Mr Mair undertook to report to stewards the results of any veterinary tests he has carried out on the horse in coming days.

SOCIETY LASS (K. Wharton) and SHOOT FER LOVE (B. Wallace) bumped on jumping away.
UWIBAMI (K. Ashton) and KILWINNING OPTION (R. Wiggins) were a little slow to begin.
A post-race veterinary examination of KILWINNING OPTION, which performed below expectations, revealed the colt to be lame in the near hind leg. A swab sample was taken from KILWINNING OPTION. Connections were advised that they must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the horse’s next start.
Race 2: CON SEARLE MAIDEN H’CAP - 1000m
1st – Dodge County 2nd – Korvey Choice 3rd – Alestelle Lady 4th – Blasko
ROCK MUNCHER (A. Spinks) attempted to buck whilst being paraded to the barriers, dislodging A. Spinks, and galloped for a considerable distance before being recaptured. ROCK MUNCHER was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.02 p.m. by stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on ROCK MUNCHER be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. Trainer M. Reynolds was advised that ROCK MUNCHER must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before its next race start. A. Spinks, who was stood down from his remaining engagements by the Club’s doctor, was advised that he must produce a medical certificate before he resumes riding.
DODGE COUNTY (M. Hellyer) and KORVEY CHOICE (B. Looker) bumped on jumping away
Leaving the 600m ALESTELLE LADY (W. D'Avila) improved up on to the heels of DODGE COUNTY and had to be eased.
W. D’Avila, the rider of ALESTELLE LADY, accidentally dropped his whip near the 150m.

Race 6: SKY CHANNEL CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Forbidden Fruit 2nd – Benaura Girl 3rd – Count Iglesia 4th – Sir Emland
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer L. Richardson for the late declaration of rider for ALLURE SPENDER (Race 6) and SHOTEKA (Race 8).
Due to a clerical error, J. Hoopert was advertised as the rider of CLEAR DROP when J. Kropp had been declared as the rider of that gelding.
As G. Colless was to be overweight, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of BENAURA GIRL. G. Colless was fined $100 under AR. 120(b).

BENAURA GIRL (D. Griffin) and FLINGITNOW (M. Hellyer) overraced during the early stages.

Near the 600m FLINGITNOW was inconvenienced when LADY PEMM shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice D. McWhinney, the rider of LADY PEMM, was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.
Stewards sought an explanation from W. D’Avila regarding the tactics he adopted on ICE APPLE during the early and middle stages, particularly where there was an opportunity for him to get cover behind ALLURE SPENDER (J. Taylor). W. D’Avila stated that his instructions were to ride aggressively out of the barriers and push forward, however his mount was slow to begin and although he attempted to follow those instructions ICE APPLE commenced to overrace rounding the first turn and he had to shift out three wide on the track. Trainer J. McLachlan confirmed the instructions issued to W. D’Avila. Stewards noted the comments of W. D’Avila, however were critical of his riding and advised that in future in similar circumstances they would expect him to either allow his mount to stride forward or gain cover rather than being caught wide.
