SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From ITC meeting, 17.9.09
Trainer R. Heathcote reported that after the poor performance of Racing Heart and subsequent veterinary examination after the race which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities, he engaged his own veterinary surgeon to examine the horse at his stables, which resulted in no significant findings being reported, however his veterinary surgeon was of the opinion that the horse had general soreness. R. Heathcote added that Racing Heart would be sent for a 6 to 8 week spell.


Race 1: Hot 91 Maiden H'cap - 1000m
1st – Explore The World 2nd – Brits Star 3rd – Count Fergus 4th – Goody Four Shoes

ADANGERTOHIMSELF reared in the barriers, became cast, resulting in J. Kropp being dislodged. ADANGERTOHIMSELF was subsequently cleared to race by the club’s veterinary surgeon, however apprentice J. Kropp was unfit to fulfil his engagement on the horse. ADANGERTOHIMELF was declared a late scratching at 1.46 pm Subsequent to the event all monies invested on ADANGERTOHIMSELF were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer J. Johnstone was advised that he must provide 2 barrier certificates for ADANGERTOHIMSELF prior to its next race start. As J. Kropp was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

EXPLORE THE WORLD (M. Morris) was slow to begin.

PIC THE KING (C. Kearney) began awkwardly.

DREAM TAKER (M. Heagney) began awkwardly, shifting out and making contact with ZADKIEL (J. Byrne).

Near the 800m, EXPLORE THE WORLD (M. Morris) had to be steadied when crowded for room when inside of MAIZWAY (M. Hughes), which shifted in away from NATURAL MISS (K. Sawyers), which had a tendency to lay in.

GOODY FOUR SHOES (P. Wolfgram) and SHELAQ (A. Spinks) raced wide throughout.


Race 2: Sunshine Coast Daily QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1100m
1st – I’m Hot 2nd – Tickle The Kitty 3rd – Ponzi Scheme 4th – Velvet Knight

At the request of jockey J. Byrne, TOUCH OF SPICE underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers. TOUCH OF SPICE was found to be lame in the near foreleg was declared a late scratching at 2.18 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on TOUCH OF SPICE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer R.Bradshaw was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start.

PONZI SCHEME (E. Wilson) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with LIKAPHANTOM (K. Pope).

OUR GOLD STASH (M. Hellyer) jumped away awkwardly, losing ground.

VELVET KNIGHT (M. Hughes), which commenced to overrace in the early stages, had to be steadied from the heels of TICKLE THE KITTY (D. Browne) approaching the 800m when that horse shifted in.

Nearing the 800m, LIKAPHANTOM (K. Pope), which had commenced to overrace, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PONZI SCHEME, which shifted in. After considering all the evidence, stewards severely reprimanded apprentice E. Wilson, rider of PONZI SCHEME, and advised her that she must be the required 2 lengths clear when shifting ground.

Approaching the 700m, TICKLE THE KITTY (D. Browne) had to be steadied and lost ground when being eased to avoid the heels of PONZI SCHEME (E. Wilson), which shifted in when not clear. Stewards severely reprimanded apprentice E. Wilson, rider of PONZI SCHEME, and advised her to provide more clearance in future.

VELVET KNIGHT was inclined to hang out approaching the home turn and continued to do so for the remainder of the straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

A post-race veterinary examination of MORINGA BUBBLES, which finished a distant last, revealed the horse to be shin sore in both forelegs. Trainer R. Bradshaw was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start.




Race 3: Win Television Class 1 H'cap - 2000m
1st – Holy Apollo 2nd – Williamstown 3rd – Moringa’s King 4th - Langtime


GOLD GLEAM began awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 1200m, GOLD GLEAM (M. Heagney) improved on to the heels of BEARHUG and had to be steadied.

HOLY APOLLO (R. Goltz) raced wide in the middle stages.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of FUBAH, jockey D. Browne stated that it was not his intention to lead on the horse however the horse commenced to travel and it was his decision not to restrain his mount but to let it stride. He felt the horse travelled well within itself in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure near the 600m, FUBAH failed to respond to his riding from that point and, in his opinion, proved disappointing A post-race veterinary examination of FUBAH failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 4: Lyndhurst Stud Maiden H'cap - 1400m
1st – Christark 2nd – First Lieutenant 3rd – Check The Chips 4th – Check The Leader

As D. Griffin was injured, B. Pengelly was substituted as the rider of CHECK THE CHIPS.

CHECK THE LEADER began awkwardly and lost ground.

MORANT’S VISION (K. Pope) was tightened for room at the start between HENZELITE (K.Sawyers) and PICCONE (M.Radecker) when both horses shifted ground.

Near the 100m, FIRST LIEUTENANT (J. Byrne) and CHRISTARK (D. Browne) came together and made contact resulting in FIRST LIEUTENANT becoming unbalanced.

Leaving the 100m, M. Hellyer, rider of MR DAYBREAK, dropped his near-side rein, which placed him at a disadvantage in riding his mount right to the finish line.

FIRST LIEUTENANT (J. Byrne), VERRE ELITE (A. Pattillo) and MR DAYBREAK (M. Hellyer) raced wide throughout.


Race 5: Select Bathroom & Plumbing Centre Class 4 H'cap - 1000m
1st – Al Fawzi 2nd – Belboah 3rd – Gallant Pilot 4th – Brain Explosion

BRAIN EXPLOSION (I. Coombes) was tightened for room on jumping away between AL FAWZI (S. Kennedy) and BELBOAH (M. Hellyer), which shifted out.

BEST OF CEEDEE (R. Goltz) was slow to begin.

When asked to explain the seemingly disappointing performance of BEST OF CEEDEE, R. Goltz stated that he obtained a good run in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure near the 700m, the horse failed to respond to his riding. Trainer P. Sexton was in agreement that the horse was disappointing and it was his opinion that the horse did not seem comfortable on today’s track surface. P. Sexton advised stewards that he would report to stewards any abnormalities with BEST OF CEEDEE that become apparent in the days following the race. A post-race veterinary examination of BEST OF CEEDEE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

WINLANA (K. Sawyers) raced extremely wide throughout.

When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of AL FAWZI, trainer S. Mackinnon stated that the horse had benefited from a let up and at its previous start on 8 July the horse did not handle the rain affected track. Mr Mackinnon added that the gelding performed at its best on the cushion track where it had previously been successful. The explanation was noted.


Race 6: XXXX Class 2 H'cap - 1400m
1st – Patmoss 2nd – Damashqui 3rd – Maximiss 4th –Many Talents

DAMASHQUI (J. Byrne) and MANY TALENTS (K. Pope) were slow to begin.

BIZANTE (M. Radecker) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MANY TALENTS, K. Pope stated that after the horse was slow to begin it was reluctant to show its customary speed and obtained a position at the rear of the field. K. Pope further added that the horse never travelled comfortably and was hard ridden throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination of MANY TALENTS failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards intend to interview trainer M. Mair regarding the performance of MANY TALENTS.

When asked to explain the disappointing performance of RUAKIWI ROLLER, C. Priest stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages, however after leaving the 600m the horse failed to respond to her riding and compounded to finish a distant last . A post-race veterinary examination of RUAKIWI ROLLER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BIZANTE, M. Radecker stated that the horse did not show its early gate speed, however due to the horse having returned from a short spell she was not overly concerned. M. Radecker further stated that the horse travelled well within itself however when placed under pressure in the straight, it failed to respond and began to weaken from the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination of BIZANTE revealed the horse to be coughing. Trainer T. Hess will be informed he would be required to provide to stewards the results of an endoscopic examination on BIZANTE and a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.


Race 7: Yalumba Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Zenacity 2nd – Poinciana 3rd – Slepner 4th – It’s Wunderbar

The start of this race was delayed when MATAI proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Harden was advised that a warning would be place on the horse’s barrier manners.

FREDERIK THE DANE (K. Sawyers) was tightened for room at the start between POINCIANA (M. Wood) and ZENACITY (M. Heagney), which shifted in.

PARAMOUNT (S.Katsidis) began awkwardly and lost ground.

ZENACITY had a tendency to lay in in the early stages.

Near the 200m, IT’S WINDERBAR (M. Hellyer) shifted in under pressure, obligating its rider to stop riding and straighten.

PARAMOUNT lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

IT’S WUNDERBAR and LUVENGER (A. Pattillo) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of ZENACITY, trainer P. Bell stated that the horse was having its first start for his stable today since coming from Victoria and had pleased him with its recent work. Mr Bell further added that the mare’s recent form in Melbourne had been on rain-affected tracks and the horse seemed to appreciate the cushion track today. The explanation was noted.
