Race 1: Sky Racing Class 1 H'cap – 1600m
1st – Spur Point 2nd – Psydone 3rd – Stalwart Woman 4th – The Calibrator

BOREHOLE (T. Bell) reared at the start and lost considerable ground.

When the pace steadied passing the 1200m, AL NASSMA (L. Finlay) commenced to overrace and shifted out bumping WANNABE BOBBYSGIRL (S. Arnold) out on to TRIUMPHANT ONE (S. Wiseman).

WANNABE BOBBYSGIRL, DUBAI FALCON (J. Watkins) and TRIUMPHANT ONE raced wide throughout.

J. Watkins, rider of DUBAI FALCON, was cautioned regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m .


Race 2: Yalumba Wines Class 3 H'cap - 1400m
1st – Scene Of The Crime 2nd – Chopped 3rd – Nero’s Fire 4th – Coroner

Correct weight was delayed to allow M. Wood, rider of the 4th placegetter, to view the film of the race in the straight to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge a protest against NERO’S FIRE being declared 3rd. Subsequently, M. Wood declined to lodge a protest.

SO DOMINANT (L. Cheshire) was slow to begin.

KESTHIN (R. Mason) and BELLAVONANE (N. Thomas) were hampered at the start by CHOPPED (T. Bell), which shifted out abruptly.

SCENE OF THE CRIME (D. Browne) was restrained soon after the start to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the fence.

Near the 400m CHOPPED became very awkward at the heels of the tiring KESTHIN and was steadied and shifted in abruptly and in so doing hampered CORONER (M. Wood). Following this incident, CORONER was held up and unable to improve.

NERO’S FIRE (G. Killen) and INCANDESCENT (Matthew Palmer) raced wide throughout.

L. Cheshire, rider of SO DOMINANT, was reprimanded for her use of the whip on a horse out of contention and not responding.


Race 3: Bi-Rite Electrical Caloundra Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Encinitas 2nd – Justaz 3rd – Unique Fuse 4th – Magpie Jack

As A. Pattillo was delayed in traffic, L. Finlay was substituted as the rider of WAYNE’S COMMAND.

TRADIES HOPE was examined at the barriers at the request of jockey D. Green and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 7.05 pm when it was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Subsequent to the event, stewards ordered all monies invested on TRADIES HOPE be refunded with the following deductions to apply on successful wagers as follows:

For bets placed on the winner and placegetters placed prior to 7.05 pm:

5 cent in the dollar for the winner No. 2
4 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner No.2
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place No.3
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place No. 8

Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for TRADIES HOPE prior to its next race start.

LOMU (N. Seymour) and GLIDING LAD (J. Watkins) were slow to begin.

MOON LADY (N. Thomas) was hampered at the start by JUSTAZ (K. Gates), which jumped outwards.

LOMU overraced in the early stages of the event.

Near the 800m, INTHANON (C. Priest), which was overracing and proving difficult to ride, shifted out and became awkward at the heels of MAGGIE JACK (S. Galloway).

UNIQUE FUSE (D. Gill) and JUSTAZ raced wide throughout.





Race 4: Curran Group CG&E Maiden H'cap - 1000m
1st – Benji Bullet 2nd – Nediym Thunder 3rd – Cangrande/Dynamic Jack

ROUGHEN was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and found to have blood in its mouth. The horse was cleared to race.

WISHMORE (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.

MARKATO (S. Wiseman) began awkwardly.

BENJI BULLET (N. Thomas) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with NEDIYM THUMDER (G. Goold).

BABY RASY (R. Hancock) and NEDIYM THUNDER were inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

BABY RASY (D. Green) and ROUGHEN (J. Hoopert) raced wide throughout.

As M. Gray was dislodged from DYNAMIC JACK on returning to scale and the horse then proving difficult to capture, stewards, being comfortably satisfied that M. Gray carried his correct weight, declared correct weight on the Judge’s placing acting under AR142.


Race 5: Cellar Maintenance Australia F&M Maiden H'cap – 1000m
1st – Ballroom Dance 2nd – Storm 3rd – White Heather 4th – Singing Bullet

ABUNDANT RESOURCES (Matthew Palmer) was hampered at the start by WHITE HEATHER (D. Browne), which shifted in.

STORM (R. Mason) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in SALLY’S DIAMONDS (N. Thomas) and FRUIT DROP (C. Priest) being inconvenienced.

D. Tanti, rider of THE SINGING BULLET, lost the use of his off side iron on jumping away however was able to regain the use of that iron a short distance later.

After passing the 800m, OUT OF CHARACTER (J. Hoopert) commenced to hang out and had to be checked severely across the heels of LIGHT IN THE FIELD (G. Killen). Connections will be advised that an official warning would be placed on OUT OF CHARACTER regarding its racing manners.

LIGHT IN THE FIELD was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

STORM shifted out over the final 200m when placed under pressure.

LADY RUTHERFORD (D. Gill) and SEQUOLA ROSE (S. Arnold) raced wide throughout.

SALLY’S DIAMONDS lost its off hind plate in running.

A post-race veterinary examination of ABUNDANT RESOURCES revealed the horse to have a laceration to the left hind fetlock.


Race 6: Love & Partners Chartered Accounts QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1600m
1st – Voodoo Black Magic 2nd – Colour Code 3rd – Offset Prince 4th – Suite Heavens

SECRETS OF SUCCESS, which was found to have blood in its mouth at the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

VOODOO BLACK MAGIC (R. McMahon) was slow to begin.

STORMIN (K. Gates) raced ungenerously in the early stages and rounding the first turn hung out and as a result lost ground.

Approaching the 200m, COLOUR CODE (M. Hellyer) shifted out under pressure, taking ACQUAINT (J. Hoopert) out on to PILOT ERROR (T. Bell), which was inconvenienced. M. Hellyer, rider of COLOUR CODE, was advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future.

DANA’S WOOD (G. Killen) and HIROSIE (G. Goold) raced wide throughout.

M. Hellyer reported that COLOUR CODE hung out for a major part of the race.

T. Bell reported that PILOT ERROR did not seem to appreciate racing on the cushion track.

G. Goold, rider of HIROSIE, was cautioned regarding use of the whip on a horse out of contention.


Race 7: Caloundra Journal BM85 H'cap – 1600m
1st – I’llbetricked 2nd – Glare 3rd – Shadow Buster 4th – Jedi Starfighter

BRADFIELD (J. Watkins) overraced in the early and middle stages.

GLARE (E. Wilkinson) overraced in the middle stages.

Leaving the 300m, SHADOW BUSTER (D. Browne) shifted out when placed under pressure, which enabled I’LLBETRICKED (E. Kehoe) to obtain a run to the inside of SHADOW BUSTER.
