SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT- Thangool 18th January, 2014.
Trainer M Hassam reported that PRIVATE CHAT had pulled up fine without any abnormality becoming apparent. Stewards were further advised that the gelding would be freshened up prior to next race start.
Race 1: Capricornia Yearling Sales & Races 10-13 April QTIS 2YO Handicap - 1050 metres
1st Our Neddy Boy 2nd Crystal Missile 3rd Boomtown Boy 4th- Wicked Lover
OUR NEDDY Boy (T. O'Hara) was slow to begin.
LALITA (J. Stephens) and NAVAL BELLE (D. Simmons) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 700m, NAVAL BELLE, when racing greenly, over raced, and LALITA, which was racing greenly to its outside, rolled in, causing NAVAL BELLE to be steadied.
A. Coome reported CRYSTAL MISSILE was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 200m.
L. Dillon, rider of PRETTY KITTY, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in as the 5th place getter.
A post race veterinary examination PRETTY KITTY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 2: Summer Bright Open Handicap- 1100 metres
1st Speeding Dragon 2nd Ballroom Dance 3rd Passivity 4th- Christmas Island
BALLROOM DANCE (D. Evans) began awkwardly and became unbalanced.
TEN SECONDS (B. Stewart) appeared to slip at the start and was then tightened between SPEEDING DRAGON (M. McGillivray) and MOSSANAY (M. O'Brien), both of which shifted ground.
BALLROOM DANCE had difficulty obtaining clear running from near the 350m to the 200m.
BLAZE TO FORTUNE (G. Steele) raced wide throughout.
B Stewart, rider of TEN SECONDS, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in as the 5th placegetter.
Following this event, C. Pye was examined by the doctor and stood down from her remaining engagements. A medical clearance will be required to be produced prior to her resuming race riding.
Race 3: Racing February 6th @ Callaghan Park BM 70 Handicap- 1100 metres
1st Maroon Bells 2nd Bonny The Viper 3rd Sindibad 4th- Bagger Bones
BAGGER BONES (D. Evans) struck the rail in the enclosure, and on arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.
CONJUGAL RIGHTS (M. O'Brien) and SINDIBAD (A. Coome) bumped on jumping away.
STREET SINGER (B. Appo) slow to begin.
Near the 600m, BAGGER BONES (D. Evans) was eased when STREET SINGER rolled in slightly.
BONNY THE VIPER (J. Stephens) hung out in the middle stages.
Passing the 300m, SINDIBAD was held up on the heels of BONNY THE VIPER for a short distance.
STREET SINGER and BAGGER BONES raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Raffle $10, 000 Sale Voucher Class 6 Plate- 1300 metres
1st Satch 2nd Lucky Us 3rd Blackjack 4th- Cheatin’ Charlie
When GUILIETTA (J. Orman) reared, the mare was removed from the barriers. The bridle was replaced and after undergoing a veterinary inspection the mare was cleared to start.
GUILIETTA (J. Orman) bumped with LUCKY US (S. Egan) on jumping away.
DENWOOD (B. Stewart) appeared to lose its footing at the start and lost ground.
LOGICAL OUTCOME (C. Whiteley) jumped inwards onto CHEATIN’ CHARLIE (A. Kitson) and was further hampered by KISS THE GROOM (T. O'Hara), which jumped inwards.
GUILIETTA (J. Orman) over raced in the early and middle stages of the race.
Stewards questioned apprentice S. Egan with regard to the instructions and tactics employed on LUCKY US. Apprentice Egan stated that due to the strong wind his only instruction was to obtain cover, and after beginning fairly he elected to obtain a position towards the rear of the field in an endeavour not to be caught wide. He further stated however that he got further back than expected. He added that at its previous start from the inside barrier it was able to obtain a position more forward easily with cover.
Apprentice S. Egan, rider of LUCKY US, was reprimanded for use of his whip on 2 occasions more than permissible in a forward manner prior to the 100m.
Race 5: Bacardi Oakheart Maiden Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Mum Said No 2nd Victory Hotel 3rd Born To Run 4th- Caught Eloping
The explanation from trainer G. Jackson for the late declaration of A. Allen as the rider of NORSTROEM, and J. Orman as the rider of ADALFE in Race 6, was accepted.
As no senior rider was available for the indisposed C. Pye at the allotted weight, stewards permitted apprentice G. Steele to be the replacement rider for NOM DE PLUME.
SHAKY DUKE (T. O'Hara) and VICTORY HOTEL (B. Appo) were slow into stride.
CAUGHT ELOPING (L. Dillon) blundered on jumping away.
A. Allen, rider of NORSTROEM, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in nearing the 900m when insufficiently clear of DREAM RIDE (J. Orman), which had commenced to race ungenerously, resulting in DREAM RIDE being taken in, tightening the running of BOLTS’N’HOLTS (B. Stewart) and KOKO CLANG (S. Evans).
Passing the 500m, KOKO CLANG (S. Evans) attempted to take a run to the outside of HAYYLER’S HELL (M. O'Brien) and was held up and shifted to the inside to obtain clear running.
Near the 300m, BORN TO RUN EASY (D. Evans) shifted out and made contact with DREAM RIDE (J. Orman), and passing the 100m rolled in and hampered BOLTS’N’HOLTS.
At approximately the 200m, BOOMTOWN GIRL (H. Diener) shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of MUM SAID NO (D. Simmons).
BRADY (A. Taylor) and IRONOUTLAW (J. Stephens) raced wide throughout.
On return to scale, HAYYLER’S HELL was observed to have blood in a nostril. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the nose of the horse.
Race 6: XXXX Gold Class 1 Handicap- 1400 metres
1st Don’t Tell Ali 2nd Redwin 3rd Strong Til Dawn 4th- Redoute’s Power
IRIANA WIL (A. Allen), which was slow to begin, shifted out and made contact with ADALFE (J. Orman).
DR MORGUN (A. Taylor) began awkwardly.
A short distance after the start, TASH’S WILL (M. O'Brien) shifted out and made contact with IRIANA WIL.
Near the 200m, STRONG TIL DAWN (D. Evans) shifted out, resulting in COURT CLOWN (A. Kitson), which was tiring, being taken wider and hampered.
REDWIN (C. Whiteley) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Hahn Premuim Light Class 2 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Mayor of Clonmel 2nd Clevedon Court 3rd Wooden Eye Joe 4th- Precious Lilly
As no senior rider was available for the indisposed C. Pye at the allotted weight, stewards permitted apprentice G. Steele to be the replacement rider for WISH I WAS NELLY.
Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer D. Wright for the late declaration of T. O’Hara as the rider of THE HYDRATOR.
VATICAN’S STAR (A. Alan) blundered on jumping away. The horse was then ridden forward and in doing so shifted out, taking MARTY (C. Whiteley) wider.
WOODEN EYE JOE (L. Dillon) was slow to begin.
Leaving the 900m, SUSPICIOUS MISS (S. Evans) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of ROMONA MISS (M. McGillivray), and continued to overrace in the middle stages and lost some ground. Jockey Evans reported she advised connections to alter the gear on SUSPICIOUS MISS to winkers in lieu of blinkers.
After passing the 400m, CLEVEDON COURT (D. Evans) was held up on the heels of HIP SHAKE BANG (D. Simmons) momentarily and shifted inwards to obtain clear running.
MARTY (C. Whiteley) and HIP SHAKE BANG raced wide throughout.
