1st OUR NEDDY BOY 2nd LITTLE WHITE DOVE 3rd DO US PROUD 4th - LALITA
After being placed in the barriers NAVAL BELLE (D. Simmons) became fractious. The filly was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
OUR NEDDY BOY (T. O'Hara) began awkwardly.
RAZANDIES JESTER (L. Dillon) blundered on jumping, and then raced wide throughout the event. Jockey Dillon reported that the gelding had travelled well, however on straightening for home commenced to yield ground and he had concerns about the gelding's action. A post-race veterinary examination of RAZANDIES JESTER did not reveal any abnormalities.
Jockey J. Stephens was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that leaving the 500 metres he permitted LALITA to shift out when insufficiently clear of OUR NEDDY BOY (T. O'Hara), which was checked and lost its rightful running. In issuing the charge, stewards noted that at the time of the incident DO US PROUD had shifted in marginally. Jockey Stephens’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covering 2 race meetings, to commence at midnight 21st March 2014, up to and including 29th March 2014.
In the straight NAVAL BELLE raced greenly and was inclined to lay out.
A post-race veterinary examination of LALITA (J. Stephens) revealed that the filly's near hind leg had been galloped on above the hock.

VICTORY HOTEL (D. Evans) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 400 metres BLACK MONTY (App. J. Orman) had difficulty obtaining clear running and had to be shifted out to do so. A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK MONTY revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer L. Challacombe was advised that, as this was the first time the gelding had bled, BLACK MONTY will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gallop over at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward.
Trainer C. Garland reported that DECKED OUT (S. McGovern) will now be retired from racing.

When questioned as to the performance of PEEARN, trainer N. Mannion stated that the filly will now be sent for a spell. Nevertheless, stewards advised him that the filly would be required to barrier trial prior to its next race start.
Near the 200 metres STYLISH LUCK shifted out when struck with the whip.

1st LIKE THIS 2nd HOPE SPRINGS 3rd BORN TO RUN EASY 4th - ZARADA ANGEL

SHALL WE ROCK was a late scratching, at 2.17 p.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the gelding had suffered a laceration of its tongue.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed whilst stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey A. Coome, the rider of HOPE SPRINGS which finished 2nd, against LIKE THIS (App. M. McGillivray) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official patrol videos and taking into account their own observations, stewards found that HOPE SPRINGS and LIKE THIS both shifted ground and made contact, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced in the run to the finish. Stewards could not attribute the interference to HOPE SPRINGS being caused by LIKE THIS and accordingly the protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judge's placings.
SHOCKETEOR (S. Sheargold) and ZARADA ANGEL (T. O'Hara) made contact on jumping.
HOPE SPRINGS bounded in the air at the start.
Approaching the 900 metres BOLTS'N'HOLTS (B. Stewart), which was over-racing, shifted in slightly. ZAZALURI (K. Gates), which also was over-racing had to be steadied from the heels of BOLTS'N'HOLTS.
