1st – Rhapsodic 2nd – Zamboni 3rd – Mishani Steele 4th – Hide ‘N’ Seek
Due to a misprint in the racebook, YOU’D BETTER was advertised as wearing blinkers when in fact a gear change had been effected and the horse was racing with blinkers off for the first time. Connections of YOU’D BETTER advised that if circumstances permit the filly would be ridden back in the field, which is in contrast to its previous two runs when it was ridden handy. Public announcements were made to this effect. The horse was ridden accordingly.
ZAMBONI (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.
YOU’D BETTER (J. Holder), which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start by RHAPSODIC (M. Hughes), which shifted in and away from SAVAGE RIVER (P. Wolfgram).
BOLD KNIGHT (N. Thomas), AMANDAS GRACE (A. Spinks) and I’M COOL TOO (A. Taylor) raced wide throughout.
HIDE ‘N’ SEEK (C. Whiteley) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.
JUNGLE WOMAN (K. Gates) lost its off fore plate in running.
I’M COOL TOO lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 2: CALOUNDRA CITY REALTY MAIDEN H’CAP - 1400m
1st – Miss Sanctity 2nd – Midnite Raid 3rd – Kalinga Echo 4th – Groundshaker
Stewards accepted the explanation for K. Wharton being declared as the rider for both GROUNDSHAKER and WHATYA RECKON and therefore took no action. J. Holder was substituted as the rider of WHATYA RECKON.
CASHEL GOLD (O. Turpin) began awkwardly.
IGLESIA GRACE (M. Radecker) began awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with ALBIE (P. Schmidt), which in turn shifted in making heavy contact with the hind quarters of WHATYA RECKON (J. Holder), which became unbalanced.
Near the 1300m MISS ASTANA (A. Spinks) had to be steadied off the heels of LAMADAAMA (C. Whiteley), which shifted in. MISS ASTANA then commenced to race greenly for a short distance. C. Whiteley was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
LAMADAAMA and PLAIN MARY (W. D'Avila) raced wide in the early stages.
MISS ASTANA raced wide for the majority of the event.
IGLESIA GRACE was momentarily held up and unable to obtain clear running near the 350m. Shortly after this IGLESIA GRACE brushed MISS ASTANA when attempting a run between that horse and MIDNITE RAID (N. Thomas).
GROUNDSHAKER (K. Wharton) lost its near plate in running.

KENTUCKY DANSEUR (J. Holder) raced wide throughout.
Jockey C. Whiteley, the rider of COUSINE ISLAND, reported that his mount was under pressure for the majority of the event and in his opinion did not handle tonight’s cushion track surface. A post-race veterinary examination of COUSINE ISLAND revealed no abnormalities.
NERO'S FIRE lost its near fore plate in running.

ADANGERTOHIMSELF (T. Huxham) and EMBRAER (B. Stewart) raced wide for the majority of the event.
ALPHONSE (K. Fuji) had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 400m to a point leaving the 200m and when endeavouring to obtain clear running shifted in making contact with the tiring ADANGERTOHIMSELF.
Race 5: HOT 91 F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1000m
1st – Charming Bay 2nd – Fine Connection 3rd – Garland Girl 4th – Commercially
On return to scale C. Whiteley, the rider of 4th placegetter GARLAND GIRL, and E. Wilkinson, the rider of 3rd placegetter FINE CONNECTION, both lodged objections against COMMERCIALLY (P. Wolfgram) being declared 2nd, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all riders involved and viewing the patrol film, stewards found that COMMERCIALLY shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages, hampering both GARLAND GIRL and FINE CONNECTION and forcing both horses wider on the track. Stewards were of the opinion that the interference suffered by both runners exceeded the margins of a head and half a head at the finish and upheld both objections and amended the Judge’s placings to read: 8, 2, 3 and 4.
At a subsequent inquiry, trainer T. Sears was advised that a warning would be placed on COMMERCIALLY for hanging out.
BRIGALOW BABE (B. Stewart) bucked shortly after the start and took no further part in the event. Trainer N. Harrison was advised that BRIGALOW BABE must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start.
SCHERZINGER (P. Schmidt) raced wide for the majority of the event.
After being held up rounding the home turn CHARMING BAY (M. O'Brien) had difficulty obtaining clear running until a point leaving the 200m.
PRETTYEXPLOSIVE (K. Fuji) bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the mare had bled, trainer K. Martin was advised that the mare will incur a mandatory 3-month bar from racing under AR. 53A(4).
Race 6: RCQ MAIDEN H’CAP - 1000m
1st – Factor Fiction 2nd – Not Declared 3rd – Alestelle Lady 4th – Lentini Mist
