STEWARDS REPORT Sunday May 21st 2000

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Dead
Moveable Rail out 8 metres from the 1800 metres to the 800 metres then 10 metres from the 800 to the winning post.

GENERAL: The explanation of trainer P. Gillman was accepted for the reason he nominated MR. MIDNIGHT when ineligible.

As N. Jolly was indisposed he was replaced on the following:
Race 2 AGGAHST D. Craven
Race 4 DELTA PRINCE M. Paget
Race 7 RAPA NUI S. Galloway
Race 8 HONOURABLY N. Day

RACE 1
KLIP KLOP KIDS CLUB PLATE 1000 metres

As J. Pollard was indisposed he was replaced on MULROONY by L. Moloney.
MULROONY was slow to begin.
For some distance shortly after the start TANGO TEMPO, GRANDVIEW DRIVE and SUNSHINE YALLAH wee all hampered between HOLDING PATTERN and GUWAPO which shifted in.
A post race Veterinary examination of MULROONY which became unbalanced for a short distance approaching the 600 metres, failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2
PAMELA HENDERSON HANDICAP 1400 metres

As A. Raby was indisposed she was replaced on BULL POWER by R. Morris.
After being dislodged behind the barriers S. Seamer rider of ZIDANE was examined by the Club Doctor and found fit to continue his riding engagements.
NEW SHOES was very slow to begin.
NEDSYND, CRYSTAL QUARTZ, AGGAHST and BULL POWER were all slow to begin.
Approaching the 800 metres SUNGIFT which was racing greenly, shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail. NEDSYND which was following was hampered.
SUNGIFT continued to race greenly and near the 600 metres again shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail then shifted out hampering MY DÉCOR.
Trainer G. Ryan’s representative Mr. R. Hill was advised that SUNGIFT must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
Passing the 200 metres SMOKEY HALO had to be steadied when STAR PROOF shifted in under pressure.

RACE 3
IAN McGRATH HANDICAP 1200 metres

Trainer C. Williamson was advised that BROKEN BOTTLE, which was very slow to begin, must perform satisfactorily in several official trials prior to its next race start.
Trainer M. Lewis was advised that CIRCLE OF WHITE which hung out from the 800 metres until after entering the straight and performed disappointingly, must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start. A post race Veterinary examination of CIRCLE OF WHITE failed to reveal any abnormality.
Approaching the 700 metres LEGENDARY GIRL had to be steadied when tightened for room by CITYKAT which was taken in by HUGE. Apprentice A. Morrison rider of HUGE was reprimanded over this incident and advised to exercise more care in future.

RACE 4
BRIAN KERLE HANDICAP 1200 metres

Shortly after the start I SEE RED and CERRUTI were both momentarily tightened for room between QUICK PRINCE and REGAL TYCOON both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 400 metres I SEE RED and LOGAN’S RUN brushed on two occasions.

RACE 5
FAVOURITES FUNCTION ROOM HANDICAP 1200 metres

After jumping away awkwardly GLORY VAIN shifted out and made contact with MISS GRANIA.
Passing the 800 metres CAROUSELS was momentarily tightened for room by LADY ON ICE and near the 700 metres LADY ON ICE shifted in causing CAROUSELS to make contact with the running rail.
LADY ON ICE became unbalanced approaching the 500 metres.
T. Brown rider of LADY ON ICE was reprimanded for using what Stewards deemed to be an excessive amount of whip on a horse out of contention.

RACE 6
CORBOULD PARK BOOKMAKERS SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES HANDICAP 1000 metres

BAKONGO was slow to begin.
TRUMP OF COLOGNE jumped away awkwardly and shifted out hampering NEGATIVE CARRY, KISSES and HOODED GEM.
From the 800 metres until just after entering the straight NEGATIVE CARRY was inclined to lay in.

RACE 7
STEPHEN DONAGHUE HANDICAP 1000 metres

The explanation of trainer R. Dawson for the reason he failed to declare C. Schumacher as the rider of SWIRLER by the required time was accepted.
Passing the 100 metres SWIRLER shifted out inconveniencing MERRY DANCER and BOOROONGA.
A short distance later C. Schumacher commenced to ride SWIRLER with the whip and shifted out hampering BOOROONGA and MERRY DANCER. C. Schumacher rider of SWIRLER was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

RACE 8
QUEENSLAND WINNERS CLUB MEMBERS HANDICAP 1600 metres

SUPER shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with HAPPY D’OR.
A short distance later SUPER again shifted out taking HAPPY D’OR out on to WITH IMPULSION.
In the early and middle stages of the event MURTAKA raced fiercely and threw its head in the air on several occasions.
Making the 800 metres turn WARRAWEE BOUNTY shifted in momentarily inconveniencing WITH IMPULSION.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of HONOURABLY trainer D. Bougoure stated that at the gelding’s last start at the Gold Coast on 6th May 2000 there was no pace in the early and middle stages and HONOURABLY was forced to race wide from the 900 metres until entering the straight however today when the pace was genuine the gelding had a chance to run on. His explanation was noted.




All winners were swabbed.
