However, prior to Race 1, the distance of Race 2 was amended from 2000m to 1600m after stewards identified a section of the track near the 1700m, which was unsuitable for racing.
Race 1: Micks Meat Barn Class 2 H'cap - 1400m
1st – Oh Sunday 2nd – Laughing Crusader 3rd – Eddie 4th - Zaharakis
Stewards were satisfied with the explanation tendered by trainer P. Duff for the late scratching of WITHDRU at 8.05 am.
As N. Thomas was delayed in traffic, K. Wharton was substituted as the rider of DOMRAS.
Correct weight was delayed to afford L. Cassidy, the rider of the 2nd placegetter, LAUGHING CRUSADER, the opportunity to view the video of the race to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner, OH SUNDAY. After viewing the video, L. Cassidy advised stewards he did not wish to proceed with the matter and correct weight was subsequently semaphored on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
DOMRAS (K. Wharton) and FRAGAR (S. Wiseman) were both slow into stride.
MISS SANCTITY (L. Finlay) overraced in the early stages.
K. Fuji, rider of ZAHARAKIS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 500m he shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so moved OH SUNDAY (D. Browne) wider on the track, causing that horse to shift out into the rightful running of LAUGHING CRUSADER, causing that horse to be checked. K. Fuji was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 3 March and to expire at midnight, 15 March.
FRAGAR (D. Wiseman) raced wide for the majority of the race and the horse had a tendency to overrace in the early and middle stages of the event.
Approaching the 400m, OH SUNDAY (D. Browne) and LAUGHING CRUSADER (L. Cassidy) were both checked when racing to the inside of ZAHARAKIS (K. Fujii), which shifted out to improve.

DRIVING REIGN (G. Killen) and EDDIE RAPIDO (E. Kehoe) raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
Following the running of this event , stewards interviewed all riders who rode in Race 2 regarding the prevailing track conditions. After considering the riders’ comments, the meeting proceeded accordingly.

A short distance after the start, SUPA MEGA DEADLY had to be steadied when overracing at the heels of TUSKEGEE HAWK (S. Wiseman).
Near the 400m, SUPA MEGA DEADLY again had to be restrained after it improved onto the heels of BUCKET OF CASH (K. Gates).

RICHMOND GROVE (T. Bell) hung out and had to be steadied approaching the 800m when racing between SINE TIMORE (E. Wilkinson) and I’M OVER IT (D. Missen). DASH FOR DOLLAR (N. Thomas), which was following, blundered and became awkward for a few strides when being restrained from the heels of RICHMOND GROVE.
Approaching the 200m, DON’T TELL CYRIL (R. McMahon) had to be steadied when tightened for room between I’M OVER IT and RICHMOND GROVE, which shifted in under pressure.
