1st – Psychodelic 2nd – Not To Share 3rd – Black Cash 4th – Rose Of Tessie
SPUR POINT (P. Hammersley) began awkwardly and a short distance later was steadied when tightened by BLACK CASH (J. Holder), which shifted in.
BOOYAH (C. Priest) and SO DOMINANT (M. Cahill) bumped on jumping away.
NOT TO SHARE (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.
TOOSEXYFORMYSHORTS, SO DOMINANT and NOT TO SHARE raced wide throughout the event.
SO DOMINANT hung out from the 800m turn until the 400m.
ROSE OF TESSIE (J. Taylor) and SO DOMINANT were both inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of PEPPERED BLACK, which raced below expectation, revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice M. Wood explained that he rode the horse in a midfield position as instructed, however he felt that the horse did not feel comfortable on today’s cushion track surface. He added that the horse was hard ridden throughout the event but failed to respond to his riding and was most disappointing.

PLAYACTION (W. D'Avila) overraced during the early and middle stages and was continually steadied off the heels of LET’S BE MARY (C. Priest).
Stewards questioned apprentice C. Priest, the rider of LET’S BE MARY, in relation to her riding of the horse, in particular her failure to position her mount on the rails racing down the back straight. Apprentice Priest stated that her instructions were to lead on the horse, however racing down the back straight the rider of PLAYACTION appealed to her for room and she was reluctant to cross as she felt she may not have been fully clear. She added that near the 800m jockey D’Avila again appealed for racing room and as she again felt she was not sufficiently clear maintained her position off the rail. Stewards noted her explanation, however she was advised that in similar circumstances she should exercise more initiative and when clear assume a position closer to the rails.

Following an application from trainer P. Blackwell, who made submissions on behalf of apprentice S. Wiseman, stewards permitted S. Wiseman, stewards issued her with a severe reprimand under AR. 92(12).
AMISHEE BELLE, which became fractious in the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 2.07 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the filly had sustained an injury. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on AMISHEE BELLE be refunded, with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply.
ALL MISTY (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.
LOVE ARIA (C. Whiteley) raced wide throughout.
HOA LONG DANCER (P. Keane) was inclined to lay in in the early part of the straight, resulting in FLAWLESS (M. Wood) being steadied. At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice P. Keane was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and apprentice M. Wood was admonished for his standard of evidence at a stewards’ inquiry.
A post-race veterinary examination of ONE MORE ROYAL (P. Hammersley), which compounded in the home straight, failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

PICCALI, SWIFT CASH (K. Wharton) and BIG RED FELLA (J. Taylor) raced wide throughout.
Near the 200m PICCALI had to be steadied from the heels of PASUGO which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice P. Keane, the rider of PASUGO, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
A post-race veterinary examination of STAINGLASS, which raced below expectation, failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Race 7: ACCESS INSULATION CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1400m
1st – Boobyella 2nd – Lunar Rose 3rd – Rhodes To Glory 4th – Valdisano

OCEAN JOURNEY (M. Hellyer) raced wide in the early stages.
PEELINGS (L. Cassidy) and MAKTIG PANIS VITAE (S. Wiseman) raced wide throughout.
Near the 800m MAROON BELLS had to be steadied when cramped for room between MAKTIG PANIS VITAE and COMAHNI (O. Turpin) when both horses shifted ground slightly.
STREETSON (D. Griffin) overraced during the middle stages.
A post-race veterinary examination of OCEAN JOURNEY revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery rate.
Leaving the 300m OCEAN JOURNEY was checked when tightened for room between COMAHNI, which shifted out and away from CERTEZZA (D. Browne), and MAROON BELLS, which was forced in by MAKTIG PANIS VITAE, which shifted in abruptly. In this incident REBELLIOUS SPIRIT (K. Sawyers), which was following, had to be checked. After taking evidence from all riders, trainer P. Blackwell (MAKTIG PANIS VITAE), and veterinary evidence which revealed that MAKTIG PANIS VITAE was slightly lame in the near hind leg, stewards gave apprentice Wiseman the benefit of a doubt as to whether she was fully responsible for permitting MAKTIG PANIS VITAE to shift in forcing MAROON BELLS inwards resulting in that horse making heavy contact with OCEAN JOURNEY. Following the results of the veterinary examination, together with P. Blackwell’s undertaking to experiment with gear changes, stewards ordered that MAKTIG PANIS VITAE must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and that a veterinary clearance for the horse must be furnished prior to its next start.

BARRAMUNDI (K. Gates), ONE EYED (M. Morris) and MAJESTIC RULER all raced wide throughout.
Apprentice J. Piper, the rider of KARALIUS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that shortly after the start she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BEVAGNA (W. D'Avila), taking that runner in on to EDITAVE (M. Hellyer), causing EDITAVE to be checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice Piper’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings. Acting under the provisions of AR. 196(3), stewards ordered that the suspension commence at the expiration of a suspension apprentice Piper incurred at the Gold Coast meeting on Saturday, 15 January 2011, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 6 February 2011.
