Race 4:
Trainer Mr B. Ansley was fined $100 under L.R. 70(1) for failing to declare a rider for SHOOTING STARS by the prescribed time.
ROCKHAMPTON, TUESDAY 3RD MARCH 2009:
Race 8, Open Handicap 1200m:
Trainer Mr R. McCall was fined $100 under A.R. 114 for failing to notify the scratching of GROWSIR by the prescribed time.

Race 1: WIN 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap – 1000m
1st – Wedding Lily 2nd – Kellina’s Shadow 3rd – Ben’s Choice 4th - Bibiana
Shortly after the start NO QUARTER (Ms B. Payne), which was slow to begin, was hampered by LADY EOWYN (Ms K. Cunningham).
COMEONWILLIE (N. Thomas) was slow to begin, then after leaving the 600 metres raced wide.
KELLINA’S SHADOW (E. Wilkinson) and LADY EOWYN (Ms K. Cunningham) raced wide throughout.
Over the concluding stages SCONANDTINK (W. Clasohm) and BIBIANA (A. Best) were inclined to lay in under pressure.
Race 2: HOT 91 3-Y-O & Up Maiden Plate - 1100m
1st – Zurge’s Boy 2nd – Queen Of The Storm 3rd – Archway’s Bliss 4th - Alfindo
After arriving behind the barriers, at the request of Jockey A. Best, PURRING JUDGE was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed to take its place in the field.
ALFINDO (Ms B. Payne) and PURRING JUDGE (A. Best) were slow to begin.
At the start, SIR MOSSMAN (K. Pope) was hampered between ARCHWAY’S BLISS (E. Wilkinson) and VISION OF FALVELON (W. Clasohm), which shifted in.
Over the concluding stages, QUEEN OF THE STORM (D. Gill) was inclined to shift out under pressure.
A post-race veterinary examination of PURRING JUDGE (A. Best), which tailed off and finished a distant last, revealed that the horse was lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr I. Jackson was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be provided prior to PURRING JUDGE being permitted to race again.
Race 3: Yalumba Class 3 Handicap - 1100m
1st – Fantastic Movie 2nd – Rhodamine 3rd – Hyde Park 4th - Disastrous
RHODAMINE (App. J. Piper) knuckled on jumping and shortly after the start was hampered by CHASING CHESTER (E. Wilkinson), which was taken in by YUKETAN (K. Pope), which began awkwardly.
Leaving the 900 metres HYDE PARK (A. Best) was steadied to avoid the heels of ALF ON THE RUN (R. Mason), which shifted in and away from RHODAMINE (J. Piper).
BUDDHA BABE (W. Clasohm) raced wide early.
Leaving the 500 metres ALF ON THE RUN (R. Mason) improved up onto the heels of the tiring BUDDHA BABE (W. Clasohm) and had to be steadied. YUKETAN (K. Pope), which was following was also obliged to steady and shift wider on the track.
Approaching the 200 metres FANTASTIC MOVIE (N. Thomas) shifted in under pressure and inconvenienced BUDDHA BABE (W. Clasohm).
Over the concluding stages HYDE PARK (A. Best) was inclined to lay in and was steadied to avoid the heels of RHODAMINE (App. J. Piper).
Race 4: Sky Channel Class 1 Handicap – 1400m
1st – Supreme Best 2nd – General Iglesia 3rd – Frenardi 4th - Strongly
ALL SPICED UP (N. Thomas), which was reluctant to proceed to the barriers, threw its head in the air and injured rider N. Thomas. After being examined by the Ambulance officers Jockey Thomas was deemed unable to fulfil his engagement and as a result ALL SPICED UP was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 5.45 p.m. Subsequently stewards ordered that all bets made on ALL SPICED UP be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of ALL SPICED UP be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 17¢, place 15¢. Trainer Mr C. Morphy was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
REASONING (K. Cunningham), FLYING EL MOXIE (B. Payne) and CRAIGLEA RUBY (App. N. Yamada) were slow to begin.
SUPREME BEST (App. S. Kennedy) raced wide early.
Near the 900 metres, REASONING (K. Cunningham) had to be steadied when tightened for room by STRONGLY (A. Best), which was taken in by BLACK DAKOTA (A. Best), which shifted in whilst being steadied from the heels of CRAIGLEA RUBY (N. Yamada).
Approaching the 400 metres GENERAL IGLESIA (E. Wilkinson) was momentarily held up and shifted out to obtain clear running, resulting in STRONGLY (A. Best) and BLACK DAKOTA (D. Browne) being tightened to the inside of WATERFORD SPRINGS (W. Clasohm).
CRAIGLEA RUBY (App. N. Yamada) raced wide throughout.
Race 5: XXXX Open Handicap - 1600m
1st – Malta 2nd – Intheway 3rd – Nevada Gambler 4th - Decerto
FOOLISH (A. Best), which refused to be loaded into the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 6.25 p.m. Subsequently stewards ordered that all bets made on FOOLISH be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of FOOLISH be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 39¢, place 32¢. Trainer M. Webb was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again. Trainer M Webb was also reprimanded for presenting FOOLISH late to the enclosure.
DECERTO (N Thomas) was tightened for room and lost ground at the start between, BEE DUB (J Murphy) and MALTA (D Browne), which shifted in.
A post-race veterinary examination of BEE DUB (J. Murphy) did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 6: Caloundra RSL Class 1 Handicap - 1000m
1st – Lots of Allure 2nd – Coen 3rd – Craiglea Chevy 4th - Trail of Secrets
TRAIL OF SECRETS (N. Thomas) began awkwardly.
Approaching the 800 metres TOWER BRIDGE (W. Clasohm) had to be steadied when tightened for room between LOTS OF ALLURE (App. J. Piper), and CRAIGLEA CHEVY (App. M. Hellyer) , which was taken in by TRAIL OF SECRETS (N. Thomas).
Stewards questioned Jockey N. Thomas for the seemingly disappointing performance of TRAIL OF SECRETS. Jockey Thomas explained that after beginning awkwardly, he rode forward and as a result was caught wide in the early stages, in his opinion, this contributed to the horse failing to run on as expected. A post-race veterinary examination of TRAIL OF SECRETS did not reveal any abnormalities.
Trainer Mr P. Fleming was fined $50 under A.R. 140A for failing to present CRAIGLEA CHEVY with a tongue tie.
Race 7: Sunshine Coast Daily 3-Y-O & Up Maiden – 1600m
1st – Professor 2nd – No Fear of Heights 3rd – Real Grand 4th – Verre Elite
PROFESSOR (A. Best) was slow to begin.
CENTENARY HIGHWAY (C. Kearney) overraced during the early stages.
PROFESSOR (A. Best) had difficulty obtaining clear running during the early stages of the straight.
