RACE 1: MCINNES WILSON QTIS 600 H’CAP 1000M–
1st –Lambert 2nd –Craiglea Rapper 3rd-Al Frisco 4th –Craiglea Gee Tee

AL FRISCO (R Goltz) was examined by the club Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the track after the gelding got down in the float on route to the track. AL FRISCO was passed fit to start.

Due to a race book error R Fradd was declared as the rider of CRAIGLEA GEE TEE when in fact R Faehr was engaged to ride that gelding.

MADDIE YO YO (M Cant) jumped in the air at the start losing ground.

CRAIGLEA RAPPER (L Appo) shifted in shortly after the start tightening CRAIGLEA RAPPER (R Faehr).

DASHINGLY (A Lane) dipped of its own accord near the 700m.

CRAIGLEA BARKLY (D Monaghan) hung out rounding the 600m turn.

AL FRISCO (R Goltz) which raced wide throughout hung out badly from the 600m to the 300m. Trainer B Gill’s representative B Johnson was advised that AL FRISCO would be required to compete in a Barrier Jump Out prior to next start due to the geldings racing manners.

RACE 2:BARCARDI MAIDEN PLATE 1000M–
1st –Piccolo Knight 2nd –Matalan 3rd –Prince Rainier 4th –Al Dente

TEKKE BOKHARA (R Cox) was very slow to begin losing considerable ground. Trainer C Smith was advised that TEKKE BOKHARA would be required to obtain a Barrier Certificate prior to next start.

SANCTIFIED (C Bryen) which began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

PRINCE RAINIER (B Cornell) raced wide during the early stages.

PRESSURE BOY (D Rewald) shifted in near the 200m, hampering TEKKE BOKHARA.

RACE 3: METALCORP CLASS 3 H’CAP 1000M-
1st –Copacabana 2nd –Bonza Bronze 3rd –Amarocco Special 4th –Grey Skye

W Glass was fined $50 for weighing out without irons. In considering the matter Stewards took into account that Jockey Glass was not attempting to obtain a weight advantage.

SPIRITO VOLANTE (S Sweedman) blundered on jumping away.

ROYAL COUNSEL (A Taylor) over raced from the 800m.

Near the 400m, ROYAL COUNSEL improved onto the heels of the tiring BEGUILING STAR (W Glass) and had to be eased.

GREY SKYE (L McCoy) raced wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEGUILING STAR jockey W Glass stated that the mare at no stage felt comfortable in the run and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his efforts. Jockey Glass further stated that he had expected a forward showing from the mare and as such proved disappointing. Stewards noted jockey Glass’s explanation. A post race Veterinary Inspection of BEGUILING STAR failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 4: SANTOS CLASS B H’CAP 1200M-
1st-Nkosi’s Haven 2nd-Glennie West 3rd-Right Royal Salvo 4th-Rainy Knight

MOLLO (M Cant) and TESTATRIX (N Roebuck) both raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of QUELLO CORSA jockey L Appo stated that the mare at no stage felt comfortable in the run and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his efforts. Stewards noted jockey L Appo’s explanation.

RACE 5: XXXX GOLD ROMA CUP OPEN H’CAP 1640M-
1st-Chief Inspector 2nd-Degenda 3rd-Southerly Impact 4th-Tszyu

Due to a malfunction with the photo finish equipment the final three races were judged manually with the aid of a video camera positioned in the judge’s box.

ROYAL CHARIOT (D Rewald) jumped out at the start severely hampering CHIEF INSPECTOR (S Sweedman).

TSZYU (A Taylor) and CHIEF INSPECTOR both raced wide for the majority of the event.

SOUTHERLY IMPACT (R Goltz) raced with its head in the air from the 1500m until a point near the 900m.

TSZYU shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

RACE 6: CONDON TREASURE CLASS 3 PLATE 1640M-
1st-Lucky Duke 2nd-Pure Ebony 3rd-Dead Heat Qwerty/Legal Fee

DOMAIN (A Lane) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 4:41pm after the gelding became very fractious in the barriers sustaining superficial lacerations to both hind legs. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DOMAIN be refunded with deductions of 25 cents in the dollar on successful win bets and 18 cents in the dollar on successful place bets to apply.

Stewards advised DOMAIN’S trainer Mr K Waller that DOMAIN would be required to obtain a further Barrier Certificate prior to next race start.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight App. J Brown the rider of HALF DRUNK made application to the stewards to be declared a non runner based on being denied a fair start. When questioned regarding the start of the race App. Brown stated that the sole reason HALF DRUNK missed the start by a considerable distance was as a result of the gelding a short time previous to the started being effected, becoming fractious in the barriers resulting in App. Brown not being ready to jump. Stewards after considering App. Browns evidence and acting under the provisions of Ar143A denied App. Browns request to be declared a non runner as any disadvantage HALF DRUNK sustained at the start was as a result of its own barrier manners and not as a result of the barrier equipment used to affect the start. Stewards further advised App. Brown that the provisions of Ar 143A don’t allow for horses to be declared non runner solely based on a rider not being ready to commence the race.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight L Appo the rider of the joint dead heat for 3rd placegetter wished to view the photo finish print claiming he ran third outright. Jockey Appo was advised that the photo finish camera had malfunctioned and no print was available. Jockey Appo was shown the video footage from inside the judge’s tower which in the opinion of the Stewards was not conclusive enough to warrant the placing’s to be amended. Therefore Stewards declared correct weight on the judge’s original numbers.

WINNING SPECTRUM (R Hinricks) brushed the running rail of its own accord shortly after passing the winning post on the first occasion.

Near the 600m, WINNING SPECTRUM shifted in of its own accord brushing the running rail resulting in App. Hinricks’ foot being dislodged from the offside iron. A short distance later RUSTY’S CHOICE (D Rewald) shifted in resulting in CRAIGLEA PURSUIT (R Faehr) being taken in onto WINNING SPECTRUM which was tightened for room and forced to ease. D Rewald was advised to exercise more care when in similar circumstances in the future.
