1st SHANDIEN 2nd EKKAREEZA 3rd ROSELLA EAGLE 4th - MOONMERA

GOLDEN MAR (App. B. Appo) jumped out at the start.

SISTER KATIE (T. O'Hara) was slow to begin.

PICAPUB (R. McMahon) began awkwardly and was slow into stride, then was further tightened for room between SHANDIEN (J. P. Stanley) and I WON'T LET GO (C. Pye).

Shortly after the start GOLDEN MAR shifted in and bumped MYSTIC LAD (S. McGovern), resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced and racing ungenerously. MYSTIC LAD continued to race ungenerously and in the middle stages was inclined to hang out. A warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.

In the home straight MYSTIC LAD shifted ground under pressure.

SISTER KATIE, BULLETIN BELLE (App. R. Payne) and GOLDEN CZAR (App. K. Aho) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN CZAR revealed that the gelding was showing a slower than usual recovery rate.

Race 2: Hahn Premium Light Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st THAT'S POPS 2nd PLUM BOB 3rd DUMUZI 4th - MAFIA PRINCESS

The start was delayed when BRILLIANCONI (B. Stewart) had to be re-saddled behind the barriers.

BROWN DOUBT (D. Evans) was slow to begin.

DUMUZI (D. Hayse) began awkwardly.

POPULAR BELIEF (App. J. Orman) raced wide throughout.

Race 3: Bacardi Oakheart Maiden Handicap - 1400 metres
1st SUPPOSING 2nd MOSSIMO 3rd AZZURAYER 4th - GOIN' CRAZY

As Jockey C. Whiteley was not riding at today's meeting, Jockey A. Coome was substituted as the rider of BUENA VIDA.

AZZURAYER (D. Evans) dipped on jumping.

IMA PEARCE (T. O'Hara) and COOLOWIE (L. Dillon) were slow to begin.

In the early part of the straight IMA PEARCE laid in.

PAINT US A PICTURE and COWBOY'S GIRT raced wide throughout.

A veterinary examination of COWBOY'S GIRT (App. M. McGillivray) immediately following the race did not reveal any abnormalities. A further examination of the filly on cooling down revealed some soreness across the back. Trainer M. Barnham was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to COWBOY'S GIRT being permitted to race again.

Race 4: Bacardi Superior QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1200 metres
1st MISHANI GLADIATOR 2nd VICTORY HOTEL 3rd JAMES IS BLONDE 4th - MYTHOLOGIST

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T. Cook for the late declaration of Jockey D. Hayse as the rider of TALK TOUGH.

Prior to the race trainer L. Rowe advised stewards that he intended to instruct Jockey A. Coome to ride MYTHOLOGIST just off the pace, if possible. Public announcements were made to that effect and the gelding was ridden accordingly.

VICTORY HOTEL (D. Evans) was slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA FOCUS (R. Faehr) and NOT SO SOBER (App. M. McGillivray) were little slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres MAHRAJAAN (S. Watkin), which had commenced to over-race, laid in, despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in TALK TOUGH being tightened for room, checked and losing ground. It was noted that while attempting to relieve the pressure to his inside, Jockey Watkin was unable to do so adequately when FINAL CHAPTER (R. McMahon) raced forward of him. VICTORY HOTEL, which was following TALK TOUGH, was forced to shift out in an endeavour to avoid the heels of that runner. A warning was placed on the racing manners of MAHRAJAAN.

NOT SO SOBER raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the performance of MAHRAJAAN, Jockey S. Watkin stated that the gelding had begun well, however shortly after the start was placed under pressure in an attempt to obtain a forward position however when it commenced to over-race was not comfortable during the event. He further stated that the gelding had failed to make up ground in the straight and peaked on its run near the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed that it had sustained a small laceration to the off hind and had lost the off hind plate. Trainer R. Walsh informed stewards that the gelding will be freshened up prior to its next race start.

Race 5: Summer Bright Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st SHOW US THE WAY 2nd DESTINO STRADA 3rd GEARSTICK 4th - HEAVEN AND EARTH

SHOWPONY EXPRESS (App. R. Payne) was slow to begin.

CHAMPAGNE ELOPING (R. McMahon) bounded in the air at the start.

On jumping STARFIRE LADY (D. Evans) shifted in and made contact with OGGIE (T. O'Hara).

OGGIE and STARFIRE LADY were tightened between DOTHRAKI WARRIOR (A. Coome) and DESTINO STRADA (J. P. Stanley), both of which shifted ground, resulting in OGGIE clipping the heels of DESTINO STRADA and blundering.

Near the 900 metres CHAMPAGNE ELOPING was steadied from the heels of SHOWPONY EXPRESS, which shifted out slightly.

VATICAN'S STAR (J. Missen) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: Toohey’s Extra Dry (Open) Handicap - 1300 metres
1st TERMS OF TRADE 2nd MOTORISED 3rd PRINCELY 4th - DIRECT DEBIT

Apprentice A. Allen replaced Jockey C. Whiteley as the rider of MISHANI PERSUADER.

At the start ANDTHEBANDPLAYEDON (App. B. Appo) slipped behind and began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was displaying a slower than usual recovery rate.

Leaving the 200 metres TERMS OF TRADE shifted in slightly under pressure. At the same stage MOTORISED (B. Stewart) shifted in and away resulting in KLITSCHKO (R. McMahon) to be tightened for room between MOTORISED and DIRECT DEBIT (App. R. Payne), which shifted out slightly under pressure.

MISHANI PERSUADER and TERMS OF TRADE (L. Dillon) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of CRAIGLEA FALCON (A. Coome) did not reveal any abnormalities.

The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that on returning to scale it was noted that both hind legs of DIRECT DEBIT (App. R. Payne) had been galloped on. The gelding was treated.

When questioned regarding the performance of STAY THE NIGHT, Jockey D. Hayse stated that on face value the gelding may have been disappointing, however he was of the opinion that STAY THE NIGHT had been able to obtain a favourable position until rounding the home turn, where the gelding was inclined to hang out slightly and clipped the heels of DIRECT DEBIT, which rolled out. Jockey Hayse added that thereafter he placed STAY THE NIGHT under pressure and it failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities, other than a somewhat elevated heart rate. Trainer A. Jenkinson undertook to inform stewards if anything become apparent with STAY THE NIGHT in the days following the event.

Race 7: XXXX Island Class 2 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st BON TEMPS 2nd CASTLEDALE LAD 3rd MAGIC WALTZ 4th - WAY UP THERE

At the start MURTLE MISS (A. Coome) jumped out and began awkwardly.

On jumping, MURRAMARANG (R. McMahon) shifted in, taking EDGEROI HOPE (T. O'Hara) in and tightening BREAKIN' RULES (S. McCullum) between GO DIGGER (S. McGovern) and EDGEROI HOPE.

KEY THE CAN (N. Evans) was slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres BLOOMSDAY (App. R. Payne) hung out and shifted wider on the track.

Approaching the 600 metres GO DIGGER became unbalanced.

At the 350 metres Jockey D. Hayse, the rider of WAY UP THERE, dropped his whip.

WAY UP THERE (D. Hayse) raced three wide throughout.

IRIANA WILL (App. A. Allen) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the performance of MURTLE MISS, Jockey A. Coome stated that he had anticipated obtaining a forward position, however after getting further back than expected he placed his mount under pressure in the early part of the straight and MURTLE MISS failed to respond and was disappointing. Stewards will follow up the performance with trainer T. Cook in the coming days.
