SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Dalby 03.11.13 – Race 6
Trainer M. Goodwin was fined $200 under AR140A for presenting DHACOURT to race with incorrect gear.

Race 1: Condon Treasure QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m

Stewards declared CENTREFOLD BABE a late withdrawal at 1.00 pm after the filly dislodged the rider, broke through the barriers and commenced to buck for a short distance before falling.

Stewards ordered that all monies invested on CENTREFOLD BABE be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1.00 pm:

10 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6
22 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7

As a result of injuries sustained when falling, CENTREFOLD BABE was euthanized on humane grounds.

JUST AS SWEET (L. Tilley) was slow to begin.

At the start, MYTHOLOGIST (A. Coome) was checked when tightened for room between CHILLS (N. Tomizawa) and DRAGON MASTER (A. Fancourt) which shifted in. In this incident CHILLS became unbalanced.

Near the 150m PUBLICITY (S. Apthorpe) was disappointed for a run between DRAGON MASTER and CHILLS which shifted out, resulting in PUBLICITY being steadied and shifting in to obtain clear running.

Stewards questioned apprentice A. Fancourt with regards to the tactics adopted on DRAGON MASTER. She stated her instructions were to go forward and position her mount just off the speed. She added that after beginning awkwardly, her mount wanted to shift towards the outside rail in the early stages until near the 800m. She further added that while she was able to position her mount with cover behind the eventual winner MYTHOLOGIST, she was forced to race wide throughout. Trainer E. Hayes confirmed the instructions adding that the gelding was having its first start at the track and on the sand surface and believed that apprentice Fancourt had been a victim of circumstances and, while disappointed in the performance, expressed his satisfaction with the ride. Stewards accepted the explanations.

Race 2: McInnes Wilson Class 3 Plate 1200m

The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes owing to a power failure at the track.

KEEP YOUR HAT ON (R. Faehr) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 1000m JET HERO (W. Doyle) and TELL ME NO LIES (B. Newport) were steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of LIKE A BIRD (A. Best).

MONTO (N. Tomizawa) shifted out shortly after the start and forced ZIPOLITE (L. Tilley) wider on the track.

ZIPOLOITE and MONTO raced wide throughout.

LIKE A BIRD laid in under pressure in the home straight resulting in the rider being unable to fully test the horse over the concluding stages.

Race 3: FK Gardner & Sons Group Maiden Handicap 1000m

The start of this race was delayed when LITTLE RED (L. Appo) was required to be resaddled.

Correct weight was delayed to enable R. Kerwin, the rider of 3rd placegetter KUNG FU KITTY, to view the stewards' patrol film to establish whether she had grounds to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter SPIRIT BEAT (M. McGillivray) in the home straight. After viewing the videos, R. Kerwin declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

At the start, RENTRICE (S. Egan), CLASS OF ECONOMY (H. Kim) and OUR GOLD ROSE (N. Tomizawa) were all tightened for room between HIZOU (S. Apthorpe) and AIN’T GOING DOWN (B. Newport) when both runners shifted ground. In this incident OUR GOLD ROSE was checked and lost ground.

MCQUEEN (T. O’Hara), NO INVOLVEMENT (G. Geran) and HARADASTAR (R. Faehr) were all tightened for room at the start between SPIRIT BEAT (M. McGillivray) and LITTLE RED (L. Appo) when both runners shifted ground.

MCQUEEN raced greenly for the majority of the race and hung in under pressure in the home straight.

NO INVOLVEMENT and HARADASTAR raced wide throughout.

KUNG FU KITTY which laid out under pressure in the home straight made contact with SPIRIT BEAT on several occasions over the concluding stages.

S. Apthorpe (HIZOU) stated that his mount travelled well until the 400m, however when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding. He added that the gelding may not have handled the sand track surface.

Race 4: Hahn Super Dry Class 1 Handicap 1000m

Shortly after the start, PERFORMIA (M. McGillivray) shifted in and away from WYLIE (N.Tomizawa) and had to be steadied from the heels of MANFRED THE MAN (L. Tilley).

Near the 900m AUTOVON (D. Evans) was steadied from the heels of BEAUTIFUL BARB (S. Apthorpe) which shifted in. S. Apthorpe was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

PLATTERS (R. Kerwin) and AUTOVON raced wide throughout.

Near the 500m BARACCA (T. O’Hara) improved onto the heels of PERFORMIA and was steadied.

Near the 400m MASAKARI (W. O’Connell) shifted out slightly and was steadied from the heels of ARESVEPEE (R. Payne) resulting in MASAKARI becoming unbalanced.

Near the 300m GENTLE GOODNIGHT shifted out under pressure and was checked from the heels of PERFORMIA.

Rounding the home turn, ARESVEPEE shifted out and bumped AUTOVON which became unbalanced, a short distance later AUTOVON laid in despite the efforts of the rider and bumped ARESVEPEE.

Approaching the 100m GENTLE GOODNIGHT was steadied when MANFRED THE MAN shifted in under pressure. L. Tilley was severely reprimanded in this incident and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

R. Goltz the rider of PALPITATE which performed below market expectations, stated that his instructions were to ride forward from the barriers, however after being slow to begin his mount raced further back than expected. He added that the gelding resented the kickback from today’s track and did not quicken when pressured. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Boyd Harms Memorial Country Queensland Showcase Open Handicap 1000m

OUTSTANDINGLY (G. Geran) stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Morris was advised that an official warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.

R. Faehr the rider of GESINK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in near the 600m tightening the running of SPEEDING DRAGON (M. McGillivray) which was steadied and became unbalanced. Stewards, when assessing penalty, took into account the minor degree of interference suffered to SPEEDING DRAGON and the exceptional riding record of R. Faehr and in the circumstances issued a reprimand.

Near the 300m SPEEDING DRAGON shifted out and had to be steadied away from the heels of GESINK.

G. Geran stated that OUTSTANDINGLY got too far back after losing ground at the start and under today’s weight of 61 kilograms, was unable to make any ground over the short distance of today’s race.

Race 6: Coca Cola Benchmark 60 Handicap1640m

FIDESDI (M. McGillivray) which made contact with the enclosure gate underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed to start.

PURE SUNSET which made contact with the barriers when being loaded underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently passed to start.

At the start, BOURGEOIS BABE (A. Coome) which began awkwardly was then tightened for room between ANGELFROM ABOVE (G. Geran) and TIS AWESOME (S. Egan) which jumped out.

FIDESDI blundered at the start and lost ground.

Leaving the 1400m OH SO CLOSE (H. Kim) was steadied when MONTREUX JAZZ (S. Apthorpe) shifted in when not fully clear. ETCHED IN GLASS which was following OH SO CLOSE shifted in at the same time, got its head up and hung out resulting in the horse racing very wide rounding the first turn. OH SO CLOSE then shifted out forcing MAGIC GLENYCE (L. Tilley) wider on the track. S. Apthorpe was severely reprimanded in this incident.

Near the 1000m ETCHED IN GLASS which was racing keenly, had to be checked from the heels of MAGIC GLENYCE which shifted in marginally. While this incident was of considerable significance, stewards were mindful of the racing manners of ETCHED IN GLASS at the time and that the shift from MAGIC GLENYCE was marginal.

FIDESDI and MAGIC GLENYCE raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of SNOW’S A LADY revealed the mare to be lame in both forelegs. Trainer P. Sexton will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before SNOW’S A LADY races again.

ANGEL FROM ABOVE which broke down after passing the winning post was euthanized on humane grounds.

J. Baker (TEAM THUNDERSTONE) was fined $100 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

J. Baker, the rider of TEAM THUNDERSTONE, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in as the 5th placegetter.

Race 7: XXXX Gold/Desiree Gill Memorial Roma Cup Open Handicap 1640m

Trainer L. Rowe reported that THE SHOOTER had received a minor abrasion on its forehead which occurred whilst being transported to the track. A pre-race veterinary examination of THE SHOOTER passed the gelding to race.

At the start, LUCASM (R. Faehr), SHAKES (L. Tilley) and ELLIE LA VIE (M. McGillivray) were all tightened for room between TESTASCANA (J. Baker) and MONTANUS (W. Doyle) which blundered on jumping away and then shifted in.

PRIMED (S. Egan) which was fractious in the barriers put its head down as the start was effected and began awkwardly losing ground.

Near the 1500m TESTASCANA was steadied when racing in restricted room between SHAKES (L. Tilley) and DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY (R. Goltz) which shifted out slightly.

MONTANUS overraced in the early stages.

Leaving the 1400m TESTASCANA raced in restricted room to the inside of JACK’N’ME which shifted in momentarily.

THE SHOOTER was held up for clear running from leaving the 500m until the 300m behind MONTANUS which had begun to weaken.

A. Coome, the rider of THE SHOOTER, reported that while his mount travelled well throughout, he was forced to race on the rail when PRIMED, which was to his outside, was inclined to lay in onto his mount for the majority of the event. He added that when improving into the race his mount was held up behind the weakening MONTANUS and lost momentum.

TROILUS FUSE (D. Evans) laid out rounding the home turn and continued to shift out towards JACK’N’ME under pressure in the home straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of THE SHOOTER revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer L. Rowe was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before THE SHOOTER raced again.
