Race 1: Hackney Insurance Group Maiden H'cap - 1100m
1st – Lomu 2nd – Black Monty 3rd – Light In The Field 4th - Rosehip

Due to a misunderstanding, M. Wood being dually engaged on ROCK TO RULE and POP’S CHOICE, R. Mason substituted as the rider of POP’S CHOICE.

NERO VELLUTO (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainer M. Mair was advised that a warning would be placed on NERO VELLUTO regarding its barrier manners.

ROSEHIP (E. Wilkinson) and LOMU (N. Seymour), which were both slow to begin, were tightened for room shortly after the start between LIGHT IN THE FIELD (A. Kitson) and ALESTELLE LADY (S. Galloway), which shifted in. As a result of this incident, LOMU had to be checked from the heels of ALESTELLE LADY.

Approaching the 800m, LIGHT IN THE FIELD commenced to overrace and as a result improved onto heels and had to be steadied. A short distance later, LIGHT IN THE FIELD shifted out, hampering ALESTELLE LADY which resulted in AN EYE FOR AN EYE (N. Thomas) shifting out, tightening the running of STORM (D. McWhinney), which was racing to the inside of FAIRGLASE (S. Arnold). In this incident, STORM had to be steadied.

NERO VELLUTO was held up rounding the home turn and until entering the home straight.

BRADBURY’S FORTUNE (J. Kropp), STORM and FAIRGLASE raced wide throughout.

S. Galloway reported that ALESTELLE LADY hung out throughout the event.

Stewards questioned J. Kropp regarding the riding tactics adopted on BRADBURY’S FORTUNE, which raced in a forward position in today’s event, which was in contrast to its most recent starts. Apprentice Kropp stated he had been instructed to ride forward from the wide barrier. Stewards adjourned the inquiry in order to interview trainer A. Robinson regarding this matter. A. Robinson will also be interviewed regarding a report which indicated that BRADBURY’S FORTUNE had been left unattended following the running of this race.

LOMU lost its off-fore plate in running.

Race 2: Petstock Maroochydore Class 3 Plate - 1400m
1st – Scene Of The Crime 2nd – Mr Testa 3rd – It’s Wunderbar 4th – Glare

Following QCAT advice at 10:38 a.m. that it had amended the commencement date of trainer of Darryl Hansen’s disqualification to midnight 7 December 2011, MR TESTA, which had been scratched as a result of his disqualification, was reinstated as a starter in this event.

Due to L. Finlay riding at another venue, he was replaced as the rider of IT’S WUNDERBAR by J. Hoopert.

Following a report from trainer A. Mead that IT’S WUNDERBAR injured its near fore hoof when being placed onto the float, that gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.

Trainer T. Hall was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SCENE OF THE CRIME by the prescribed time.

IT’S WUNDERBAR was slow to begin.

1st – Hidden Shuffle 2nd – Heartsun 3rd – Final Crunch 4th – County Sherrif

HEARTSUN (R. Mason) reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

Stewards sought an explanation from E. Kehoe regarding the poor performance of ARMSTRONG JONES, which commenced to lose ground quickly after leaving the 900m and finished a distant last. Jockey Kehoe stated that after beginning well, the gelding was unable to go the early speed in the race, and added that perhaps the gelding did not appreciate the kick-back from the cushion surface. A post-race veterinary examination of ARMSTRONG JONES failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

FIDAKAT (N. Tomizawa) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Stratogen Chartered Accountants Class 2 H'cap - 1600m

AEQUITAS (S. Arnold), which was slow to begin, refused to settle during the early stages and improved onto heels and shifted wider and raced wide throughout.

OUIRMANINAMSTERDAM (L. Cheshire), which was held up rounding the home turn, then became awkward and shifted in, making contact with the running rail leaving the 400m when attempting a tight run to the inside of HI JO SILVER (J. Kropp).

D. Missen, rider of MUKADDAMAH SON, was reprimanded for excessive use of his whip in a backhand fashion.
