SOMEPLACE (C. Pye) and UNFORTUNATE ONE (App. K. Witten) were slow to begin.

Near the 950 metres THIRD MISS (App. R. Johnston-Bell) shifted in and bumped RE ECHO (J Stephens).

In the early part of the straight RE ECHO was inclined to lay in.

Race 3: SMW Group Open Handicap - 1050 metres

Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 for the late notification of A.Coome as the rider of PRINCE MONASHEE.

PRINCE MONASHEE began awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 900 metres PRINCE MONASHEE shifted in, placing CRAIGLEA CONVICT (D Hayes) in restricted room, resulting in that gelding having to be steadied. A. Coome was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 4: Crow Racing Class 2 Handicap - 1100 metres

Apprentice A. Butler was to be overweight, R. Faehr was substituted as the rider of WAASIES SHADOW. App. Butler was fined $100.

B. Stewart was to be overweight, N. Patchett was substituted as the rider of EDGE OF LOVE. B. Stewart was fined $100.

WAASIES SHADOW (R. Faehr) was kicked by another runner behind the barriers. The gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

At the start MARTY (J. Stephens) shifted out and made heavy contact with MANCHEBO (T. O’Hara).

Race 5: Rockhampton & Chevron Steam Laundry Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres

ADALFE was a late scratching, at 2.40 p.m. due to transportation difficulties.

MACHO CAT (D. Hayse) was slow to begin.

BERRYBEAR (App. A. Butler) bounded in the air at the start and lost ground.

At the 800 metres SILENT CHARADES (T. O'Hara) shifted in and tightened the running of LADY BULLMORE (App. A. Taylor), which had to be steadied, and then shifted out, forcing STARDUST WARRIOR (R. Faehr) wider on the track. A short distance later BERRYBEAR improved to the inside of STARDUST WARRIOR and had to be steadied. T.O’Hara was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Near the 650m SIDE EFFECT (C.Pye) improved onto the heels of LADY BULLMORE and had to be steadied.

Near the 150 metres SIDE EFFECT was disappointed for a run between LADY BULLMORE and STARDUST WARRIOR, both of which shifted ground.

SOUTHSIDE (N. Patchett) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from the 100 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.

Near the finishing line STARDUST WARRIOR shifted in, bumped RIDE LIKE THE WIND (J. P. Stanley) and became unbalanced. In this incident R. Faehr's right elbow accidentally made contact with the body of J. Stanley.

Race 6: Rockhampton Business Machines Class 3 Plate - 1600 metres

Prior to race 5 connections of RED DORF (B. Stewart) advised stewards that the gelding would be ridden back in the field today, if circumstances permitted, contrary to its usual racing pattern. Announcements were made to that effect and RED DORF was ridden accordingly.

HOT SHOT SISTER (C. Pye) began awkwardly.

At the start FOUAREE (D. Hayse) shifted out and bumped FICKLE BUSINESS (App. S. McGovern).

In the early and middle stages HOT SHOT SISTER pulled hard.

A post-race veterinary examination of ELECTRONIC BEE revealed that the gelding had pulled up sore in the off foreleg. Trainer R. Simpson was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding's next start.

Race 7: XXXX Class 6 Plate - 1200 metres

DIAMOND ACE (App. K. Witten) was slow to begin.
