Race 1: Tactile Suppliers Queensland QTIS 3yo Maiden H'Cap - 1600m
1st – Gold Rating 2nd – Etching 3rd – Slepner 4th - Apepi

Trainer V. Heading was fined $50 for failing to produce the Document of Description for APEPI.

The start of this race was delayed when APEPI proved difficult to load.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by M. Speers, rider of the 3rd placegetter, ETCHING, against SLEPNER being placed 2nd, alleging interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video, stewards found that near the 200m, SLEPNER shifted out, resulting in ETCHING’S momentum being impeded and the filly being forced wider on the track. Taking into account the half head margin between the relevant horses at the finish, stewards were of the opinion that such interference warranted a reversal of placings and the protest was therefore upheld, with the Judge’s placings being amended to read: Gold Rating – 1st Etching – 2nd Slepner – 3rd Apepi – 4th. At a subsequent inquiry, J. Kropp, rider of SLEPNER, was advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts when shifting ground.

SLEPNER (J. Kropp) was slow to begin.

Near the 1400m, SLEPNER had a tendency to hang in, crowding the running of TUCKCLANG (K. Pope). SLEPNER then shifted out and was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the race.

ETCHING (M. Speers) commenced to race ungenerously near the 1300m and shifted out.

PAULY PARMESAN (B. Powell) was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

ETCHING lay in under pressure leaving the 400m and continued to do so until the finish line.

GOLD RATING was held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.

Race 2: Adenbrook Homes Class 3 H'Cap - 2150m
1st – Smartazariz 2nd – Notting 3rd – Thunder Beach 4th – Super Wonton

SMARTAZARIZ (D. Griffin) was slow to begin.

Near the 1350m, WITH ELEGANCE (M. Squires) improved on to the heels of NOTTING (J. Kropp) and had to be steadied.

M. Hellyer, rider of THUNDER BEACH, dropped his whip near the 450m.

Jockey A. Merritt, rider of BARAKO, was found guilty of a charge under AR137A, in that he used his whip in an excessive manner in the early stages of the race and again in the latter stages between the 700m and 200m. Jockey Merritt was fined the sum of $300.

Race 3: Poole Group 3yo & Up Maiden H'Cap - 1400m

LISALDATROY (E. Wilkinson) threw its head in the air at the start and raced ungenerously for some distance.

RESURRECTED (R. Mason), which hung out for the majority of the race, commenced to shift wider on the track leaving the 700m. Trainer G. Clunes was advised that RESURRECTED must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

DANE RAIDER (A. Spinks) had to be steadied near the 400m when tightened for room between LEFT HOOK (K. Pope) and CRAIGLEA RUBY (K. Cunningham), which shifted out. K. Cunningham, rider of CRAIGLEA RUBY, was reprimanded,.

Race 4: Suncoast Car Care 3yo & Up F&M Maiden H'Cap - 1100m
1st –Bloomin Thunder 2nd – Craiglea Emerald 3rd – Muddy Millie 4th – Bella Principessa

Following an explanation from trainer P. Duff, stewards permitted QUEEN OF THE STORM to race without a tongue-tie. Mr Duff was however fined the sum of $50. AR140A.

ESPRIT D’AMOUR was declared a late scratching at 2 pm on veterinary advice after the horse slipped over in the tie-up stalls. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on ESPRIT D’AMOUR were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Subsequently, trainer D. Jones was fined $300 for failing to report this condition as required as soon as practicable, which resulted in the horse being a late scratching after betting had commenced. AR140(a).

MUDDY MILLIE (J. Piper) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 400m, SUPERSTAR GIRL (K. Forrester) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by CRAIGLEA EMERALD (A. Badger), which shifted in.

MISS IRONSIDE (K. Pope) raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUPERSTAR GIRL, which slipped over in the parade yard following the event, revealed the mare to have sustained a superficial abrasion to the near hind fetlock.

Race 5: Slade Bloodstock 3yo & Up C&G Maiden H‘cap - 1100m
1st – Guns 2nd – Another Heart 3rd – Dad’s Blue Boy 4th – Top Resource

TOP RESOURCE (A. Merritt) had to be steadied near the 700m after improving on to the heels of PENDAMORE (B. Powell).

GUNS (O. Turpin) was held up for clear running leaving the 500m until the 400m, and then had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 300m until inside the 200m.

Near the 150m, GRADUEIGHT (K. Forrester) had to be steadied when SLIP UP shifted in under pressure, making contact with that runner.

MANEROO CRUISE (J. Kropp) and PENDAMORE (B. Powell) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: Number One Quality Homes Class 1 H‘cap - 1600m
1st – Worthy Quest 2nd – Char Innocent 3rd – In Nangana 4th – Hussminda

Trainer P. Sexton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for WHATAHOUTE by the prescribed time.

BEAU KEA (B. Powell) was fractious in the barriers and reared prior to the start.

WHATAHOUTE (M. Speers), HAMATYM (K. Pope) and CHAR INNOCENT (A. Merritt) were all slow to begin.

HUSSMINDA (D. Griffin) had a tendency to hang out shortly after the start until after leaving the 1400m, and then shifted in near the 1100m, tightening the running of BEAU KEA, which brushed the running rail as a result.

Leaving the 400m, HAMATYM became unbalanced and shifted in, having to be steadied off the heels of BEAU KEA.

CHAR INNOCENT shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Whilst stewards were of the opinion that FORESHORE had not established that position, stewards were concerned with the actions of C. Dixon, rider of THE FIFER, by moving his horse wider without taking due care. C. Dixon, rider of THE FIFER, was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.

BUDDHA BABE (K. Wharton) lost its off fore plate in running.
